The Rogue Theatre is absolutely amazing. The historic charm of the building, the incredible acoustics, and the intimate setting make every show feel special. It's the perfect place to see live music--big enough for great energy, but small enough that you feel connected to the performers. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is one-of-a-kind, and Grants Pass is lucky to have such a gem right downtown. Always an amazing experience. read more

Worst concert experience ever. Saw Easton Corbin and the manager was so rude and unprofessional. A row below me got overserved and were getting in a fight. Well the manager came over, right in front of me, inches I mean, and screamed at them "get the f**k out of here all of you!" At least 4x times over the live music. I was left shaking and so I went to the Manger and explained how uncomfortable that was. Then he proceeded to make it my fault. Said I shouldn't have been triggered and I'm putting myself into the situation. All I said was he was unprofessional and he could have handled it different. Then after the show, I walked up to a security guard to ask who else I can talk to. The manager came up and again, said it was my fault. It wasn't towards me. I get it wasn't towards me but I paid over 120 for 2 seats. And then to be treated like I was the problem is wild. No sorry no making it better. He tried to fight my husband and kicked me out, all for bringing up how poorly that was handled. I'm very upset. read more

LOVE this little live performing arts center in our little town of 38,000. Originally built in 1938 but upgraded about 20 years ago, lots of big names come through and the community supports them! We saw Judy Collins here last night and were thoroughly entertained. Great acoustics, easy to find seating, findable restrooms and friendly staff. The reason I didn't give it an extra star is because the seats are old and need to be replaced before they completely sink into the floor. :) The theatre is a non-profit entity and was closed for about two years because of COVID so I get it. But now that it's rolling again, please consider new seats! Also, and this isn't the fault of the Rogue, parking is not always easy. We arrived 30 minutes early and found one space about two blocks away. Still, if the entertainer is someone we'd like to see, we'd have no issue in returning. read more

I've never had a worse experience at a concert than I did last night seeing Todd Snider at the Rogue Theater. It was a disaster. The theater itself is good. I love the old look of the building and it's hard to get a bad seat because it's so small. The biggest problem last night, though, was the crowd. There were way too many loud, stoned and very, very drunk people there who couldn't keep their @#$#@$!! mouths shut. Ramblin' Jack Elliot was the opening act. If you're not familiar with him, he's an old "singing cowboy" who studied under Woody Guthrie and is now 88 years old. His voice is soft now and he tells stories between songs, so if there's any hope of hearing him the crowd needs to be quiet. But that was impossible. People kept yelling, talking among themselves, getting up and down, etc. And if that wasn't bad enough, the doors to the lobby remain open all the time and there's a constant party going on out there at the bar. I could barely hear a thing up in the balcony. At one point Ramblin' Jack said, "Would you all kindly shut the f*** up? I'm trying to tell a story up here." I was really embarrassed to be a part of that crowd. There were about 15 people sitting in our immediate area who seemed to know each other and if I had to guess what their professions were, I'd say "trimmigrants." They all reeked of pot, and made never-ending trips to the bar and back. Before too long they were so drunk and stoned they didn't know the difference between up and down. The guy sitting immediately behind my girlfriend and I kept leaning over and grabbing us with his hands to tell us that we needed to go down and see the bathrooms, because they were the most beautiful bathrooms he had ever seen. Then he would put his hat on our heads. Both of us were thinking, "lice." The woman who was with him was trying to keep him under control but she had a big job. If by chance she reads this, I'd like to thank her and also tell her that her life could be much better with someone else who might have an ounce of respect for others. We left half way through Snider's show. I love Todd's music but it's much more enjoyable to listen to it at home. We're going to have to think long and hard about ever returning to the Rogue Theater. The atmosphere there seems to encourage this kind of behavior simply because they sell booze in the lobby during the show and do nothing to keep the crowd quiet, or at least isolate the noise in the lobby from getting into the theater where people are trying to listen to the acts they paid to see. read more

We bought great seats for Kenny Wayne Shepard. A show which was postponed due to covid. Later I called and talked to the owner of the Rogue Theater who said he was going to rebook the show and if we held onto the tickets they would be honored. At this time he was asking for donations to keep afloat so we thought we would just hold onto the tickets. He assured us the tickets and those specific seats would absolutely be honored. But guess what. He's a liar. A straight up liar After showing up for the show we were informed we would not be let in to in the show period. He also would not come down stairs to talk about it either. After waiting two years for this show I cannot begin to say how pissed we are. Crook!!! read more

My girls and I used to enjoy all kinds of movies at the Rogue, sitting in the first row, balcony, rocking loges! It was a years gone by theater, art deco originally built in 1938. We were saddened when they closed their doors and had a date with a wrecking ball back in the late 90's. Enter Gregg and Ann Tressels who stepped up to the plate, took over the helm and turned the Rogue into a flourishing music/ stage venue attracting some decent musicians to the area. The decor remains the same and the rocking loges remain in the balcony. Nowadays, however, everything is shiny, clean and spiffy. The refreshments come from local bakeries, wineries and breweries. I always wondered what the Wild West was like. Now I know. Thanks, Rogue Theater! Ya lived up to ya name. We saw the great Tommy Emmanuel on Saturday, December 8, 2018. The staff are... unique. Sorta body builders on steroids meet homicidal maniacs on Zoloft. Do not engage. I was standing in the lobby next to Jerry Douglas, the multi-Grammy nominated musician who opened the show, and got thrown into an elderly woman standing in front of me because a staff member pushed open a small door to the ticket booth behind me. I didn't know the door existed. When I told the staffer what she did, and that I didn't know the door was there, she told me that I should have figured it out. The staff looked like they have done time. Or meth. I don't mean to insult them or incarcerated people or people with substance abuse problems. But the staff look damn rough. And act like it. The tiny lobby at that moment was every kind of fire hazard and packed so much I could not reenter the theater on the left side where our seats were. And the men's room? One urinal and one toilet for hundreds of men. If I ever go back, it'll have to be for someone really special and the only chance I'd ever get to see him or her. Because the Rogue is not worth it. What a waste of a great business. It could be such an asset to Grants Pass. read more

They book good music and the venue is lovely. Unfortunately, the crowd has ruined every show I've been to and I'm done. Who the hell are these people? Talking loudly, heckling artists, clambering over rows, shouting out stupid stuff, consuming/spilling loads of booze: they're the worst. Really disappointed. A very beautiful old school theater, with amazing acoustics and stays nice and cool during the hot summers. But some of the staff were not great. The ushers or whatever you would like to call the gruff dudes seating people Were rough around the edges and not in a good way. They kept shinning their flashlights in our eyes and then behaved unprofessionally and rude. They seem more like bouncers at the wrong event. read more

Front row in the center for a Los Lonely Boys concert. How amazing is that? It just can't get any better than that for placement for a concert. Driving by the venue we thought "Wow, that's small." But that's a good thing! Means that we'll practically be able to see up their noses! It was a sold out show and people started lining up for the general admission show before 5 PM. The show started at 8 PM. Will call started at 6, I believe. The mexican restaurant next door was packed. The venue reminded me of the Cascade Theater in Redding but this place seemed older and smaller. Entering the Rogue, you're faced with the only concession stand where you can get wine, beer, water, soda and misc. snacks and stairways on both sides that lead to the balcony. I bolted right passed these options and ran to the front where friends already had some of our seats already. LOVE FRONT ROW. It's the only way to see a concert...OK, the first 5 rows are acceptable. I'm an LLB concert snob - what can I say? Sitting there, in our group of 15 or so, two flat screens positioned on each side of the stage played The Wizard of Oz. During the concert, it was so loud my little baby hairs on my head pulsed with force and my heart pounded as hard as Ringo was beating on his drum set. You have to see these guys live. They are truly amazing. They're talented, funny and you'll definitely have a memorable time. Look out for the Street Team handing out LLB goodies to help promote the band. read more

I just visited the Rogue Theater for a Ryan Bingham show. This place has some serious flavor. Lots of old original architecture, like the in-wall speakers. They use new speakers now for performances, but it's great that they left the old ones in. One nice feature is that you can sit in your seat, or move up front and dance. There is a large enough space in the font, and it's low enough for the crowd to see over onto the stage. Good micro beers, and sticky tiled bathrooms. A real theater scene! read more

May 5, 2022 went to see the Billy Bob Thornton concert. Years ago, when the movie, Tombstone, came out was the last time I had been there. I got there two hours early, very excited, so I could get one of the best seats, (front row...Yay!!). Before too long a herd of people walked right up in front of the stage making it impossible for me to see anything on stage. Now the theatre is packed. I didnt know people could stand. There was no sign. I was not angry. I was disappointed. I went to the entrance and asked security who I might be able to talk to for a refund. Billy Bob hadn't even began playing yet. Security told me they wouldn't do that but pointed, got the attention of, and told the man standing nearby us I was asking for a refund. The man looked at me and said, "Your not getting your money back". I started to tell him why I was even asking. He interrupted me stating "No refunds". Still not angry, but finishing my sentence. He looked at the security man standing next to me and said, "Get her out of here". Security thought he was initially joking, but then didnt see him laugh. Security asked the man, "Are you serious?" The man said, "Yes, get her out of here. She's out!" Security apologized and told me I had to leave. A short little security guy grabbed me and pushed me out the door. I've never been kicked out of anywhere nor treated quite like that. I've lived here 52 years of my entire life. I've called the theatre 4 different times waiting a week between calls explaining and asking to talk with the owner or manager. The last call the lady asked if I was trying to get my money back? An apology is worth more. A comp ticket or money back wouldn't hurt at all either. Every time I called I was told someone would "definitely" be calling me back. Nobody ever called me. They don't care. The Rogue Theatre is a historic beautiful place. You won't see just how much from the outside. After this current companys lease ends or goes under...and it will, I will go again. I too am a fan of the Rogue Theater. The downside is the super drunk, stoned and cocained up grower community that has exploded in the Applegate. These recent arrivals are the same boom and bust type of people that have arrived in boom towns all over the west in the last century. This time they just happen to be chasing riches in the Cannabis industry. They are too wasted and run their mouths way too much during the shows. The OLCC got after the Applegate Lodge for serving the same people - wasted, inconsiderate people that moved here to get rich and don't share the same values as Oregonians who have been here for years. If Rogue Theater management doesn't police this more people are going to no-show at the Rogue. It will be difficult to get them back. read more

One star is earned by the intimate setting of the venue and the potential for fantastic shows. So, so disappointed by the audience and the management of their behaviors. The crowd was loud, drunk, and disrespectful. People were getting up constantly and talking throughout the entire show. Some drunkenly shouted at the stage in attempt for humor. Watson acknowledged this behavior from the stage right from the beginning of the set, then walked off in disgust. We were embarrassed to be in the audience and would not recommend attending this theater. I would say that the Rogue Theater needs to seriously reconsider the atmosphere that they want to promote. read more

The Rogue Theater has become IRRELEVANT! Years ago, it was a really good place for live music, but now they just bring the same dinosaur acts back over and over again, many of them 3 or 4 times. Hardly ever any new or young acts except for floater who's played there many times, but not national acts. Who wants to see Arlo Guthrie sing Alice Resurant for the 5th time? Ticket prices are way higher than other Oregon small venues for the same acts. Also, everything has changed and it's all about the money now. No longer the community and other benefits they used to put on. No longer is it local wine, brews, popcorn, and baked goods that one reviewer mentioned. Now it's all the cheap, mass-produced stuff and at higher prices than before. The sound quality varies. Sometimes way too loud with people complaining and walking out. Othertimes, sound is pretty decent. They need someone in there with a fresh approach. Who cares about seeing the same so-called psychics over and over? How about some new, younger acts instead of all the relics? How about some decent wine and snacks? How about improving the sound quality? How about concentrating on important things like these instead of nothing but higher ticket prices?? This is my opinion, but I've heard it from many others too. read more

We went to see Postmodern Jukebox. We don't go out often and decided to splurge on 3rd row seats at $75 a piece. For our $150.00 we got FOLDING CHAIRS to sit in. For 2 1/2 hours. The show was Great! The seats were HORRIBLE. If you go to the theater, Do not get anything in the first 3 rows. Save your money! read more

I have been to several shows at the Rogue Theater over the years. Although there has always been at least one small space at the front of the stage to dance out of everyone's way that was not the case tonight at the Robert Cray show. I loved the band! But I am done with this venue. This is a horrible venue to enjoy a rock or rocikin' blues band. One star is too much for this venue. I am grateful that their greed in adding chairs all the way up to the stage leaving no chance of any dancing has convinced me to save my money. I will spend my money on tickets to Britt Festival in Jacksonville, Oregon. Humboldt Brews in Arcata is also a great venue. I will support any venue that provides chairs and a small space for dancing. read more

Saw John Hiatt here on 3/5/16. Great acoustics, comfortable seats, and centrally located near a lot of restaurants. There's a bar in the lobby, and it's open during the entire performance. Great for people who want to drink heavily, not so great for people who want to enjoy music. The guy sitting in front of us got up to go to the bar at least eight times, and thus also had to get up to go the restroom at least eight times. People were getting up and leaving, then coming back, forcing everyone in their row to stand up every time. I know that alcohol is good profit margin for the theatre (and maybe I'm just getting crotchety in my old age), but with all the people popping up and down the whole time it was like being stuck in a giant game of Whack-a-Mole. BTW, John Hiatt is a National Treasure. If you ever get a chance to see him, GO! read more

Tonight the Robert Cray show was amazing! The thing that wasn't amazing was that there was a huge amount of noise coming out of the upstairs "bar". While I understand that alcohol sales is vital to the success of this venue, I am disappointed that they put a social area in the middle of a music venue. This venue will now become a last resort for my recreational dollar. read more

We've attended several concerts here. There's not a bad seat in the house! The staff has always been kind, friendly, and very professional. The performers that they showcase are jaw dropping! The ticket prices are unbelievably low. The theater is also small enough that every seat in the house is a front row seat! There's an acre of dancing space in front of the stage also! Parking? We've never had to park more than a block away. There are no drawbacks to the Rogue Theater. We look forward to attending many more acts in the future! read more
