Like everyone else has said, this is a gorgeous studio with a great variety of superb instructors. Long ago, I used to think I didn't like heated yoga but I've completely changed my mind. Not only do I feel 100% worked and rinsed out after a heated class (mentally and physically!), but I'm much less sore the next day - especially in my always tight hamstrings, quads and hips - which makes me want to go more often. I don't feel stiff the morning after a heated class. I'm not naturally very flexible but man, the heated classes make a huge difference. I leave class feeling great and wake up the next day feeling great. I've loved all of the instructors I've tried and all of the music played. My favorite class is by far the candelight vinyasa and I only wish they offered it more often! Bring a towel :) Parking is easy in spite of this downtown location, and they have free spots in a small lot as well as some sweet bike racks. I love that they offer kid yoga as well as accessible yoga. Next in my list to try is yoga cross! read more

This is my hOMe away from home! I love this studio so much and cannot say enough good things about it. I moved to Denver about 2 and a half years ago from Maui, HI and immediately began my search for a yoga studio that would be the right fit. I've been to many of the well known studios in the Denver metro area and can truly say that the River was what I was looking for. I had met Katie Rowe and the Fitness in the City guys at a free class offered at Lululemon and immediately loved the style of yoga. I started with the initial trial month and quickly became a member. In terms of the yoga, it is a very balanced practice. You can expect to be sweaty and grounded when you leave. Christen, Katy, Sam, Danielle, Kathryn and Joy are such of the best people around and the most amazing yoga teachers. The studio itself is beautiful and such a relaxing environment to come into after day to day stresses. I'm a RN in a very high stress environment at times and walking into the studio immediately begins to bring me into a place of calm. You have to see this gorgeous place for yourself! Customer service is amazing. There's always a lovely face to greet you and I've always had a pleasant time getting checked in and set up. They have their schedule online and it is easy to get signed up for a class and the iPhone mind body app is helpful as well. I've brought friends to the studio who were a little overwhelmed by the heated studio but it just takes some getting used to and you learn to love it! If you want to be a part of an amazing community, sweat your asana off and have a beautiful space to do it in, the River is your place! Also I have to note that they offer adaptive yoga, kids yoga, beginning yoga workshops, guest teachers and Christen Bakken & Katy Rowe offer a yoga teacher training. If you're interested in becoming a teacher, these are definitely the girls you want to learn from. They are knowledgable, approachable, fun and the best teachers around! There's something for everyone here. See you at the Riv'! read more

We are pleased to find the River. This place has been welcoming to all our family, all ages. My husband who has never done Yoga before is hooked. My son that thought Yoga was for girls only, is hooked... as is my daughter. It is a beautiful space with wonderful teachers and a great class schedule that no matter what time you need a class.. you're bound to find the perfect one here! Way to go RIVER!! read more

I'm simply amazed by how beautiful this space is - it is basically like walking into Beatrice and Woodsley, but to do yoga. I've just been to one class, but it was fantastic. About six months ago, I joined CorePower because I love hot yoga and their classes are SO convenient, but it is really "gym yoga" and although I get a good workout most of the time, the teachers can be hit or miss. I'm really excited to switch to the River, to be honest. What an amazing studio! read more

I just walked out of another class and felt compelled to tell the world, or at least Denver, how much I love The River. The River is not impressed with itself, though it should be. Every teacher has something truly special about them: Lindsay is getting me closer to a handstand (my fiance swears I did one for "3 seconds! Maybe 5!") than I have been in my decade of practice; Kristen has taught me how to protect my flexible but vulnerable hamstrings from injury and is a physiology guru; Christen brought me here from another studio and has taught me how to kick myself into high gear AND sing (and now I sing loudly), Joy has taught me...you guessed it, to have more joy and not treat yoga like a workout (note: if you just want a workout and want to leave your heart/spirit/guts/demons out of it, The River may not be what you want, but exactly what you need--but that's your business, not mine, so I digress from the lecture), Sam seems so bubbly and mild but will help you unleash your inner yoga beast (the beast that has nice triceps), because she is strong as [bad word]. And Katy is my spirit animal: she knows just what I need to hear and says it, she helps me give myself permission to not compete (almost impossible for me), and isn't trying to get you to paleo, wear beads, conform, or eat urban-foraged dandelion--she is kind, she is real, she is wise beyond her years and calls downward dog "face down, ass up." I think I can end there. read more

I had never taken a yoga class in my life until I found The River Yoga (through Classpass; also highly recommend). I have been to both studios and had different instructors for each class I have signed up for (I have taken 5 so far between the two studios) and I must say....I have never had a bad experience! It's rare for any business with multiple locations to have consistency in their internal operations as well as their employees. Every instructor is so friendly and welcoming; which is great for someone like me who knows ZILCH about yoga. There have been a couple of occasions where I had specific questions after class and both times the instructors were very knowledgeable, experienced, and most importantly, FRIENDLY. Genuinely friendly! So far every class I have taken has been a hot Power Vinyasa class but I LOVE it! I'm sure I will branch out, but it's a great class for beginners. I always feel 1000 times better when I leave. Not just physically, but mentally too because of the guided breathwork (which I thought was weird at first not knowing what it was) and guided meditation. I never thought I could do "breathwork" or any type of meditation but the instructors are amazing and guide the class the entire time. Thank you so much to all of the instructors and employees at these studios. You all are truly making a difference and I am so grateful I found River Yoga :) read more

I toured around Denver yoga studios for a while trying to find a home for myself and my practice. My touring stopped with The River. They have a great teachers, a beautiful studio, good class time options and at a great location. Classes are a great balance of flow, intensity, and mantra. I highly recommend this studio. Always friendly and a great yoga experience. read more

The pictures don't do this studio justice. It's absolutely lovely. I'm a visitor in town and I must say this place is small but every bit as awesome as some of the nicest LA, Austin, or Atlanta studios I've been to. I did the Sunday morning heated power vinyasa class with Melanie and it was perfect. $17 for drop in class, $39 for first month unlimited pass. Check it out! read more

Beautiful local hot yoga studio, incredible teachers, overall a great facility. Some classes get jam packed so that's uncomfortable, but other than that I have had nothing but good experiences here and the prices are better than what I almost paid at corepower. I rave about this studio to everyone, high on my recommendation list :) read more

Amazing space. Meh yoga. Everyone has gushed about the space here already - it really is amazing, and feels like a resort. The classes are...well, they're ok. I don't want to denigrate anyone's teaching when there is good intention and effort. That said, the classes didn't really seem to fall in any particular category, and were pretty ad-hoc - not in any particular style or form, and often without focus. Due to this, it would be difficult for a regular yoga practitioner to commit to this studio long term. Also, it's often blast-furnace hot in the studio, which I enjoy but many may not. read more

I lived in Denver for over four years and can say I visited almost every studio in the area. This is one of two of my absolute favorite studios, and is #1 for the movement category. But beyond movement, this studio, or, more importantly, the teachers, lead with so much heart. They offer classes for inversions and for advanced students as well, which is a huge plus for myself as a yoga teacher. This studio is for a student at every level, though. You will get more than just the physical practice as nuggets of authentic wisdom rain down in every class. Kristen's classes are always packed for a reason: she brings the Kali fire. Katie drops the BS in her challenging flows with the most sincere calls to action regarding how we show up in the world. You will get a girl crush on Sam! She's light and her flows are solid. I know all the other teachers are probably awesome, as well. These are just the teachers I frequented. Thank you River for holding space for growth and surrender. If you haven't--go sweat with this tribe. You won't be disappointed. read more
