Orange Chicken with Fried Rice. Nom

The Rice Pot caught me by surprise at how good it is. Unbeknownst to me, there's several RP locations throughout DFW. The Cross Roads location was my first visit and the food was great!

Worst beef Lo mein we have ever had. Should have called it garlic noodles with three day old vegetables and dehydrated beef.

Worst, I mean the worst place we have ever been to. From the appearance of the restaurant to the customer service or lack there of and reheated food from lunch. Everything had so much garlic that it was all you could taste. The wonton soup literally had no wonton in it which was soy sauce and water. The meat was so dry and what vegetables we did get seemed like they were three days old. We will never ever be back to this place.

Look at all the grease around the rim of the container.
    Walter D.

Simply awful... I called Rice Pot Express and order a Crab Rangoon, and Chicken Lo Mein. I wasn't told that the side of grease would be free! The Crab Rangoon was actually just burnt wontons. The wontons were a dark brown, not golden, there was very little crab, and they had a carbon flavor to them. Why anyone would serve these is beyond me. They belonged in the trash, witch is exactly where I put them. The Chicken Lo Mein came with an extra side of grease. It was all over the container, all over the bag, and it made the dish inedible, the whole dish tasted like burnt oil, so I tossed it in the garbage next to the Crab Rangoon. The Dr Pepper I ordered was the only part of the meal I enjoyed, but considering I didn't eat anything, that makes it the most expensive Dr Pepper in history at 15 dollars and some change. I would not go back, nor would I recommend it to a friend, or even an ex!

Staff guided us thru the extensive menu in no time flat, the food arrived in scant minutes, and the whole vibe made a rushed dinner feel like a feast. Actual feast-quality food helped. Between us all, we had soup, appetizers, entrees - everything was piping hot, fresh, and really good. AND they passed the egg roll test: crunchy, hot-but-not-Hotpocket-hot, and not greasy! Delicious. The cutting and lighting on fire was cool and they provided the wrap, veggies and sauce. The chef even provided some pork chasu as a complimentary service. My favorite thing had to be the handful led beef noodles. It had a nice wok flavor and the noodles were really good and had a nice chew. The duck was good too but it felt quite small for the price. Also I did find a small hair in a piece of duck so that wasn't fun. The service was great and our waiter was very friendly and great. The restaurant inside is pretty and clean. Seems like a great place to take family or go for a nice lunch/ dinner.

This chicken was perfect, my spring rolls were great, it's all so carefully packaged, and in a warming bag. I will absolutely recommend this place to everyone I know. Even the steamed rice was great. We dined in and the vibe is actually great--clean, a little trendy, but not in a way that makes you feel underdressed for just wanting some really good Chinese food. Service was solid too. No theatrics, just quick, smooth, and everything showed up exactly when it should. We ordered the crispy beef, General Tso's, and the steamed housemade dumplings and I was honestly a little shocked at how good everything was. The biggest win here is that nothing was drowning in oil or buried under a thick layer of breading. You can actually taste the food...which feels like a rare concept these days. Everything was super flavorful without making you feel like you need a nap and a life reset afterward. The dumplings? Legit. Not a throwaway menu item. The crispy beef had actual texture without being a deep-fried brick, and the General Tso's had flavor beyond just "sweet and spicy mystery sauce," which I deeply respect. It's easily heads and shoulders better than most of the Chinese spots around here. Like, not even close. This is the kind of place where you try it once and immediately start thinking, "Yeah...this is my spot now." I will absolutely be back...probably once a week...possibly more if I lack self-control (which is looking likely).

Bathrooms are cute, clean, and well stocked. What I didn't care for... I received my Mongolian beef early. My husband didn't get his orange chicken for 20ish minutes. I had a few bites but waited, we typically eat together. After 15 minutes, the eggrolls came out hot and fresh, now my food is getting cooler and the hubby still hasn't received his meal. All of this to say, consider making the easier dish later so they can be done together or hold meals until they can be served together. There was a long wait between food delivery, drink refills, and check, but in our servers defense: he was the only one serving, and it got busy for lunch. I may try it again when in the area

Instead, we were greeted with a 15-minute countdown to place our order--followed shortly after by the announcement that the restaurant closes at 2:30 PM, which came after the food was served. From a hospitality standpoint, this felt less like a reservation and more like a timed challenge. If the kitchen and dining room need to wrap up by 2:30, a last reservation of 1:00 PM would better align expectations and allow guests to actually enjoy the meal. Great food deserves a service experience that lets it shine.

The soup dumplings ended up having a sweet taste in the soup. The hot and sour soup was not sour at all, and I ended up, doctoring it a bit by asking for some vinegar. I would highly recommend against people ordering this if they're expecting the authentic Asian flavor profile. The beef noodle soup ordered medium spicy was not spicy at all and so next time if I ever go back, I'll have to get their extra spicy. And their tofu noodle soup did not have nearly as much tofu as the picture seemed to make us believe. The one thing I did really like was the wontons in the wonton soup so if I come back, I'll probably just be ordering that. Overall, I think I was expecting a classic Taiwanese flavor profile and was left wanting more.
