TLDR; I loved this place and dream about the signature beef Wellington…read more This place was omg mouthwatering. We stumbled into this place after a day of wandering around at the royal pavilion. It was not yet 5pm on a Wednesday evening. The guy at the bar asked if we had reservations, which we did not but they did have space to accommodate us. Now you may be wondering about the food. I can confidently say that this beef Wellington was one of the best I've ever had in my life. It takes 30 min for them to make it but it's well worth the wait. I've been to Gordon Ramsay's in Vegas. I've dined in Michelin restaurants. This was better. The filet was melt in your mouth perfect medium rare with a great wine sauce. The puff pastry and mushroom layers complimented it so well and if you can see that technique, no air bubbles between the meat and the pastry. Service was good. I'd come here again just for the beef Wellington.

Lovely setting outside under some trees. Perfect for a lazy sunny lunch…read more Food was ok. Nothing stand out unfortunately. We had the fish and chips and steak, king prawn and squid dishes. The fish and chips were average at best. The triple cooked chips were hit and miss, some perfect and others hard in the center like day old roast potatoes. The fish was slightly overcooked and the batter was ok, below average from other fish and chips we've had. The steak was cooked as ordered but again pretty average tasting, the prawns were not the freshest and the squid was delicious. Doubt we'll be back

What a find this place is! This is food about as good as it gets and the menu is ever changing…read morebased on what is locally available. The menu is simple and perfect, a choice of a 6 course or 8 course tasting menu; with a wine pairing option. They will happily alter to suite vegetarians etc. Everything we had, from a light broad bean and mint velouté soup, 20 minute sugar/salt cured fresh mackerel blow touched to crisp the skin, local beef and two deserts was outstanding. The staff were very professional, knowledgable and helpful. Decor is modern, clean and very attractive. There is absolutely nothing I can say negative about this place. Apparently others feel the same way, it is becoming extremely difficult to get a reservation. Interestingly the kitchen is open and a hive of activity. Steven Edwards (an award winning British chef) and his team clearly know what they are doing and are not afraid to experiment and surprise. For example; bread is a light, warmed brioche bun with a glossy Marmite glaze. Absolutely stunning, especially considering I do not like Marmite! My wife, daughter and me spent a very enjoyable 3 hours dinning at Etch and left very happy and pleasantly surprised. The 8 course tasting menu is not over indulgent, just right for anyone with a normal appetite. You may have noticed all my reviews to date on Yelp have been 5 star, this is deliberate. Life is too short to focus on that which does not make us happy. This is why I restrict my reviews to those things/places that make me happy and appreciate life. Sure, I have been to some really awful restaurants, but, like I said, life is too short to spend time thinking and writing about them

They had about 10 salads to choose from, most of which were vegan, and a bunch of mains, two of which were vegan. For the main, I got a decadent butter bean dish that was wonderfully flavoured, albeit quite oily. The salads were all quite intensely flavoured too, with a broccoli salad that had a nicely horseradish-dominant dressing, a tomato and bell pepper salad that was nicely dressed, and roasted sweet potatoes. Very filling and good value. I was really happy with the food. I capped off the meal with an American (£2.40), which was definitely above average for UK -- seems like the place is run by Italians, so that might be it. Super friendly and helpful staff who kindly pointed out everything that was vegan. All in all, highly recommended spot near the centre and beach.

I walked past and happened to notice the sign out the front advertising an all you can eat lunch for £6.95 per person. If that wasn't enough of an arm twister, the food on display in the window looked AMAZING! Today's hot menu offerings were vegetable soup, beef goulash, vege moussaka and Caribbean chicken drumsticks with mash or rice. And then a gorgeous array of 7 fresh salads to compliment your meal. Fresh, fast and tasty! This quiet and cosy restaurant had super lovely staff, and the food was just fantastic. Great little spot for lunch on North Street.

We were visiting from out of town and looking for a place that served dinner in the middle of the week. Apparently these are hard to come by in Brighton! We walked through the door and the waiter told us to wait to see if the kitchen was still serving dinner. I didn't understand why they would still be open if there is a possibility that they weren't serving dinner anymore! He came back out of the kitchen and agreed to seat us. We placed our order and then the waiter disappeared again for a while and basically didn't return until our food was ready. The food itself was pretty tasty, but it wasn't anything mind blowing. Part of the reason that people go out to dinner is for the food, but if the service is horrible, then what's the point?! Based on the service, this would not be a place that I would want to come back to.

It's got amazing views over the seafront and the food is delicious. It's definitely our favourite local, in fact the staff know us too well probably! We take everyone here! The staff are really friendly and enthusiastic, especially Matt he manager. We've taken small parties here, big parties of people and just been on date nights and it's been fantastic everytime. We even went there for New Year's Eve and loved it! There's a great range of choice when it comes to the food - all of which is delicious and served in a reasonable time. We took my husband's family there for a Sunday dinner a few weeks ago. There was 9 of us, but everyone was happy as there was so much choice - some of us had a roast, two people had a burger, and some had a persian dish - but we could have chosen from pizza, pasta and salads too. The toilets have recently had a revamp and are clean and modern. This place is always packed in the summer, and always has people in it in the winter. It's great and Matt was telling us there is a new menu coming soon which includes exotic meat burgers too - really worth coming here.
