I can't thank this company enough. They fixed our kitchen cabinet door face and saved us the cost of total cabinet replacement. We moved into our home and noticed one of the cabinet doors was warped and the face was cracked/ peeling. We were in a tough spot because if we could not repair this one door, then all of the cabinets would have to be replaced. The previous owners must have cheaply remodeled with discontinued cabinets. Everywhere we called and asked we were told we could not get a replacement door because our cabinets were no longer in existence. I called the Refinishing Touch and after speaking with Wendy I felt confident that they could do the job. They originally tried getting me a door and the profile did not match ( remember cabinets have been discontinued). I am a perfectionist and could not settle for anything, but a perfect match. They could tell I was not pleased and decided to go in a different direction by repairing the old one. They want to have a satisfied customer. They will work with you until your happy and in my opinion I think this is what good customer service is. My cabinet door looks brand new and perfect. I could not ask for more. I would go back in a heartbeat!!!!! I wish I kept the before picture of the door because it was warped, discolored and cracked. The first company I went to even destroyed it further. Save yourself the frustration and money. Very unprofessional. Work took 3 weeks longer than first agreed upon. I had to call on multiple occasions to see when my chairs would be finished since her communication was poor. We went to pick chairs up three weeks later and they still weren't done. Never said "sorry," and was only full of excuses. Wendy wasn't even going to give any compensation for extremely late and poor work (she eventually gave us a very, very small discount and was very rude about it). We have to fix parts of our chairs where pieces are now missing. Please do yourself a favor and find someone else. UPDATE---My husband told me I was being "too nice" in my review because he had a worse experience with her. Wow, insulting a potential customer's intelligence and quality standards doesn't seem like a good way to attract and retain customers. When I told Wendy that her quote for refinishing two tables and our front door was 4x higher than the guy we had been using for years (he recently lost his refinishing expert), here was her text response... "4 times the price. That's laughable. That would mean that they refinish: strip, sand, stain and finish for $[redacted] dollars. Must be using products from Walmart. I run a professional finishing shop at standards that r obviously far superior to yours. U get what u pay for. Good luck." Not a good first impression. Awful experience. Liked Wendy at initial consultation, however very unprofessional, never on time, crooked hardware, crooked cabinet doors when reattached, terrible outcome. When I asked Wendy to fix over 27 pieces of hardware and doors, she attempted, but did not correct the problem as she did not even have a level. She was eyeballing it bc her hardware guy was "out of town" finally after 4 or 4 attempts, most of the cabinets were straightened out. Hardware is still uneven. It is 7 months later and the paint on the cabinets is chipping. read more

Wendy from 'The Refinishing Touch' in Wauconda was great to work with. She's very professional and honest, and will work with you to stay inside your budget. She loves the work she does, and it shows. The kitchen cabinet/drawer refinishing job (paint and glaze existing cabinets/drawers/boxes) was the only option we could choose that was affordable for our outdated kitchen. I had two other businesses in as well that quoted the job too high, one even recommended Wendy as she'd done his kitchen years ago. Not only did she and her team do a great job on my original cabinet project, she also did some demo work herself to remove a cabinet cutout so we could install a larger refrigerator. Unfortunately the modified cabinet replacement was unsuccessful, but she only said she'd attempt it as carpentry was not her area of expertise. She had a carpenter, Chuck Dreiling, come in to finish up that project, who did a great job. Wendy also helped me free of charge with my fireplace stripping/sanding/staining project and master bedroom faux finishing project. Her professional advice as well as technique training did wonders for our new house. I am very fortunate to have met Wendy and have learned an invaluable amount of information about refinishing that I will carry with me and use for the rest of my years in this house. Wendy and her team did a beautiful job on my dining room table & chairs. I had a solid oak table & chairs that I loved ( you can't find quality furniture anymore that's solid wood without spending $5 to $6 thousand & that doesn't include chairs.) I asked refinishing touch to turn my white finished solid oak dining room set into an exotic mahogany color that matched a mahogany lamp I love. I also asked they match the chair color to the top of my new dining room buffet. Take a look at the results in the picture. Amazing. Keep in mind, this dining room set & chairs were white. I couldn't be more pleased! They were also asked to replace the leather seats ( which were black) with a complimentary color. Wendy worked closely with me but also took great care to offer her thoughts & creative eye through the process which was a god sent. She understood what I wanted & gently guided my choices with an artistic eye. They are not cookie cutter refinishers. We decided to go with Wendy and her team for our big kitchen project - refinish our kitchen cabinets, get a brand new wood island top and window valences, also internal pulls/ cabinet organization. Wendy was fantastic!!! I had to relocate for my job and needed to get the house on the market immediately. Wendy was able to refinish my cabinets to match the existing color and other cabinets. She also rebuilt my warped wood bottom under my sink. It is a solid replacement with no edges and professionally done.
