As soon as I walked in for my appt with director, I was overcome with a sense of sadness and gloom…read more So many red flags! Nobody smiles, residents and staff alike. The director was terribly scattered and rushed; she offered me no literature (said she had none-- what?!?) and could barely answer my questions let alone offer me the courtesy of being present in a conversation. She had the gall to tell me she wanted to leave before she got stuck in traffic and rushed me out after five minutes. Unbelievable. She hurried me out so fast that I left my purse on the chair in her office but she bolted out of there before I could even stop her. It literally took the staff 45 minutes to get into the office to retrieve my purse! The young man had to climb through the window as NOBODY had a key. They took their damn time strolling up and down the corridor while making me late and horribly stressed out. It was an ungodly nightmare. I would never consider recommending this facility even to an acquaintance, let alone a loved one. During the very long and stressful wait to get my purse so I could get the hell out of there, I spoke to one of the residents who was there temporarily. She told me she disliked being there very much and there is a lot of regular yelling and screaming by one staff person who is also unkind to the residents. The staff appeared as glum and lifeless as any of the residents. Though I would be two minutes away from visiting my father there, I would rather drive 30 minutes and have him properly cared for with some hope of comfort and happiness. This place is depressing and disgusting and obviously poorly run. Even the parking area out front was shamefully unmaintained with piles of wet, rotting foliage on the ground impossible to avoid when stepping out of the car. It was all too clear the neglect was all-encompassing. The whole experience was frankly an embarrassment. I would absolutely look elsewhere. If they cannot manage a ten minute appointment to place a new resident, are incompetent even answering the phones, their priorities (if they even have any) are suspect at best, including suspicions of any positive reviews.

Darnell is a total character and runs the place well. The staff have the most wonderful, loving hearts and treat the residents like family. Marin Terrace is warm and safe and staffed by beautiful people. Thank you wonderful workers of Marin Terrace from all of Ewell's family.

I was…read moremoving my parents to the Bay Area, and we needed assisted living for people with memory issues who do not meet the threshold for memory care. Also, both of my parents had been dramatically declining for a couple of months, so we needed to act fast to get them new doctors with weekly appointments and consistent caregiving. Aegis Corte Madera is the right place for them. An excellent UCSF doctor visits the community every Tuesday, and she has improved my parents' medical care. She works closely with the nurses onsite, so there is clear communication and implementation. Both parents made trips to Marin Health (hospital), so it was not an overnight success, but their health has stabilized. I have faith in their medical care, and they are in better shape than when they lived in their home. The management is exceptionally welcoming. They made my parents feel like they belonged right away. The GM buddied up to my dad to make him comfortable. The nurses and caregivers display a lot of care and even affection, which helped my mom adapt. The management staff is deeply invested in each individual and will do whatever it takes to settle people into the community. The cost is high, and the entrance/community fee is too high. However, I could not find another option offering medical support, very comfortable living spaces, a sunny apartment with views of the Marin ridgelines, and lively community activities. When I looked at my spreadsheet, the monthly costs for almost all the facilities were very close. I bit the bullet and paid the higher community fee, and we've had an excellent outcome. I recommend Aegis.

They love when I bring our pets to visit and it really feels like a family atmosphere. The communication is good and getting better all the time with the new General Manager. What I feel is most important, is that the most of the staff has been there for over five years. That really says something about the company. The activities are really great. They include weekly field trips which include beaches, symphonies, and baseball games. Ever day there is a schedule of wonderful classes from exercise to poker! Everyone has been warm, friendly, helpful, and most of all they have been attentive to all of our needs.

I don't recommend working here they treat agency employees like $hit. And complain when they're short staffed, they don't wanna work there because they get overworked and disrespected period. My intuition was confirmed over the next three weeks as we went through layers of decision making supported by the Bello staff resulting in our realization our mother needed an even higher level of care. Failure? Absolutely not! Our mother's condition declined rapidly concurrent to her move date -- creating surprises for all. Bello did everything possible to make it work and continued to problem solve and provide workarounds until the family decided a locked facility was required. During that three weeks my mother experienced true camaraderie with other residents, was consistently treated with respect (even though she was a handful) and was able to experience Bello's truly homelike atmosphere without oppressive clinical or patronizing "help." Residents are supported to be as mentally, socially, emotionally and physically independent as they can possibly be, there is a focus on community issues outside of declining health (Juanita-the-duck's leadership permeates the facility), and each individual staff person takes ownership and responsibility for the Bello mission. What can I say? The place has a good feel. We were very reluctant to let go of Bello because we trusted them. Was it perfect? No -- I can attest perfection doesn't exist anywhere at any cost when it comes to elder care. I've learned that trust is far more valuable than perfection when it comes to leaving your relative full time in the care of others. We were told on the first tour that what you see is what you get and that seemingly simple, but precious truth bore out during our three weeks at Bello. I would highly recommend Bello Gardens to anyone wishing to place their relative in a comfortable community with experienced caregivers.

Easy maintenance, weekly cleaning, emergency call buttons in every room of their condo makes life so much easier for them! AND, the real estate transactions were so easy and straight-forward! Not knowing the first thing about these facilities, I reached out to Alan Brauner at Senior Seasons. I can't even begin to explain how helpful he was. He listened to our situation, provided me with insight and contact information on the local facilities, explained what I needed to know, and what to consider when reaching out to these prospective places. His advice was invaluable. He was always there for me, whenever I had questions. He was super responsive, emailing back or calling right away. And through this process my mom kept changing her mind about where she wanted to live (mid-peninsula near her friends, south bay near me), and so our requirements kept changing. Through it all Alan was patient and positive - something I really needed during this stressful time. I seriously have no idea how I would have handled this whole situation without him. I highly recommend Alan and Senior Seasons.

During COVID, she became very ill and was placed on hospice. After caring for her at home for 9 months, we were advised to find a long-term care facility. My mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer, kidney failure, and dementia. The care, compassion, and respect she's received here have been exceptional. A special thank you to Kelly, the social worker, who is knowledgeable, supportive, and truly cares. Carina, the activities director, is also wonderful and brings so much kindness to the residents. All the nurses, assistants, and staff have been wonderful. I never imagined putting my mom in a SNF, but I feel very lucky she's at South Marin. As a former long-term care volunteer ombudsman, I also want to add some perspective. I've seen reviews mentioning delays in care. The reality is that staffing shortages are a widespread issue across the industry due to policy and funding challenges. That said, the staff here consistently do their best under difficult circumstances.
