We went to The Rec yesterday for their Monday Madness night. It was a packed house, and their staff were super busy accommodating all of the customers' requests. We rented two lanes for the time, one for the kids and one for the adults--eight of us in all. Unfortunately, the kids' lane wasn't working at all, and it turns out they wouldn't be able to fix it that night. As most of the lanes were rented out already, we thought we were going to just have to get a refund and have the kids bowl in our lane. Instead, in the midst of dealing with all of the other demands on their attention, they were able to shuffle things around, and relocate us to two other lanes that were next to each other. We had no other issues the rest of the night, and had a lovely time. The manager/owner and his crew could not have been more professional, kind, and even-keeled. They brainstormed a variety of solutions during the controlled chaos that was happening with the influx of customers all coming at the beginning of the event, and wanted to make sure our evening was rescued and fun. We all ended up having a blast, the food was good, and our night was indeed everything we had hoped it would be on a summer night trying to escape the heat. Highly recommend The Rec! read more

Worst experience I've ever had in a bowling alley. Me and my family were on a road trip and decided to stop in to stretch our legs and as soon as we walked in there was a horrible smell that practically burned my nose hairs. Then we had to wait 20 minutes just to get a lane even though there were plenty open. Once we finally got a lane we decided to get food and the manager was screaming at the employees calling them names and racial slurs. To top it all off I saw a mouse run right under the managers legs and he just brushed it off like it was nothing. We left after that and can guarantee that we will never be back. read more

This is the worst bowling alley I've ever been to. Talk about Unsanitary the kitchen was a mess and my son in law said he saw a mouse run across near the stage. To make my experience even worse at the end of the night before me and my family were leaving we overheard the store manger yelling at all the employees and even sent one home. How can you rate this place any lower than 5 stars? I'm new from California and glad to have found this bowling alley. Old school vibe. Well maintained, although the seats in the bowling area are dated. Friendly and very helpful staff (best part about this bowling alley) Only wish there were more league options. 5 stars nonetheless! read more

Fun spot in keizer. It's a little run down, but never the less you'll have a great time. They offer pool, bowling and they have a cafe where you can eat or get a drink. It's usually a little quiet here but they have music playing occasionally. Great low prices here especially for bowling! Great food options. They are getting new management soon so things may be changing around her soon! read more

Only issue is that the food prices are ridiculous $21 for frozen cheese pizza and $23 for frozen pepperoni pizza??? Abbys pizza is literally across the street with cheaper prices for a large non frozen cheese or pepperoni pizza and absolutely way better quality. $12 for mini corn dogs come on mini corn dogs??? $25 for a sampler platter??? Reserved a lane for opening time at noon. Ball return wasn't working for any customers. After about 15 minutes, technician discovered a breaker was off. Ball return was then working, but now our particular lane had issues - it wasn't keeping score properly and would clear the pins after 1 throw. We were moved to another lane after notifying staff. I will say that the counter cashier was very friendly and apologetic. She didn't charge us for the hour we spent there. I'm out 6 bucks for the reservation, but not a big deal since the line was basically free. Nice folks, but they should spend a few minutes before opening to verify functionality of their equipment. Would try again since the staff wanted to make it right - feel bad for the folks who got their personal balls stuck and left in a huff. read more

For bowling alley elites who want to test their skills in Keizer, this is the place to do it. Regional tournaments are held here, families love coming here, and the juvenile kids skipping school love this place more than anything. Its a large bowling alley that almost looks like a theater from the outside and the parking lot seems to look full each time I pass by. Prices are reasonable and it makes for a fun way to spend the evenings, especially during their weekend cosmic bowling nights. Occasionally there are specials in which there are discounts (students / family / group), which make the experience even more fun. The last time I was here, there was smoking and it was extremely aggravating. Since they have lifted that rule, it sounds like they've really cleaned up their act (mind the pun). read more

We had about 10 bowlers between two lanes we had reserved. The bowling was fine very old school inside. We had people showing up at different times so we would add them as they came. The first add was no problem the keyboards worked fine no delay or nothing. Then a little later more came and we tried to add and the keyboard was not responding on either lane. We asked to have them added and they did. Then they reset one lane asking for the names and we gave them to them. So we walked back to the lanes and one game had not started. So I walked back to the counter as I approached the young lady behind the counter had the omg look on her face as I let her know the game was still not starting and she made it seem like an inconvenience that she had to come help again. They made us feel like we don't need to become here again. We wasted plenty of time trying to get the names added and games started that we lost a half hour of our time and nobody could care less. We bought expensive food and $9.00 per pitcher of sodas for our group. This will definitely be the last time we come here. The two younger kids behind the counter don't deserve a job that pays them acting the way they did. read more

This place has the worst customer service I've EVER experienced at a bowling alley. The employees are extremely rude and unprofessional. Don't bother calling to reserve lanes because they will not let you, if you are a group and want more then one lane. You should come in separately because they will not give you more than one lane. Lastly, I had to ARGUE with the women running the cash register because she was taking the entire $25 gift card for a $16 dollar transaction. Told me that I was SOL closed the drawer and tried to call over the next customer. That did NOT fly over well at all. needless to say, that got worked out after a heated argument. They kicked out a few different families. 19 kids and parents where disappointed. We where there for unlimited bowling night on Monday. The staff gave us 3 lanes to use because of our bigger group. After an hour we where getting told to leave because of a surprise reservation. Then we got told our children could finish up there game, but they shut off the lanes before it was over. They heard that we are a youth group but we are All different paying families who happen to go to the same church. multiple different families who happened to go to the same church getting together for a fun night of bowling and having the kids interact and getting to know each other more.Why can't we all go have fun together? Are friends not allowed to do fun things together there? can our children not have there friends there? Yes we are a group of loving Christian who got together for fellowship and fun times. apparently that's not aloud. It's the only night that we can all afford, but after the way we where treated I don't think we will be back. All different families, all paying separately, going to unlimited bowling night, that Was limited. We bought lots of food also. So think about going here if you have a bigger group, you might get the same treatment. read more

First, I have to say, I am biased or was biased about this T&C since I grew up going to leagues here. However that has so changed since our last visit. Had a group of 6 for which we were made to use 1 lane even though they had a free one next to us. Management's excuse was they would have to turn someone away. (Not sure why since it was paid for either way) Second, The High School Teams there forgot that other families are bowling, I mean I'm all for cheering but come on........ Also when we went to pay, we had each couple pay seperatly, One was charged one price, the other who had their own shoes, still paid that price while the third paid even less. Management could not give a straight answer on prices and kept just saying numbers till it added up ...... What ever happened to the customer is always right is not in affect here. I went with friends on a busy weeknight evening and we had to wait 30 minutes for a lane to open up--but they gave us free pool while we waited so nobody minded at all. Prices were average and everything looked and felt clean (and full of great people watching). There is bar attached to the bowling alley so you can buy drinks and a limited selection of food and carry it out to the lanes if you want. Decent fun in a typical bowling alley. I've got 4 kids, a need to entertain them, a penchant for good deals, and over 10 years in business and customer service. 1. GREAT deal for kids. they have summer programs where kids bowl free which is wonderful and a great way to keep them active and out of the heat. 2. bowling all around is good clean fun! 3. The location is good, right on River Rd, close to Salem. 4. The employees are hit or miss with customer service. Sometimes they are great, other times you feel like a burden. It has been that way for as long as I've been going there. I do go back for what it offers, but I do wish customer service had a bigger emphasis. 5. It's not too hard to find a time to bowl outside of special events and leagues. We go often. 6. It makes me cringe when business owners push their religious views (regardless of what those religious beliefs are, and ESPECIALLY if they are hurtful to others by referring to a group of people in other beliefs) into the community. It's not professional, loses them customers (and a business that doesn't mind losing those customers isn't a professional business) and it sets the tone and reputation for everyone who works and attends there. Luckily, its a great excuse to talk to my kids about how we are inclusive and how we love others, even when they are different. :) 7. close to Dutch Brothers! :) Bottom line: I will go back, and give them my business, but until community perception increases, philanthropic engagement increases and customer service improves, I wont be giving them 5 stars. read more

Came here with some friends the other night. I didn't bowl because of issues but everybody else seemed to have fun and had been here before. Place was pretty busy but it was a Friday night. They do neon lights and have flashy lights, but it's pretty paltry attempt compared to many other bowling places around. Overall, it was ok. Nothing stuck out as terrible, nothing was great. Eh, only went there due to a Groupon. Not much bowling space, lanes and all seats are super close to each other. Too compact. You are suppose to take your shoes off before walking by the seats to bowl yet there is no we're to sit to take shoes off, etc. Also, workers yelling to do things across the lanes (get walkie talkies). They would be more professional. Food was good and beer was a good price. Will not be going there again though. Union grove bowling alley is waaaaayyyy better. Also, if you wanted to bowl more games like you can at many bowling alleys you can't here. read more

Great customer service, everyone is relaxed and easy going. I tried the kitchen attached and it is DIVINE!! It takes a little longer than usual to get your food but it is FRESH and HOT. I'll wait forever if I can get fresh and hot food so there is nothing wrong with them in my book. Nice place. But you can't reserve lanes. We have a birthday party with 10-20 people and want to reserve 4 lanes. We'd buy a lot food/drinks and spend a lot on bowling. Instead they recommend calling an hour before to ask if they are busy. Yeah right. We need more certainty since we have people traveling. We reserved the upstairs room for our company Christmas party and Kathy told us that the room was used on a regular basis for company events. When we arrived, we were informed that the room was not actually a part of the bowling alley and that it was used for meetings. The kitchen area had dirty dishes and standing water. It was absolutely disgusting, there were NA posters on the walls, the trash was not emptied. It was not heated and the tables and chairs had food all over. Staff informed us that the room above the bowling alley is what they used to use for events but it is now used for storage and that they do not check the room that we were put in. We had outside catering and had to use our table cloths to cover the disgusting kitchen. Our staff were extremely disappointed and we were unable to hand out our awards to our employees because after eating, we no longer wanted to stay in the room. We bowled, hoping this would end the night on somewhat good terms with our employees. Staff at the bar area were friendly and informed me to call the owner and share our experience with him. When I did, he was apologetic but did not offer to reimburse us for anything. As a small local business owner I wanted to support other small businesses, unfortunately we will not be returning to Town & Country Lanes and I will not be referring anyone to this company.
