Ron the instructor is great. He knew my experience level was 0 and was very patient in explaining everything and showing me the right posture&grip. Used to play here 20-25 years ago when I lived in Salem. It was a well-maintained 18 holer easy to get on. Decided to play it today on the way back to Portland from Dallas...bad bad bad idea! I didn't think of reading current reviews and there isn't much info on their website, but figured how bad could it be. I quickly found out. When I arrived, there were people in jeans and sandals waiting to tee off. I paid 35.00 to walk and noticed on the scorecard that it's no longer 18 holes...just 9. First tee looked ok...got to the first green and instead of having standard sized cups, they have cups the size of the average dinner plate. Greens were mainly dirt with a bit of dead grass...the ball didn't roll...it hopped. After playing 3 holes in about an hour due to slow groups, I decided to just forget it and asked for a refund on the 16 holes I didn't play or at least for 9. She slapped down a ten dollar bill and said, "That's the best I can do. It's 25.00 for 9 holes." There's no way to verify the rate she quoted, (since their website has no information on it), or the fact that it's now a 9 holer, etc. I doubt if it's 35.00 for 18 and 25.00 for 9. "Golf" here is a joke and the people do NOT care whether you have a positive experience or not. Avoid at all costs. read more

Way more parking than I expected! We were here for a collegiate Cross Country event. This was a good venue for spectators, as the race route winded through the golf course. Lots of room for contestants and spectators. Wide open entrance for the race and a narrowed down finish line. The weather on this date was perfect for running and spectating! read more

They closed down the back 9 holes, the grass in the fairway is the length of what should be the rough, the greens are HORRENDOUS. Where there aren't patches of dirt, the grass is as long as the fairway grass should be. $45 for "18"(same 9 holes twice) & a cart. Should be no more than $20 for both. Played here before & enjoyed it, but it's gone way downhill. Won't be playing here again. read more

I played this course many years ago, and it was a good course for a quick round. I played it last week, and it is the worst course I have ever played. The fairways and tee boxes had grass so high that the ball would sit below the surface. The greens were horrible, and had 8" diameter cups! The bunkers were also bad with hard sand and weeds over-running them. It used to be an 18 hole course, but it is now down to 9 holes. The maintenance on this course is minimal to non-existant. Hopefully it improves, as it used to be a fun little course. read more

I've played a lot of golf in my time and this is the worst course I've played, bar none. The owners scammed my group by charging everybody for a cart, the greens look like a cow field, and both our carts died on the 8th hole. Clearly the new owners are pumping and dumping. Course is water damaged and new owners aren't putting an effort on improving it. I try calling multiple times through out the week during work hours but always go to voicemail. Never seem to be open either. Could definitely have a chance if it was actually maintenance regularly. read more

I have gone here a few times and have found the greens are getting worse and the fairways are not all that great either. They have closed the restaurant as well. I will not be playing there again until some effort is made to improve this course. read more

came here my first time golfing early December 2023, course seemed like it was in decent shape despite the mud. ruined a pair of new balances. tee boxes were fine but the greens were a mess, and they have very large putting holes like 8 inches wide. also the driving range is not the best, needs some TLC. read more

Oak Knoll Golf Course is the oldest course in the North Willamette Valley, with 60 foot tall Sequioas that border many of the fairways on the back nine any ability golfer will love this beautiful track. The golf course was recently re-acquired by Val and Diane Barnes who have owned the facility for over 30 years I have played here several times. The course is keep nice throughout the year. Call ahead to get a tee time, just to be safe. You can walk on but there isn't allows a spot. Avoid weekend because they are busy. read more

Oak Knoll is the best value ($$) for golf in the mid-Valley. You will not find another Par 72 course at this price point anywhere nearby. They also have a grass driving range, which is much better for your swing than hitting off mats. Oak Knoll appeals to my sense of history as one of the oldest golf courses in Oregon (1926). Huge redwood trees line the fairways. I've seen various critters out there including bald eagles. There is a good mix of Par 3, 4, and 5's, some with bunkers, and some have water. The course is fairly straight forward, but still a good challenge for a mid-high handicapper like me. The greens are in good shape and comparable to other public courses in the area. There is a clubhouse with a nice restaurant, bar, and patio. Prices are very reasonable here. This is where I learned to play golf and the staff from the clubhouse to the greens-keepers have always been helpful and encouraging to me. My one knock on Oak Knoll is the drainage, which is particularly awful. This means plugged balls and long rough in the winter (they can't cut the grass). However this is not a problem in the summer. read more

Rough greens faulty sprinklers that randomly turn on while your playing....the worst of it all was the owners complaining of the green feed, stating while im paying "why aren't the green fees in this area more up to date with other courses"... well for one thing thing this is more like a cow pasture than a golf course....don't complain to a person willing to pay to play here, i will not be back. read more

The course has improved immensely since last year. The greens and fairways are vastly improved due to increase in watering and more exact mowing. the greens have been aerated and have recovered wonderfully. It is even more of a great value than previously. The staff is friendly and helpful. I thought restaurant with it pub grub was fantastic. I just want to share my experience today at this golf course. After spending $92.00 before we started we were told on the first hole that "you need to sped up and play faster". Way to make our day. I have played at this golf course before and had no issues. We are not by any means great golfers but we pay the same amount ad anyone else. Glad the two groups behind had the nerve to complain. I guess this place is not where to go unless you are professional glofers. We were just out to have a nice time and enjoy the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Thanks for ruining our experience. I then called afterwards to talk with the person in charge and was told told I was talking to them. He offered up excuses about the range police they have and how he wasn't PR friendly. Not my problem. I asked for a offer of our expense was was told they couldn't do that but could give me 9 holes the next time I came. I explained after this we wouldn't be back. He then offered $40 which doesn't pay for their bad customer service. He said if you go during the week there is not the rush. I then explained that I work during the week therefore I can pay for golfing on the weekend. Just don't go there if you are not good at golfing. read more
