I really appreciate having a manager who is dependable and treats residents with respect. I have really enjoyed my time here. My unit is fantastic, especially with the spacious layout, large walk-in glass shower, generous walk-in closet, and in-unit washer and dryer. The building amenities--including the gym, game room, and the rooftop jacuzzi, barbecue, and patio area with great views--are also wonderful features. Additionally, I have lived in Culver City for over 20 years. It is a small, safe, and growing community. I especially enjoy being able to walk to the downtown area for the restaurants, shops, and park, as well as local spots like Big Sal's, a sandwich shop open until 3 a.m. It is a wonderful place to live. Overall, I have had a very positive experience living here, and I am especially grateful to have such a wonderful manager. Ellison truly stands out as one of the best managers I have ever had.

Cleaning staff of what I can tell might be only 2 people do a great job of handling the occasional mess. Apartments: Well maintained, appliances are pretty good, but all compact versions as the rooms themselves are pretty small. Decent amount of cabinet space, and high ceilings so if you can make use of vertical storage, you should be in good shape. Floors are concrete so while they are easy to clean, they are also very cold. Not recommended for families due to size, but couples can make due and singles will be fine as long as you don't have a lot of stuff. Amenities: - Parking is limited to 1 space per apartment which would be one of the few drawbacks but some of the neighboring streets have free parking with only 1 day where you have to move the car for street cleaning. Streets in the area are also very safe seeming.. Building has electric car charging spots also. - Gym Equipment is relatively new, good quality and kept clean. Nothing too fancy, similar to a nice hotel. Would be nice to have 1 or 2 more items but definitely adequate for a relatively small apartment complex. Also, never busy and 24 hours (although be careful after hours as I believe the person directly above can hear the noise from the gym). Two large TV's for watching games etc. - Coffee Commissary: This place is great. While it's not part of MLofts, it is in the same building and is a good place to do work. - Pet Run: This is a secure walkway where you can walk your dog. A great idea in concept but I generally walk around the block to the grass. - Laundry: 1 washer/ 1 dryer on every floor. Seems like not enough but I've only occasionally run into a situation where I had to borrow another floor's. Laundry rooms are relatively clean (as far as laundry rooms go anyway). - Common gathering areas: Firepit, common area tables and penthouse grills are all well maintained. These areas don't seem to get much use. While they are nice to have, I think it's probably because it's a bit awkward to have a gathering or to hang out in the middle of the common where you are in view of basically everyone else that lives in the complex (unless you're into that sort of thing). The penthouse grill area is more private which is nice, but again, I've never seen a gathering up there. - Wifi in lobby/gym: This seems a little spotty, but there's general cell service in the area. Staff: Julie the Property Manager and Stephanie the Assistant Community Manager are definitely a huge plus for this place. Both of them are very responsive to concerns and will go out of their way to take care of issues. They have responded to all of our maintenance requests within 24 hours. They even move all of the packages into the locked office before they leave for the weekend and put them back out in front of your mailbox to minimize the chance of theft. Residents: Generally young professionals who keep to themselves, very dog friendly.

My experience was incredibly frustrating and, in my opinion, completely unacceptable. I paid two application fees, submitted the documentation requested, and made multiple attempts to get clarification when additional documentation was supposedly needed. The most offensive part of this experience was being told that I had altered my pay stubs. I completely dispute that accusation. I provided my documentation in good faith, and rather than being given a clear opportunity to address the issue, I was left trying to figure out what exactly they wanted from me. I was also told that my co-signer did not provide sufficient income documentation. I specifically asked what additional documentation we could provide to satisfy the requirements. Natalie then told me to complete a "tax transcript," yet there was no option available to me to provide or complete the document she was referring to. I did exactly what a reasonable applicant should do: I asked for clarification. I even emailed Alex on Friday specifically asking what was needed because I wanted to resolve the issue and provide whatever legitimate documentation was required. Despite my efforts, I feel that I was given the runaround after already paying two application fees and investing substantial time gathering documentation. The entire process left me feeling that my time and money were not respected. Being accused of submitting altered documents is especially serious, and I expect companies handling sensitive financial information to have clear, consistent, and professional procedures for verifying documentation and communicating with applicants. I have requested the return of my two application fees and the removal of my personal information and documentation from their system to the extent permitted by law. I have also requested an explanation of the allegation regarding my pay stubs and clarification regarding exactly what documentation was supposedly missing. At this point, I am reporting my experience involving Alex, Natalie, and Frost Chaddock to the appropriate local, state, and federal agencies for independent review. That is not the level of professionalism or transparency I expect when dealing with someone's personal and financial information.

This review is strictly on the property, the location, the residence and the unit. First, the property is decent. It's nothing special nothing to go crazy for there's no pool. The gym is small and lacks equipment. There's no parking. I got my first garage parking a year later and I moved out the next month. So I didn't really get to enjoy that. Youd think when they're building a new building, they would add more parking in a secured garage. There's no storage units on site other than those small lockers you can't even put A Bag in. Second, the location is horrible. The only reason I chose this place is because I moved last second and needed to find something instead of paying more hotel fees. This place was brand new and looked promising so I gave it a chance. It's in Inglewood so do what you want with that Information. It's nothing but traffic due to all the events that go on Everybody speeds on La Brea as I'm typing this review two people lost their lives today on La Brea speeding so this isn't common. This is normal. If you think you're going to have guests, friends and family come visit you good luck. If there is no parking for you What makes you think there is parking for your Guests? Nobody visited me just because of that reason that there's no parking. And if they do find parking it didn't feel secure which I don't blame them. Third the residence here are grown adults who need to be reminded what is common courtesy and rules are, which is insane. It smells like weed majority of the time. Nobody cleans up after themselves or their pets. The gym has to get constantly cleaned up because people use equipment and don't know how to put it away. Hence the signs everywhere. Some of the people here are literally on drugs and let their dogs bark throughout the whole day and don't do anything about it. Anybody can get into this building as there are people who sneak into the building they don't even live here which is very concerning. There's always email blast, reminding people not to break rules and to follow the rules which is insane because these are grown adults and why are they being told not to break rules? It's just common sense as an adult. You don't break rules and mistreat the place you're living at I've literally seen people throw garbage and litter in the garage and outside the building and then walk back inside like nothing happened.. People use the building as a bathroom. I've seen homeless sleep in front of the doors multiple times and nothing usually gets done about it. Last but not least don't let the term "luxury" fool you these places like to say they're luxury apartments but this place is not luxury living. Having a home is a luxury, yes but throwing the term luxury is very loose over here. The units are not all that they're decent. The only thing I liked about mine is it was open. The bedrooms are small. The bathrooms are small. There's nowhere to put your shampoos or soaps in the shower and if you do want to put up your own shelving with adhesive tape for your bathrooms, good luck as the tiles are grooved and nothing sticks, and everything will fall down. The closets are decent sizes but still inside of the bathroom, which is weird. A closet should be separated from the bathroom the kitchen is not a kitchen. It's just the entryway that has a stove, microwave and a fridge slapped into the wall. There is nowhere to cook. There's no island and you can literally touch the ceiling in the Kitchen standing up. The smoke Alarm is right by the stove so if you even turn the stove on and preheat your pan. The smoke alarm will go off. I barely got to cook living here just because of that reason. you will always hear a smoke alarm throughout the day because people are cooking and it's right by the stove. I would not recommend anyone to live here as they accept anyone and approve everybody because they're trying to fill a quota. Many people move out and don't renew their lease for a reason.

I've repeatedly experienced or raised issues with unreliable building access, doors and garage entry, repeated fire alarms, and general safety. More recently, a resident reportedly had someone attempt to forcibly pry open her apartment door. Given the frequent police activity on this block, stronger security should be a basic priority, not an afterthought. I have respect for Taylor and Ariel, who made good-faith efforts to address issues when they could. The problem is larger than individual staff it comes down to inadequate investment in the property and resident security. Nice amenities mean very little when residents don't feel adequately protected in their own building. Good place to larp, that's about it.

The apartment and amenities were nice, but the management experience overshadowed everything else. Gabriella was friendly and helpful. However, any question about our lease or payments was redirected to Joel, and getting a response from him was extremely difficult. He rarely answered emails or texts, and his explanation was that he manages many other properties. That shouldn't come at the expense of tenants. The worst of it was our security deposit. We moved out on August 14. California law requires the deposit, along with an itemized statement of any deductions, to be returned within 21 days. I had to reach out repeatedly just to get a reply. We were charged $250 for cleaning, and when I asked for an itemized breakdown, I was told only that $250 "isn't unreasonable." We never received an itemized statement of the exact breakdown of the cleaning. Once I cited the California rental code, Joel said the check had been mailed on August 21. The check my mother received, which had the same check number as the screenshot he sent, was dated September 9, past the 21-day deadline. Dealing with this was especially hard because my father had passed away, and my mother was left to handle it. Maintenance was also a problem. We submitted multiple requests about a leaking AC unit in our bathroom. We were told it was fixed, but it kept leaking brown water for our entire stay. The walls and floors are also very thin. Our downstairs neighbor would bang on the ceiling just because we were walking around normally. If you're considering The Roy, be aware that the building looks great, but communication and accountability from management were severely lacking in our experience.

The natural light and open feel made a big difference for me. The location is hard to beat. Being directly across from Sony Studios is such a cool landmark, and it's about a ten minute walk into the heart of downtown Culver City for coffee, restaurants, bars, and all the new spots continuing to pop up. It feels central and lively while still being comfortable. Phillip and his team have been incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the entire process.
