Desperately hungry, you call and order from a couple different food chains and both fail on their deliveries. It is hours later, almost midnight, and you're cranky, irritated, and ready to crawl into a hole of self-loathing and disappointment. Jaded from the failed deliveries of the previous incompetent food establishments, you wonder upon Halal Golden Chicken & Pizza and hope that third time's the charm. Within half an hour the delivery arrives on your doorstop, several meal's worth of food all freshly cooked, filling, and for a good price. Sunday night has been saved and you can sleep soundly. How can I not give this 5 stars?

Little expensive , but I don't mind paying for quality. Wasn't the case here. Took an hour and a half for delivery and it arrived cold. The fish frys were a thin leathery burnt piece on a stale cold roll with funky tasting tartar sauce and wilted tomatoes. My friends first bite was met with a mouthful of bones. They were totally disgusting. In the trash they went after one bite each. She spit hers out. Now on to the shrimp and fries. 21 piece shrimp?. All the tiny greasy pencil eraser tasting shrimp was lucky to add up to four shrimp. the breading was like greasy cold saw dust. In the trash it went. The french fries were just as bad. I would have been better of taking the 28 bucks and threw that in the trash. At least I wouldn't have felt sick all night. I am not picky, but I feel I should at least get close to what I am paying for . This was easily in the top three of the worst food I ever had. I am surprised they are in business. Maybe a health department visit is over due. I know, If I want good fish fries, go to Teds or Genes fish fry. I am in the middle of unpacking after a move and figured I would sacrifice a little bit for a little convenience. This is no lie. McDonalds and Burger King blows them away. Do yourself a favor. We ordered for dinner, and my meal was $14 and came with a scoop of rice. I was a bit unimpressed with the sauce, which seemed a little watery, and I would definitely describe it as watered down. I think it would have been much more flavorful if it was thicker or more concentrated. The menu also says this dish is spicy, but I only detected a little bit of heat to it. Normally I find myself needing rice to go with curry, but this was not the case. There was some fried eggplant in the curry, which was fantastic, but the green beans seemed undercooked and overall, I was underwhelmed. (I get some very flavorful and delicious Thai Red Curry with tofu for almost half the price at the Chinese place up the road, so I was disappointed with both the food and the portion). My husband ordered the Pad See Ew, a Thai standard that he has enjoyed many times over the years at different establishments. We both tried this and agreed that like my dish, this was also a bit bland. The menu has a lot of choices on it, and I hope that the issues we had were simply an issue of this restaurant getting their bearings, but I don't see us ordering in the near future.

I ordered online and there was an option to indicate spiciness (I asked for HOT), special requests (I asked for no onions), etc. My General Tsos chicken was served in a black plastic container that actually didn't hurt it. It was jam packed with crunchy deep-fried chicken. Some people don't like their fried foods that hard (like my father in law), but I will take that any day over soft, mushy fried foods. The sauce was nice though not at all spicy. The broccoli was several large florets that were undercooked a bit and still crunchy, which is my preference again over mushy vegetables. The fried rice was plentiful and chock-full of vegetables that still had some bite to them. It was uniformly yellow and I doubt it spent a minute in a wok (unlike our fried rice at home, which comes out partially charred) but it still tasted good. Even the fortune cookie was crisp, with wonderful caramel-toasted sugar notes and a laminated fortune inside. High quality. Except for the lack of spice, it was a great version of takeout Chinese food. If I ever get to eat in and really stress that I want it HOT, they may get that fifth star.
