Sascha & Sibylle, owners/operators of The Raclette Stand.
Mike W.

Since this past July, my wife and I have run into Sascha & Sibylle, a delightful Swiss couple, serving up the most delicious Raclette (melted cheese dishes) in the San Diego area. Their pop-up restaurant moves around to various wineries (both times, we've seen them at Fallbrook Winery), breweries, and farmers markets. The service is fantastic and the various gooey, cheese covered dishes are delectable! We've tried The Works Platter ($17), a Pretzel ($13), a Raclette Sandwich ($16), and the Mac-n-Cheese. They usually offer several cheese options, such as Classic, Smoked, Wild Herbs, Truffle (my favorite), Chili, and Chimichurri, as well as special toppings like Chorizo Crumble and Habañero Honey Drizzle, among other things. It's the perfect pairing for wine or beer. They've also started selling their cheese to go. We bought some and made our own version of raclette at home. I highly recommend that you follow them on IG ("theraclettestand") and check them out at one of their next appearances. You won't be disappointed!

I figured we go to Extraordinary, but then I thought why not have prosecco at Vinarius. The owner was out in front and I asked if Paola was working and he pointed inside...and she was! We didn't have a reservation, but they gave us a table in front. Paola was really happy to see me and I her since it has been a long time. We all decided to order one of each of the desserts. It's been a while since I've been this decadent...who am I kidding...all I need are friends who are willing...LOL! Everything was so good! The prosecco, the desserts, the company, and of course Paola! She is such a gem! The whole staff is great! Looking forward to coming back for dinner! I love this small intimate space! Grazie Paola and Vinarius!

We started with the Bruschette alla Caprese, which was absolutely amazing, and the wine recommendation was spot on -- full-bodied and delicious. For our mains, my wife had the seabass, which was good but honestly lacked that buttery, flaky texture we were hoping for, and the risotto ran a touch salty. I had the seafood pasta which although very good, I would have loved a bit more spice and depth of flavor. Our server surprised us with a complimentary limoncello cake for our anniversary, which was light, refreshing, and such a thoughtful touch. Overall a wonderful evening. The atmosphere and hospitality were the highlights here. Definitely would consider coming back and trying some other mains.

This is one unique spot and absolutely worth visiting. Came here with a group (which I'd recommend…read moreto try more things) but heads up that there aren't large tables so you'll need to move things around if you're more than 3-4 people. The vibe is wild there- from creepy McDonalds figures to a diner-like bar and decor, it'll feel like no other restaurant or bar you've been to. I had enough sodium for the rest of my week, but man was everything tasty. The Prosciutto Sandwich was so tasty and loaded up with prosciutto. The meatballs were flavorful (and the sauce was great for dipping my sandwich!). The drinks were super cool. I got the freak nasty and it might've been one of the best drinks I've had in a while. Think a cross between a Gin & Tonic and an Italian sandwich. And the pickle beer was very pickle forward! The waitress was very friendly and was able to speak to all the drinks. I'd definitely come here again... just maybe not too frequently given the high sodium levels haha.

Parking down here definitely isn't easy, but we luckily found a spot nearby. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet when we arrived, which I'm sure had a lot to do with the game. We were the only guests at first, but by the time we left there were several other tables dining. From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely phenomenal. Our server made us feel so welcomed. We ordered: * Focaccia Bread: I personally would have liked it a little crispier, but you could tell it was fresh, and it had really nice flavor. * Burrata & Strawberry Salad: light, refreshing, fresh, and absolutely delicious. I added a little balsamic vinaigrette for extra flavor, but overall it was fantastic. * Amatriciana (with added meatballs$: you can add meatballs for $7, and they also offer add-ons like shrimp or burrata for around $6-$8. The homemade pasta completely stole the show. The noodles were fresh, perfectly cooked, and honestly some of the best pasta I've had in San Diego. The meatballs were huge, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Two was the perfect amount. To top it all off, they surprised me with flan and a dessert wine for my birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the night even more special. Overall, this place absolutely lived up to the hype. The restaurant is cute, clean, and welcoming. The service was outstanding, and the in-house pasta is incredible. Prices are a little on the higher side, but with the location and quality, it's completely worth it. We felt welcomed from the moment we arrived until the moment we left.
