We are visiting Paris for the first time and came across this place in walking distance of our hotel. It did not disappoint! We had braised lamb and the Guinness burger. Lamb was as tender as prime rib and served with crispy potatoes and vegetables. Burger was more than your average burger! It was my last night in Paris and my friends and I just wanted good food and good conversation to reflect on our trip, The Publisher delivered just that! It's an Irish Gastropub with a cross between American and Irish fate. The owner was there to help us with our selections and was very friendly and even hung around chit chatting with us! We even made friends with a local named James!!! Great beer selection, delicious burger! GREAT dessert!!!! It's on my "definite must visit again" list for my next trip to Paris! Our bellies were full and we had big smiles on our faces when we left! We definitely wished we had found it sooner! Do yourself a favor and visit the publisher! It's was my first time in Paris, and I was so jet lagged and hungry, so we found by this place by yelp and also the place is close to our hotel. The owner is really awesome guy, he help and explain about the food and pairing for the wine for us, the food was so delicious and I'm enjoying every bite. Before we went back to Los Angeles went back here and the owner surprised me with his new Asian curry dish. It just blowed my mind how he can come up with this amazing tasty curry. Amazing food! Publisher is an Irish style gastro-pub with a phenomenal menu that has daily additions. The cheesecake is a blend of French and American cuisine that brings out the best in both. The meat is black angus cattle flown in from Kansas and the bar is extensive. I would absolutely recommend the place for anyone stopping in Paris! read more

Loved this place and it's people! We went back Twice! The Food & Drinks ------------------- On the second night we visited The Publisher, and even though we'd had already had a late lunch, we simply couldn't resist the smell of freshly made fish and chips being passed around the room. What's more, they tasted great! Thick cut cod steaks, breaded and fried served with hot crispy fries! I don't think I looked up from my plate until it was all gone. The other plates that I saw around the room looked just as appetizing as well. Oh and for us Americans: large serving sizes! Nothing petite about these plates! The Spot --------- We literally found this late night spot up the street after discovering that another establishment we'd planned on visiting was already closed. Off the beaten path The Publisher boasts cosy, intimate tables and nooks perfect for a drink with the fellas/girls, family or even that special someone. If you have a large enough group you may want to get there a little early. The Staff --------- We went back twice! Oh you want me to tell you more!? Hahaha! From the moment we walked in the door we were warmly greeted by Stephan (sorry if I got the name wrong) and invited to sit where ever there was an open table/spot. For us English-only speakers: Everyone we spoke with spoke fluent English, something that was a great relief to us given a previous experience that afternoon. You don't know what you want or is there something you have in mind that is not available? Stephan worked with various sniffs and samples to make sure everyone one had something they would enjoy. He spent about 10-15 mins with my friend sampling different whiskeys until they found something my friend really liked! Everyone was very personable. By the middle of the night it felt like we'd all been old friends. The jingle from the Cheers sitcom really comes to mind, "you wanna be where everybody knows your name " Parking ------- Yeah this is where it gets tricky as there's not a lot of street parking around the establishment, but if you're coming here for the adult beverages, then that's what Uber, Public Transportation and Taxis are for! Bang-for-the-Buck ------------------- For the service and experience you get, it's well worth the price! Don't drink? Get the fish n chips! Conclusion ----------- Off the beaten path, cosy and a place where "everyone [can] know your name", check the Publisher out! Tell them Philip (from Chicago) sent you there. Hands down one of my most memorable spots during my recent trip to Paris! My friends and I were looking to have drinks, but did not want to travel far from our hotel. We searched Yelp and found what turned out to be a great neighborhood pub. From the time we walked in, we were greeted by the staff and made to feel right at home. Stephan (sp?) was extremely friendly and even taught us a thing or two about whiskey and the various flavors. Paris is known for the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, but we loved this place so much that we went back on our last night in the city. Aside from the great drinks and chill vibe, you must order the fish and chips! If you are being adventurous, ask for a shot of the Chartreuse! I will definitely go back again. read more

This pub is excellent! My sister and I came here after a long day exploring Paris. The staff was very friendly and we had great conversation. They made excellent drink recommendations, and were kind enough to help translate the menu for us. We each had one of the burgers, and they were excellent. The Publisher was a pleasant surprise for my wife and me. The casual atmosphere of a pub or braserrie but a passion for food that one expects from a Michelin star restaurant. It's French with some fusion and in my opinion, just right. For perspective, we ate at Le Jules Verne during this trip but it's the food at The Publisher that I keep talking about.
