We frequently come to Animal Kingdom Lodge for breakfast and they are not open yet, so we have not gotten the chance. We finally did! To get here you will need to head to Animal Kingdom resort, which Disney does not allow you to park at without a dining reservation. It can be tricky to get here, but I would recommend coming from a theme park or Disney Springs. The lounge is open from 4:0pm to 11:00pm and food service starts at 5:00pm. My wife and I had dinner at one of their restaurants so we went here first, they do allow you to come park up to two hours before your reservation so it worked perfectly. We enjoyed it so much, we also came back to the lounge after our dinner for another drink. The resort itself is all African, theming, decor, even some cast members. I love this resort for the feel especially since both my parents are from Africa. It is always enjoyable to run into a cast member from where my parents are from and get to talk to them. The lounge is almost in between two floors. You can get to off the lobby and it's a half level down. They sandwiched a lounge on the level and it is the only thing on that "level". You cannot get to it from an elevator, you need to go down the stairs. Im sure there is a ramp for strollers and wheelchairs but I did not locate it. It also over looks Boma, the buffet style restaurant. There are seats at the bar and then a few tables and couches around, but it is not overly large. We did notice most people stopped by for a drink and took it to go although there were a few people sitting. There were more sitting after our dinner. Their menu is slightly limited, especially with the wines, but they do have a full bar and then food as well. We decided to only get one food item as we were going to dinner. We ordered the Spiced Goat Cheese Dip which was served with Assorted Breads, like pita and pepadew chips. Fantastic! It was absolutely delicious and something I would order over and over. This dip was not overly spicy, but had a little hint, it was very cheesy and creamy and then toasted on the top so you got a little crunch. It was also topped with a couple of peppers, where I think most of the "spice" came from. We were also wanting to get the burger, which we heard was delicious but we will get it next time. We both ordered a couple of different cocktails. I ordered 2 different types of Old Fashioned. The first one had bourbon and the second one had tequila. Both of these were fantastic but I am preferring tequila old fashioned' s lately. I also order a classic Manhattan, which is another favorite and this one was delicious. I usually do not go for the specialty cocktails, since they are usually too sweet for me. All three of my drinks were very strong and I definitely recommend them! My wife tried a couple of the specialty drinks and then an African wine. She first ordered the Cold Brew Martini which had Amarula Cream Liqueur, Kahlúa Liqueur, Crème de Cacao Dark Liqueur, Stoli Vanilla Vodka, and Joffrey' Cold Brew Coffee. It was a good creamy cold brew martini, not quite an espresso martini but still good and she mentioned she would get it again. She also tried the Prickly Pear Mule which had VUSA African Vodka, Belle de Brillet Pear Liqueur, Prickly Pear, and Lime topped with Ginger Beer. She loved this one but she is a huge fan of Prickly Pear. It was not overly sweet and had a slight fizz due to the ginger beer. The wine she chose was the Rustenberg Chardonnay. She would have preferred a Pinot Grigio or Moscato/Riesling but she say this was really good. It was not super sweet, just a slight sweetness, not too tart. It was a good glass of wine and a great portion. This was a great lounge and one I could see us coming to for dinner when we dont feel like cooking. Food starts at 5 but they open at 4. We were seated for 10+ minutes with no greeting and when a waiter finally appeared he ignored us and went to a different table that was seated after us. We were trying to get a drink and app before our room was ready but thankfully after the miss in service, I got a text that our room was ready so we just left. Their vibe is dark, nautical, it matches the resorts. Everything is navy blue, its pretty dark inside, but they do have a few TVs. My wife and I prefer to come here when we stay at the Yacht Club or the Beach club but we have visited a few times just to get away from the park. We also stop here when we like to do the Yacht and Beach crawl. If you are not staying here you will need to figure out a different way to access the resort. They offer a small selection of food, mostly which are appetizers, but there are a couple of items you could order as a meal. Last time we were here we did see a few people order food to go probably back to their room. Something my wife and I always have to order is the Parker House Rolls and Spreads which has three spreads and 5 rolls. The spreads include Bacon Jam, Pub Cheese, and Citrus Butter. These are so good and actually one time we stayed we ordered these every single night, they are that good. The spreads are great on their own but even better when you mix them. I would prefer the rolls to be hot but they are still great. We also ordered the Truffle Fries served with with Roasted Shallot Mayo and the meatballs which has a porcini and parmesan cream sauce, pickled mushrooms, and chive oil. Both are really delicious and easy to share or even have both as your meal. The last thing we ordered was the flatbread. They have a seasonal flatbread which was French onion soup but we found out they also offer just a pepperoni flatbread which is not on the menu. This was a great flatbread, really cheesy, great flavor, not too heavy on the pepperoni but really good overall. For drinks I really prefer to get order off the menu and get either a dirty martini or a Manhattan. They have a full bar and can do most drinks. My wife loves their wine particularly the Dr. Loosen, Dr. L. Riesling which she finds around Disney. She also enjoys a good lemon drop martini. Overall this is a great stop, it is one of my favorite lounges. It is comfy, dark, not super loud, they have great food options and great drinks. I would say stop by when you can and check it out! We want to visit and sit down, and enjoy the view of the lake, but half the time we can never find a seat because there are tons of families who are waiting for their table at Chef Mickey's. I don't understand why Chef Mickey's does not have better seating for people who are waiting. I also don't understand why the servers at Outer Rim don't tell families that the tables are reserved for people who are dining at Outer Rim. Or put a sign on the table. Half the time we try to go here we can't find a seat so we turn around and go back to our favorite bar which is Steakhouse 71 downstairs. Their menu is pretty simple, they do have a pretty well stocked bar so you could order pretty much any drink you would like. They do have a menu with what they call their specialty drinks, however there's nothing super unique on there. I would love to see some sort of Spacey drink with their name being Outer Rim. They also used to have my husband's favorite bourbon flight which they have since removed. They probably realized that it was not a good value which is something we always said they were losing money on, since it was so cheap. I usually go for a chocolate martini here because they do have Mozart. They also have lots of beer and wine which is also good. The best part of this lounge is the view of the water and the view of the monorail going through the hotel. It can sometimes get loud when Chef Mickey's which is right next door gets loud. I don't really think that this is a place that you go to relax and enjoy a cocktail, as you would at Enchanted Rose at the Grand Floridian. However I think this is a good place to stop and get a drink especially if you're staying at the hotel. It's usually not very crowded, again with people who are actually having a drink at the bar. You're really just battling people waiting for their table. The servers are always very friendly and happy to chat. Overall I think this location is fine, it's not a place that we run to all the time, but if we are doing a monorail crawl we will try and stop here. We also like to come here and have a drink while we wait for bar seating at California grill, which is at the top of the contemporary. I definitely think it's worth checking out especially if you're staying there, grab a glass of wine or a beer or even a cocktail. If you're just waiting for your table at chef mickey's I think it's important to remember that outer rim is a bar/ lounge, you should not sit there to wait for your table. You are taking away tips from the server when they could be taking care of people who are actually spending money at outer rim.

As some say that the Manhattan was invented at the original Sir Harry's Lounge at the Waldorf in NYC, I had to try one here, and while they didn't have the greatest selection of rye, they had a few and the price was right (on average $8-$12). Unfortunately, I checked in on a Saturday evening, so I was only able to stop by once, but I would have liked it even better if it were open more than two nights!

I was a bit surprised but when I was almost finishing my drink, the waiter came to me and said "Ms Daniela, would you like to have the same drink?". The service is 100% personalized even if there are more than 45 people at the bar! The manager of the bar, Manny Belete was there and checking that the service would be just perfect. I had the chance to talk to him and he is a very nice person with a lot of experience! He has travelled all over the world. I also tried some hors-d'oeuvres and canapes specially prepared by the Waldorf Astoria, complimentary of Eva Cooper, Director of Leisure Sales since I was planning to organize some other events there. Since it was a long party evening and that I had to drive more than 30 minutes from my house with quite a few drinks, I decided to stay and see how where the rooms. I was lucky to get a special fare for the night and was even upgraded to their Suite! I'll write a comment about the hotel which is definitely one of my favorites here in Orlando. This was our first stop on our Skyliner Crawl. Their menu is not huge, they have a full bar with most liquors. They also have a very limited selection of food items, mostly snacks like pretzels, ice cream and a couple of sandwiches. They also have some specialty drinks. We chose the specialty drinks since we were doing the crawl. I went with the big blue ocean which had vodka, rum, blue curacao liqueur and lemonade with a glow cube. It was really good, it was light, not too heavy alcohol taste and had a great sweetness to it. It was not heavily sweet, I felt it was a great start to the day. MY husband ordered the seafoam refresher, which had coconut rum, blue curacao liqueur and pineapple juice. This was sweeter but I actually enjoyed this one better. Our friends ordered very similar drinks as us and they enjoyed both of them as well. They also have beer and wine, but I feel a nice mixed drink on a hot day really hits the spot. We did not order any food as we were just stopping in for a drink. I will say pay attention, some of the drinks come with a glow cube and they will charge you $2 more for that drink. If you don't want the glow cube, it's the same price but you get a tad bit more of the drink. The bartenders were really great as well. They were fast, efficient, let us decide what we wanted and offered suggestions. It was really great cast member interaction and a great start. I would highly recommend the Skyliner crawl (hitting all bars attached to a resort on the Skyliner) and I think this is a great stop. Even if you wanted to go over to a resort to get away from the parks, this would be a great one. Jump on the Skyliner and head over. Grab a drink and enjoy the Florida weather. Pro Tip- go to the right of the bar and you can get cups of water and ice if you want. Fill up your cup when your drink is finished and get some water, walk to your next resort!
