We frequently come to Animal Kingdom Lodge for breakfast and they are not open yet, so we have not gotten the chance. We finally did! To get here you will need to head to Animal Kingdom resort, which Disney does not allow you to park at without a dining reservation. It can be tricky to get here, but I would recommend coming from a theme park or Disney Springs. The lounge is open from 4:0pm to 11:00pm and food service starts at 5:00pm. My wife and I had dinner at one of their restaurants so we went here first, they do allow you to come park up to two hours before your reservation so it worked perfectly. We enjoyed it so much, we also came back to the lounge after our dinner for another drink. The resort itself is all African, theming, decor, even some cast members. I love this resort for the feel especially since both my parents are from Africa. It is always enjoyable to run into a cast member from where my parents are from and get to talk to them. The lounge is almost in between two floors. You can get to off the lobby and it's a half level down. They sandwiched a lounge on the level and it is the only thing on that "level". You cannot get to it from an elevator, you need to go down the stairs. Im sure there is a ramp for strollers and wheelchairs but I did not locate it. It also over looks Boma, the buffet style restaurant. There are seats at the bar and then a few tables and couches around, but it is not overly large. We did notice most people stopped by for a drink and took it to go although there were a few people sitting. There were more sitting after our dinner. Their menu is slightly limited, especially with the wines, but they do have a full bar and then food as well. We decided to only get one food item as we were going to dinner. We ordered the Spiced Goat Cheese Dip which was served with Assorted Breads, like pita and pepadew chips. Fantastic! It was absolutely delicious and something I would order over and over. This dip was not overly spicy, but had a little hint, it was very cheesy and creamy and then toasted on the top so you got a little crunch. It was also topped with a couple of peppers, where I think most of the "spice" came from. We were also wanting to get the burger, which we heard was delicious but we will get it next time. We both ordered a couple of different cocktails. I ordered 2 different types of Old Fashioned. The first one had bourbon and the second one had tequila. Both of these were fantastic but I am preferring tequila old fashioned' s lately. I also order a classic Manhattan, which is another favorite and this one was delicious. I usually do not go for the specialty cocktails, since they are usually too sweet for me. All three of my drinks were very strong and I definitely recommend them! My wife tried a couple of the specialty drinks and then an African wine. She first ordered the Cold Brew Martini which had Amarula Cream Liqueur, Kahlúa Liqueur, Crème de Cacao Dark Liqueur, Stoli Vanilla Vodka, and Joffrey' Cold Brew Coffee. It was a good creamy cold brew martini, not quite an espresso martini but still good and she mentioned she would get it again. She also tried the Prickly Pear Mule which had VUSA African Vodka, Belle de Brillet Pear Liqueur, Prickly Pear, and Lime topped with Ginger Beer. She loved this one but she is a huge fan of Prickly Pear. It was not overly sweet and had a slight fizz due to the ginger beer. The wine she chose was the Rustenberg Chardonnay. She would have preferred a Pinot Grigio or Moscato/Riesling but she say this was really good. It was not super sweet, just a slight sweetness, not too tart. It was a good glass of wine and a great portion. This was a great lounge and one I could see us coming to for dinner when we dont feel like cooking. Food starts at 5 but they open at 4. Reservations are booked months in advance for the actual restaurant, but the lounge is very casual, and you can get a walk-in spot pretty easily. The menu is also the same between both areas. The lounge doesn't naturally serve you the complimentary warm bread and butter, but we were able to request it! Most tables are 2 or 4-seats. It's possible to be seated in a spot where the sun's shining down on you (though most seats are covered), but you can request to move. The area is quaint, as you can watch various people and characters pass. On my quest to try Disney's most revered dishes, I was here specifically for the cobb salad. It was a good cobb salad - very filling and heavily sauced. It's a lot of flavors packed into one, and a mix of sweet, salty, meaty, savory, acidic, funky, and creamy. There's also a lot of textural delight, as everything is chopped so finely. Best of all, the ingredients taste very fresh. While I enjoyed it, I can't say I'd get this again at the $30 price point. However, we did thoroughly enjoy the salted butter with fresh hot bread. Also got a cute light cube in my soda drink for a souvenir.

We were seated for 10+ minutes with no greeting and when a waiter finally appeared he ignored us and went to a different table that was seated after us. We were trying to get a drink and app before our room was ready but thankfully after the miss in service, I got a text that our room was ready so we just left. It is directly next door. The lounge has seating at the bar, a few high top tables, and then tables partnered with couches or benches. It is really designed to be a low key, relaxing lounge. We like to come here when we stay at the resort as well as just heading over when you want some relaxation with food and drinks. They do serve a small selection of food and specialty cocktails as well as beer and wine and a fully stocked bar. I have personally tried a couple of the specialty drinks as well as just ordered off the menu. I really prefer this lounge when staying at the resort, you can head down from your room and grab dinner and drinks and then head back. If you are not staying here you will need to get over to the resort in another way. On our last visit and actually every visit, my husband and I have to get the Parker House Rolls and Spreads which has three and includes the Bacon Jam, Pub Cheese, and Citrus Butter. These also come with 5 rolls. This is such a great snack, starter, whatever you want to call it. They are so good, the spreads are each delicious on their own but even better when you pair them together. My only thing would be the spreads should be not as cold, they are hard to spread on the rolls since they are cold and the rolls are also not warm. But it is minor. We also enjoy the Truffle Fries served with with Roasted Shallot Mayo. These are a good snack, very truffle heavy but still very good. If you are looking for something more substantial then I would recommend the Seasonal Market Flatbread which will vary. But what they also dont tell you if that they have a pepperoni flatbread not listed on the menu. We ordered the pepperoni last time and it was hot, crispy, had a great cheese pull and was really good. Solid flatbread. We also ordered the meatballs which has a porcini and parmesan cream sauce, pickled mushrooms, and chive oil. These were fantastic meatballs. I really enjoyed them. It had great flavor, and came with 4 meatballs. They also serve other food items such as a burger, wings and salads. The food is great. For drinks I really prefer to get what I love which is a lemon drop martini. I also enjoy some of the wines they offer. If you want a specialty cocktail then I would recommend the Seaworthy Breeze Absolut Vodka with Grapefruit and Cranberry Juices. It was a nice cocktail, not super sweet, but more on the tart side. Overall this is a great stop. We really enjoy sitting here an relaxing with some appetizers and cocktails. You can make a meal out of the food as well if you want. No reservation required, there have a decent amount of seating. I would say stop by and check it out.

You will need a park ticket to visit this bar. This is one of our always stop when visiting Animal Kingdom. This is just a bar, nothing fancy, but the bartenders are always great, the drinks are good, there is usually a special cocktail, the atmosphere around the bar is always upbeat and you might even catch a live performance while sipping on your cocktail. This bar has different options including specialty beer, wine and a basic stocked bar with some cocktails. There is usually a specialty cocktail of the month or quarter or event happening as well. I usually pick either a specialty beer or make a cocktail with the liquors they have. My wife usually chooses the specialty drinks. We have always enjoyed the drinks at this bar. Some of their drinks are pre batch made but for batch-made drinks, they are not terrible and still pack a nice little punch. Recently we ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita, which was originally designed to celebrate Hispanic and Latin American cultures. This was meant to be a limited time drink and it is still available, but I have no idea for how long. It is really good, one of the better drinks we have had. Hopefully it is popular so it will stay on the menu permanently. Another popular drink is the Ngumu Jungle Juice. This one is also very refreshing and a good one to order if you are unsure. I would definitely recommend this bar. They have great drinks, really friendly bartenders, lots of seating at the bar and also around it. It is perfect to grab before waiting in line for the safari or Lion King show. You cannot bring drinks into the Lion King Show but if there is a line, this is the perfect stop while you wait. It reminds me of a sports bar, they do have 1 TV so not crazy. I also usually see adults, particularly men, coming here to grab a drink to go. This spot is directly next to Chef Mickey's, which mean it can get loud and it can be really hard to grab a seat. My biggest issue with this spot is the people who have zero intention of buying a drink, sit at the tables or the lounge chairs and wait for their table at Chef Mickey. There is a really great view of Bay Lake but it can be so hard to sit here and enjoy a drink and the views. I do wish the cast members did a better job at Outer Rim and Chef Mickey telling people it is a not a waiting area. I also do not understand why Chef Mickey's does not have better waiting benches or seats. I do feel for the servers because the guests are taking up seats from those that would actually spend money and grab a drink. My wife and I have had to leave because there were no seats. The menu is simple, just drinks, no food. There is a pretty well stocked bar along with a few of their "specialty" drinks. They are nothing super fancy and I do think if they had some themed drinks to their name, outer rim, they would be more popular. I also used to love ordering their bourbon flight which they have recently removed. It was one of the best deals and I'm sure Disney realized they were offering this at a steal! I would say the best part of this lounge is the views of Bay Lake and getting to watch the monorail going through the hotel. It can be relaxing in the middle of the day when Chef Mickey's is closed and it is quiet in the hotel. As I said, I think this is more of a stop for people to run in and grab a quick drink to go. Overall this spot is fine. We do not run here all the time, esepcially when our favorite lounge is on the first floor, but we will swing by from time to time. It is a great stop if you are partaking in the Monorail Crawl. If you want food or a snack, the quick service location is directly across from here as well. You are able to grab food and bring it into the lounge. I would say it is worth looking at, it could use some updating, maybe walling off the side of Chef Mickey's and making it more enclosed, refreshing the carpet but the drinks are solid. But please if you are just waiting for your table at chef mickey's, remember that outer rim is a bar/ lounge. Do not sit here to wait for your table, you are taking away tips from the server.

However, it is the home to the famous Yehaa Bob, which does draw people here. My wife and I worked for Disney for many years and never got to see this show. We had dinner at Boatwright's so decided to stay for the show. It is on the larger side for a lounge, with a few seats at the bar and then many tables around the lounge. Not every seat has a great view of the stage, so if you are coming to see Yehaa Bob, you need to grab your seat early. We sat very close to the stage but got there an hour early and just enjoyed a couple of drinks while waiting. There is a menu with a few special drinks, but there is also a full bar and you can order pretty much anything you like. There is also beer on tap, bottles and wine. There is a food menu, we were very full so we didnt even look at it, but I did see someone order chicken wings. You could also bring in food from the quick service location down the hall which a big table did. We did however, order dessert. We ordered the Banana Cream Pie Cheesecake which had Toasted Meringue, Caramelized Bananas, and Banana Liqueur-Caramel Sauce. This was one of the best desserts I have had and I do not even enjoy sweets. But this was really good! Drinks we just ordered our favorite cocktails, nothing from the menu. We decided to make it a night and had dinner at Boatwrights next door and then finish the evening at River Roost. There are a few seats at the bar and then many tables. If you want to see actually see Yehaa Bob, I would suggest getting there early. There are two different shows and it filled up quickly. Luckily we were there about an hour early but again absolutely worth it, our seats were fantastic, right near the stage. They do have a drink menu with a few special drinks, but they have a full bar so you can order your favorite cocktails, beer and wine as well. They also had a food menu, which we did not look at since we had just finished dinner. I did see people ordering wings though. The quick service location is right down from the lounge, so you could also get food there and bring it into the lounge. We did order a dessert, and went with the Banana Cream Pie Cheesecake which had Toasted Meringue, Caramelized Bananas, and Banana Liqueur-Caramel Sauce. This was fantastic even from my husband who does not even enjoy desserts, really enjoyed this one. It was really delicious, had caramelized bananas and was a great dessert. Don't get me wrong it get it; at 10pm the rooms facing the atrium have the expectation that the lobby bar will get quiet and the noise is loud so moving the after 10pm crowd to the lower level makes sense. I just wish it has something else. It just feels like minimum effort was put into Blue. Maybe because it is so open with a high ceiling? Not sure. As for the bartender however they are top notch and are usually the same ones that are in the lobby. Great and mixing the drinks as well as conversing. Very friendly. Not a bad spot after a day at Disney and in need of a nightcap and a little peace n quiet.
