We were headed to a place I was familiar with and while going down Main Street saw Burning Barrel. I quickly hoped on their website and rattled off a few items and we pulled into the closest parking lot and made our way over. The restaurant was empty of guests and the young man at the counter was welcoming, asking if this was our first visit, and showed us the food and drink menu and the board of current craft beers. I chose the Longhorn (tri tip) sandwich and fries and a Lillikoi Mai Tai, and the spouse chose the Pastrami Sandwich and a beer called Dank. They do not do table service so after ordering we grabbed a seat. This is a pretty large open space with an outdoor patio, several roll up doors and misters at the outside. Shortly after sitting down a server came over with our meals. I started with a french fry, and I have to say these are the best french fries I have ever had, in my life time. I don't know if its the way they cut the fries, the way they are seasoned, what they are fried in or all of the above, but they were delicious! Our sandwiches were outstanding! Both were incredibly flavorful and filling, and even after I was full I continued eating because everything tasted SO GOOD. The drinks were excellent too, so good that we ordered a second round. The young man at the counter also made my mai tai and did an excellent job. About halfway into our meal other guests started to arrive and by the time we left there were at least 4-5 parties of guests in the restaurant. I will absolutely return, and highly recommend Burning Barrel. I was also pleased to see that they have a Rancho Cordova location, which is a little closer to my home in the Valley. Thank you Burning Barrel for the excellent food, drinks and customer service! You made our great day even better!

As for food: the fries are cooked perfectly, and the pretzel, is a good pretzel. The cheese sauce is trash. It is so bland and even grainy, there was no point consuming it. The mustard was much better. Now the important part for safety: All the napkins and utensils are inside. They bring the food to your table but you are expected to get those other things. I was here alone and did not plan ahead. I did not feel safe leaving my drink and food alone outside, so I could go inside to get a napkin. So I will probably try this place again but there are some issues.

The food options are coming from food trucks so it varies depending on when you go. The customer service at the front was great. Super friendly people. The person in the back seemed like she was having a bad day so we gave her some grace. The whole atmosphere is great. We loved that the cellar was designed like a cave. The front was set up like a beer garden. We definitely would come here again. One last thing, all the bathrooms were broken so you had to treck down to the driveway to use a blue porta pottie. The only suggestion I would make is while the doggie they have as their logo is adorable as heck I think they might be happier if they used our dog instead. Totally joking of course, please don't take me seriously!!

There are plenty of beers, ciders, and other options to choose from, so it is easy to find something for just about every taste. My favorite was the West Coast Pilsner. It was crisp, refreshing, and exactly what I was looking for. The food trucks were also a big plus and made it easy to grab a great meal while hanging out and trying a few drinks. Great beer, good food options, and a fun casual setting. Definitely worth a stop, and I would happily come back for another West Coast Pilsner.

We chose to wait and we received such a friendly and welcoming experience from start to end despite how busy they were. I appreciated our host's transparency about appetizers coming out at the same time as our entrees because their kitchen was slammed. We were totally okay with that and were immediately excited to eat the food once it got to us. It was just as delicious as it looks in pictures. Appetizers that we ordered: - Spam Musubi 5/5 - Hawaiian Style Poke 3.5/5 (it tasted very fresh but was very overstated. We still enjoyed it) Entrees: - Paniolo Burger with extra bacon and avocado 5/5 - Mahi Mahi sandwich 4.5/5 For drinks, my partner had their latest west coast IPA and I had a cider from a local place that was a bit too sweet for my preference. We sat outside since we had our two dogs and their outside patio is dog friendly. Overall, experience was a 5/5 for us and we will definitely be back to experience Tropics again when we are in the area. It's nice to have this as an option over the abundance of American food there seems to be in the area.

I have to say that a big part of this review as well was just how hellishly hot the restaurant was, if this is normally what you keep your thermostat to, y'all gotta be trying to really bring the island summer inside... I think I wetted my chair with sweat. But let's talk food, coconut shrimp were fine but just seemed like the normal run of the mill frozen bag, the bummer was the sauce, sauce for coconut shrimp to me should always be orange based, this was straight up a bottle of Mae Ploy Sweet Chili in a ramekin. The Crispy Sweet and Tangy beef, had an good texture but the flavor itself was really boring, again funny enough appeared to have Mae Ploy Sweet Chili dumped on top, it's really easy to make these sauces in house and make them unique. I was not able to taste the tacos, but my fried was NOT a fan, said the sauce was way off of what a fish taco should be and the fish was not blacked, that much was clear. Blackened means black y'all, crank up the heat and lay on the spice. Last thing was the Chicken Karrage, again ok texture, crunchy chicken but also chewy. The bummer was no sauce, whatsoever. Chicken Karrage has a specific sauce you would think it comes with, if not that the something unique. best we could do was the sauce from other our dishes, and soy. Come on again y'all, put some love into your menu. Little Sriracha Aoli would have made us happy there.

Well... our "quick stop" definitely changed the rest of our plans. When we ordered, we were warned that the food might take "a while." Totally understandable it was Labor Day weekend and the place was busy. What we didn't expect was an hour and a half wait for our food. Seriously, it was well over an hour. Thankfully, the brewery itself is a nice place to hang out. We ordered a flight, sampled several local brews, and ended up ordering more drinks while we waited...and waited. The patio is relaxing and the views are beautiful, so at least we had a good place to kill some time. You could definitely feel the frustration building around us, though. Other guests were getting hungry and wondering where their food was too. From what we could see, the kitchen appeared to have only a couple of people working, so they may have simply been understaffed for the holiday crowd. After 1.5 hours, our 18-inch pepperoni and sausage pizza finally arrived. Unfortunately, after that kind of wait, I was expecting something amazing. It was pretty mid. The ingredients and flavor were decent, but the center was extremely soggy we actually had to eat parts of it with a fork. The fries, on the other hand, were hot and crispy. The biggest disappointment wasn't necessarily the pizza; it was losing 1.5 hours of our day waiting for it. We had other Apple Hill adventures planned, and that delay basically pushed everything else back. Great patio, beautiful setting, and we enjoyed trying the local brews. But based on this experience, I wouldn't come back for the food unless I could see that the kitchen was fully staffed and moving. Maybe we caught them on a bad Labor Day, but for this visit, it's a pass for me.
