We used to stop here on the way to Tahoe, but our last experience was not good. My husband and I had a terrible time here. We will not be back. I don't post often or review often but I feel I have to. My husband and I have a cabin up here. We often travel from the Bay Area to Tahoe and stop at Pine Lodge to see our favorite bar and visit Sly Park. The service has gone down hill. The drinks aren't as strong (It isn't that hard to make a stiff Cape Cod, and the daytime Bartender didn't even know what that was. He knew how to talk about his beef jerky he makes though.) Our favorite bartender isn't here anymore which was a disappointment . The women's bathroom was filled with trash and the place had garbage on the floor. One of the off duty bartenders was at the bar talking shit about my husband when he went to the bathroom and she thought I couldn't hear. There were cigarette butts all over the ground when we walked in and it was midday. We won't be coming in much anymore. read more

I used to drink here all the time, but it's gone down hill recently. I could always guarantee a drink quick and Friday night I went in and waited five minutes for a drink while the Bartender talked with someone at the end of the bar. Then she came over very friendly like I hadn't been sitting there. She even noticed me and looked away. The bartenders used to be prompt and fun. They had energy and served us well. Now they only focus on the men and don't care about women sitting alone at the bar. They also used to have food and snacks for us, that seems to have gone away. Pine Lodge has always been fun, now it feels like everyone is sad. No usual faces, just a bunch of druggies at the bar. What happened? read more

I really like it and gave it four stars instead of five just because I think any place that serves alcohol should have a bit more on the food menu even if it's just more substantial snacks. Ehh.. ok first, the pros- bartender was super nice and this is really the only bar in this area, so they have that going for them. Drinks were not terribly priced and they were stiff too, which is always appreciated. But oh my goodness the cons... I walked in the front door to a guy blowing pot vape smoke into my face, looked at the bar and there was a lady holding a baby up to her chest and with a toddler hanging on her leg, sitting right at the front! There was a dog running around (not sure who it belonged to) and the rest of the patrons... well, they looked like they were Pollock Pines lifers- super rough and kinda scary. Pool tables were nice, cheap to play, and it ended up being a good time- probably not the first place I'd choose if I were planning to go out on a Friday, but once you get over the crowd of unusual folks, I could see how this dive bar could grown on you. read more

Always a great stop on the way home from snowboarding. Lots of friendly locals and dogs! In winter there is always a nice fire going which I totally dig! Two pool tables, shuffleboard, cheap drinks. Staff is friendly and accommodating. read more

Moved to Pollock very recently. Love my dive bars. This place is very dependent on time of day. Come around 3- all the redneck Trump support ers you want. Come at 10- kind of a chill hipster vibe - kind of. A very interesting place and after 6 months here I like it. It's also the only real bar here so if you hate it, your options are limited. read more

We were of the unfortunate to be stuck in horrible traffic going East and West on 50 February 15, 2019. We only live 25 mins away and were in the car for 8 hours. We thought by taking Pony Express Trail we would get past the mess and home faster...we were wrong. We made the best of a really bad situation. As we sat in our cars, not moving, just west of Pine Lodge, a woman came up to our car door offering freshly made hamburgers. It was the owner of Pine Lodge. We all had not eaten dinner as it was 9p at night and had a car full of kids. It was such a welcome offering. She went from car to car offering hamburgers. We offered her money but she refused. She just wanted to do something nice for all of us stuck in that horrible traffic. The hamburgers were awesome! We will definitely be stopping by really soon. I love local hangouts with good hearted people who are welcoming to everyone. Pine Lodge exemplified that on a night that was a tough one for so many families. Few places leave you looking for an explanation on what you did this weekend. Most times you can stammer out a "had a great time" or "had a lot of wine" or "I helped bury a body". But a night at the Pine Lodge Club will make you truly appreciate modern dentistry and cheap, dark saloons. First don't let the club part of the name fool you. If you don't drink Bud or Coors, you're a fancy city slicker in these parts. Ask for anything other than standard drinks neat and they'll look at you like you have four eyeballs and a communist flag as a shirt. No sir, these here are som' good ol' boys! The electronic darts machine is about as temperamental as they come, the quarters pool tables role true. There is something great about playing pool in a bar that doesn't use lights, instead relying on the cornucopia of neon beer signs to light the way to the bar. In the end, this is one of those places you tell a story about the time you spilled a beer on the bar and 3 dogs jumped up to lap up the fallen suds, but no one believes you. This place is the hot spot in the Pines. As a local, I am hard pressed not to enter when driving by. The group is consistent. From the feisty (but stunning) Echo to Cajun at the end of the bar there is always something going on here. The regulars are truly some of the best people around. They give the Tahoe bound no grief, just a tip of the beer. Dive bar with personalities to the core. Be prepared for a rowdy but fun time where the bartenders are hot (Except Randy, Sorry Bro), the drinks are stiff, and the prices low. See ya there. read more

We stopped in this dive bar on the way back from a fishing trip and glad we did. The bartender was awesome, what great service. The beers were on ice and cheap!! The mixed drinks were tasty. This in not a place for the ritzy people! This is an old school bar with a fire place, couple of pool tables, flat screens and juke box. I saw that the have bands and bbq on the weekends! This is my home away from home. Great selection of drinks, great service from Hot bartenders...including Randy, who some find hot...LOL. I would recommend this bar as a local, haven't seen someone in a long time, want to relax and be bad and not worry about someone calling your significant other or the cops bar. The Pine Lodge is a Pollock Pines institution! Nice bar, good selection of beer on tap, decent booze selection - just don't expect anything hoity toity - this is more of a working man's bar. You'll find a couple of pool tables and a shuffleboard table inside. I've always had good service here and the prices are reasonable. The place can be hit/miss for crowds, sometimes it's packed out the door, other times you could count the patrons on one hand. Used to like this place a lot more. They have decent prices, and it's an eclectic crowd. Pool tables, nice area out back,. My business was driven away by very grumpy bartender . You can tell when she's working because there will be no more than 3 cars in the parking lot. She is surly, unfriendly and always makes you feel as if it is a burden on her that you dare to order a drink. However, there are some friendly and fun bartenders that work there as well. There aren't that many bars in this area so, this one will do in a pinch. read more
