I liked the daily food and drink special values, which are listed on FB under "about" and currently include $5.49 cheeseburgers with side (Tue), $0.75 hard shell tacos, $1.00 soft shell tacos, and $3.50 burritos (Thu), and $1.50 chili dogs (Sat & Sun). My $5.49 cheeseburger with waffle fries was served with a smile in just eight minutes. The tasty burger stood 3.5" tall when assembled, was generously sized, and had plenty of cool, crisp, and fresh toppings on a perfectly cooked, well-seasoned, beef patty. The waffle fries were over-cooked, but still okay. The service at the bar was welcoming, friendly, attentive, and efficient. I was surprised by the spacious and clean interior, which included plenty of TVs, a good variety of background music (not too loud), free wi-fi, a big bar, a nice seating area, a dance floor, two pool tables, two electronic dart boards, a golden tee golf game, a spacious patio, and (unfortunately) a very trashy exterior. Dingy dive bar with lots of specials. The place filled up as the evening wore on. Thursday's are 75 cent hard shell taco night ($1 for soft) and 1.50$ wells. Drinks are poured more on the light side in terms out alcohol, but 1.50$ is dang cheap. There were two waitresses for the entire bar, so at times, it took a little bit before we got service. You can always go to the bar to order as well. I also ordered the beef nachos, which were perfectly cheesy, greasy, and crunchy. This place is such in interesting find. They have a patio outside with umbrellas. It looks like your typical neighborhood/dive(ish) bar on the outside. My boyfriend and I went on a Wednesday or Thursday and their was a fare amount of people there! It is rather dark inside but I kinda liked it. We sat at the bar and ordered some drinks and eventually I got some food. I got chicken fingers, waffle fries and mini corn dogs. IT WAS ALL SO GOOD. I don't know what they do but it was amazing. I ate all of it. Eventually they had a DJ playing some musics (yes they take requests) and the flow of people was pretty steady. They also have dart boards and pool if you are a game player. My friend & I wanted to try a different place for lunch & a cold beer on Friday, April 28th about 12:45pm. I had heard good things about this place: comfortable, friendly, fun, good bar. I have friends that come here as regulars. We walk in, there's a guy bartenders with 3 people sitting at the bar. Another male employee was talking with a vendor at the end of the bar. The bartender looked at us like we were in the wrong place & Noone said a single word. We found a table & Sat down. We waited more than 5 minutes with ZERO acknowledgement aside from the looks. During this time, the man speaking with the vendor wrapped up, then went behind the bar & was talking to one of the gals at the bar. I love the Pour House. Its divey in a good way. Fast, friendly service. Always a good affordable time. Drinks are reasonably priced and the bartenders can make pretty much any shot you can dream up. Great variety of music played by the Dj. The patio is nice and service stays consistent no matter where in the bar you migrate to. The food is decent bar food. It used to be a decent little bar but it has gone down the drain in past 2 years. It smelled like sewage , the a/c was broken it felt like it was 90 degrees in the place. There was a girl behind the bar who was new. We stood there for 10 mins watching her do shots & listening to her tell the customers her life story how she just got evicted from her apt etc. she never once acknowledged us. It wasn't until the other bartender showed up that we got waited on. The place was filthy especially the bathroom. There were no paper towels to dry hands. My nightlife reviews will be a little different then the ones I have seen before. I will do some restaurant reviews from time to time, but if I'm talking about the "nightlife" I am most interested in the after 10:30pm scene, paying special attention to drink prices, the crowd, and of course the DJ. Being a DJ myself, I'm looking to find a club job on Thursday nights (hint, hint) and I want to see what the other Kansas City DJs have to offer. If this sounds like a conflict of interest, rest assured it as not as weird as it sounds. Usually DJs are only competitive in the beginning. After we get our confidence, it's very common for DJ's to be supportive of each other. I appreciate the other guy's style, and enjoy hearing what they do on my nights off. I always thought this place was a dive bar, but I was completely mistaken, it's more of a neighborhood hangout. For one thing, it's too clean to be a dive bar in my book. There are a couple of pool tables, a handful of video games and a large outside patio for smoking. The décor is comfortable, not fancy and the prices are reasonable (for drinks / food unknown). More importantly for the hangout aspect, I got the distinct impression that half of the people there knew each other. This was my first time inside, on the Friday of Thanksgiving Weekend, so the crowd was a little light. I happen to live 5 houses away from the Pour House and know for a fact it is usually very busy. Everyone also seemed to know DJ Will, who was the reason I decided to drop by that night. This was also my first time seeing him in action, and I'm sure I will be sure to go back and see him again and turn into one of the neighborhood regulars. Will is very friendly and approachable while working, he's got a lot of great music, and he's even mixing Videos! There is absolutely no way I can call this place a dive bar when they have 3 TVs dedicated to video mixing for their Friday Dance nights. Will explained to me that while the dance floor fills up, having the videos available keeps the rest of the bar interested and involved with the music. I agree. I expected to hear good music based on the full parking lot every night and knowing Will, but the video mixing was a pleasant surprise. Their entertainment schedule is set up as Karaoke on Thursday and Saturdays and Sundays, with Friday being the only straight dance night of the week. Since Karaoke is not my thing, you can expect to see me there from time to time on Fridays, and I would recommend it. It seems like a fun evening with an upgrade at the DJ position for a neighborhood hangout I would actually like to hang out at. read more

Update to my review 3/27/15 Well I have been going to Pour House for quite some time. The chefs have changed So the food has changed it has become more processed and tasteless I am going to have to change my star rating Today I had the grilled buffalo chicken sandwich see pic you will see how processed it looks. And it tasted like it If your in the neighborhood don't miss this place Over the last couple of weeks I have been there several times The first time I wondered if I would be back. The jukebox played nothing but Johnny cash singing songs that were written by someone else.. Not good But it wasn't loud just in the background But.. When I tasted the food I was sold The first item I ordered was the chicken wings.. See the pic With a side of chilli, it is Texas chili, meat and sauce.. It was hot had a nice spice warmth not over powering. Together the wings and chili was less than $10 I ordered the wings hot. They had the classic hot wing taste and enough sauce that you have to lick your fingers. The only difference I would suggest is to have the chef cut the wings at the knuckles. The next time I ordered their special a hamburger. It came out nice and hot the fries were hot and crisp. One of the best hamburgers I had in a long time. Ok so I went back again I ordered the French dip.. It wasn't over powered by bread like most French dips, the meat was hot and flavorful, not this rewarmed up meat, the au jus was hot and had a nice beefy flavor and no grease. I love a good French dip and this was one of the best I have had I went today.. I ordered the special.. Chicken fried chicken.. It too was very flavorful no need to add salt or pepper.. Just like everything else I have ordered. So let me say this is first and foremost a bar. But don't discount it. The food is reasonable especially for lunch the staff is friendly. They already know me by site and greet me when I walk in. Another nice touch is the chef brings you your order, it doesn't sit in the window waiting to be picked up, then after you have had a few bites he comes back over to make sure you are enjoying it.... Very nice touch.. Their general menus is very reasonable the lunch specials are out of this world specially if your budget minded. This is a place I will regularly visit. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because it is a dark bar But the food is definitely 5 stars read more

Mixed review/update ahead: Greg is still pretty darn awesome and cool. The food hasn't disappointed; I prefer their cheeseburger special on Tuesdays to most any bar/grill around. It's under $5, including fries, and it has great flavor, and is very filling! Drinks are fairly priced and good. My suggestion: if you want quick service, order at the bar from Greg. And stop in on Tuesday evenings for free poker, which has a cash prize for the top few players!! read more

Hidden gem of Shawnee! Bartenders are always super friendly and prompt when taking drink orders or food orders. You will not be forgotten when you're there, the staff will always be around asking if you need another drink or anything else. They have pool tables and darts, Dj's on the weekends and poker during the week. Food tastes AMAZING!!! It's a hole in the wall bar for sure but not trashy or filthy. read more

We went here for a friend's Birthday get together. Unfortunately this place was horrible for so many reasons. I'll just list a couple : First, the waitress "working" in our area was downright rude and mean. If someone happened to be in her way , she would just stand there and glare at them until they realized she wanted them to move then she would tell them off. (It was Saturday night and very crowded. Space was very limited) This woman's attitude was so poor, I don't understand how she has a job where she faces people each day. We literally had to tell her to not bother coming to our area anymore since her demeanor was so incredibly negative. Second, the clientele in this bar were I guess what you would call "country boys" who were constantly trying to get into arguments and fights with our group because our group included a black man, an Asian man as well as an eastern european. They literally said "their kind shouldn't be there" . This place is great! I love the burgers, and especially the waffle fries!! However, I do have a few issues. Unfortunately when you walk in you can immediately smell the carpet, it is very nasty and grungy, they need to either remove it or clean it extremely good! Unfortunately it takes away from the ambience of the place, I understand it's a sports bar, but the smell will run you out, but the food is so good. The bathrooms are hideous, they can stand a remodel and a cleaning. I would recommend this place but some people may be thrown off by the smell and by the way the bathroom looks. read more

Being a native of Shawnee, I can remember when the bar used to be Rita's, then Hattie's, then One More before becoming Pour House. It's clean, no smoking inside, friendly people. Their fried tacos are amazing and cooked in Crisco oil. Most mixed drinks are $3 each and have a decent amount of alcohol in them. No bullshit, no drama. read more

This was my 3rd visit to this dump & once again I left there feeling like I needed to take a shower. The place is filthy from the disgusting bathrooms , to the sticky bar, to the over flowing trash cans and the garbage on the deck. I don't understand why this place has 1 worker on a half way busy night. I don't mean just 1 waitress I mean 1 worker PERIOD !!! This dude was the bartender , waitress & he might have been the cook too idk ?! It was a Wed. Night there was a decent crowd there listening to some music on the deck. It took literally 15 min to get a bottle of beer. The bartender had a shitty attitude but I can't blame him he had glasses piled to the ceiling dirty tables , no beer stocked it was a bartenders worst nightmare. I don't know who owns the place but someone needs to tell the owner that a waitress would only cost him $2.15 an hour & it would triple his business. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. There was no way 1 person can handle a bar/patio of that size in a efficient manner plus attempting to be at least civilized. Every time I have been there the bartenders have always been jerks & now I see why. I am not in the restaurant business but I'm pretty sure anyone who is knows YOU NEED MORE THEN 1 worker on any given night. I saw countless people leave because they didn't get served. The bartender put 2 drinks on our tab that we didn't order. Again I will cut him some slack because he was busting his butt because he was the only worker in the place. From start to finish the place left something to be desired to say the least. On a positive note it didn't smell like sewage like it did the last time I was there.
