I had some old toner cartridges and asked Google where I could recycle them, and Google AI said that The Postal Shoppe on N Alpine Rd has recycling for toner cartridges. I then verified the information on the website for The Postal Shoppe, and it said, "The friendly team at The Postal Shoppe are big fans of the environment and always try to do our part to "keep it green" by recycling whenever and whatever we can." Along with "We encourage the residents and business owners of Rockford, IL to also do their part by using The Postal Shoppe as their recycling center.", along with a listing if items they recycle to include toner cartridges. However, when I arrived at The Postal Shoppe, I found the team anything but friendly. At first, I was told no, they do not do any recycling. When I asked about the website, the staff told me it was "not our problem", and "we don't care", and "we are not responsible for the website". When I pressed them on the information posted on the website, they said it was probably the old owners. So, I asked when the owners changed. They said it was 5 years ago, but again they didn't care and are not responsible. This review is for the attitude of employees at The Postal Shoppe. Instead of "I'm sorry we no longer offer that service. I'll let the owner know to update the website"; it was "not our problem", and "we don't care". This place was solid for years, so I'm not sure what has changed or if I just changed. But, it seems like every time I go in, I'm let down by something. They don't have QR readers, so it's not a solid choice for Amazon drop offs. Shipping via USPS tends to be far more pricey than going to an actual post office and using a flat rate. I don't know what or if anything can be done, if I'm being honest. But, considering I can go to USPS or an actual UPS store and get what I need done without incurring costs or higher costs, I can't justify using The Postal Shoppe anymore. It makes me sad, because of how close it is to everything else I frequent. read more

I dropped a package off for USPS here. They charged a dollar for the service which I was fine with. But, my package never got shipped. USPS has no record of it ever being entered into their system. When I called the store, they said I had to take it up with USPS. But, USPS never received the package! I can't even file a claim at this point because they don't have the package!!! What am I supposed to do? The Postal Shoppe didn't offer any help and basically said it wasn't their problem. I paid an extra fee so that my package would get to where it needed to go. I am very disappointed with their lack of customer service. I will not be going back. PS. I was a fairly regular customer. Until I actually needed some customer service. Same thing happened to me as another reviewer. Dropped off a FedEx package and got a dropoff receipt. The tracking on the FedEx website shows the package never got scanned, so there is no evidence it entered their possession. I stopped into The Postal Shoppe and asked if they could look for it. The guy was rude and unhelpful, simply insisting it was picked up and not their problem. I talked to FedEx as well, and even though they couldn't do anything for me, at least they weren't rude. Lesson learned: always drop off directly with the carrier. They scan it right then and there, and then the tracking shows they took possession. I have used this location for the convenience. I am done. I'm sure it's not all their fault. But I will not use them again. I will ship UPS. Even a letter I will box it up. I mailed a document. Took 20 days...sent regular mail. I then sent the document priority mail express. It cost me $60! It took 9 days. No holiday. No bad weather. I cannot seem to get my money back. Post office says I need to deal with postal shoppe. Postal shop says its the post office issue. Can't find a form online to fill out. Tired if the bullshit. Just came back from trying to mail my Christmas package to AZ and knew there was something amiss. They were going to charge me $67 to get my package to AZ by 12/20 and I knew that was higher than other years, so I went to the UPS store on Riverside and the same package was $49. We were just in the Perryville Postal Shoppe location yesterday and we tried to get 80 color copies of a map for our daughters wedding. The employee made the copies for us. The color on the copies was all wrong, super light and all yellow and the copies had extra lines at the bottom of them so we asked that they be reprinted to match our original. The girl helping us told us she could not do that and that if we wanted more copies we would have to pay for them. We asked for copies that matched our original and she refused. She also refused to refund our money when she would not provide the service that we hired her to provide. The employee who also said she was the manager was extremely condescending toward us. I buy almost everything online and have to ship returns back, sometimes through USPS, Sometimes FedEx, or UPS. This is a one-stop shop for all those services, and they are never annoyed with my frequent drop offs. I also shipped a package to Canada and they offered valuable insight about how to properly prepare the customs receipt, package my item, etc. Occasionally I forget to tape up the box...not often but I'm not perfect! This happened at USPS, and they told me I had to buy a roll of packing tape; they refused to do it for me. When that happened with Postal Shoppe, they taped it up no problem! I have been a customer of The Postal Shoppe since Larry first opened it at Edgebrook shopping center with folding tables and plastic table cloths. It was hands-down the best service and best place to ship packages from. It is now under new ownership and unfortunately I cannot say the same for the store under new owners. I went in today to ship something for work. I had a prepaid FedEx label. As I left the box on the counter I was asked if the box needed to be taped shut. I thought this was an odd question since it can't very well be shipped with the box wide open. As I proceeded to leave, the gentleman, who I presume is the new owner, told me there was a charge to tape the box. I verified that that was indeed what he said, there is a charge to tape the box shut . I was a little shocked since I assume packing tape is just a cost of business as a pack and ship. I proceeded to take my package, call Fed Ex, and schedule a pick up at my home. read more

Do NOT use this place. I never take the time to leave reviews but this place needs to be exposed for their terrible service. They are AWFUL. I had 2 girls refuse me service and kick me out of the store for not wearing a mask even though they are optional. They were screaming at me to get out, said they don't care if I contact the manger or owner. I told the manager but she just excused their behavior. They have sprayed other customers down with sanitizing spray when they walk through the door. The manager Kim is extremely rude and unprofessional. She's only nice if your package is "ready to go" otherwise look out, she'll huff and puff and roll her eyes about taping up your package and print your shipping label. I go in on the mornings right when they open a lot of the time and the manager opens often when I go in. She's always in the back and takes forever to walk out front. Then when she does, she's doesn't even greet you. She's annoyed that she's has to help the customers. There is always some type of issue with them when I go in so I'm done using this place. None of them enjoy their job so if you want a nice, professional experience, I recommend avoiding this place completely. read more

Almost always overpriced, they are not interested in helping you find the best value for shipping or they just don't know what they are doing half the time. It is convenient for location, friendly service, easy parking, and usually never a line, but I just spent $30 more than I needed to to ship an item because they either don't know about flat rate shipping or make more money if they use another service. It pains me to give 1 star, but I don't want anyone to make the same mistake I made. Everyone that works at the Postal Shoppe is exceptionally nice and helpful. However, their prices are much more expensive than the post office (about $10 more per item). I have never shipped large items through them, only small boxes and padded envelopes. Prices are not close enough to the post office to make it worth it(if you mail alot of items because you sell on eBay or something), go to the post office,i believe this is mentioned in another review as well. I have had a box at The Postal Shoppe practically from the day they opened. I'm rarely home and it's so reassuring to know my deliveries will be safe until I can pick them up, and they'll even sign for packages if necessary. Did I mention they text and e-mail you when you have a delivery so you don't have to waste time stopping by to check? If you don't have a box, they will still accept one for you if you stop by and tell them and only pay $3.00! Larry the owner will try to accommodate your needs however he can. They can ship anything!
