I waited almost a year to make sure I had the full experience to give a complete review. From being built to closing to opening the following season. After calling several pool companies, The Pool Store was the only company to actually show up. Toni, (the owner) came out herself, right on time. She wrote our quote on the spot and gave us her personal number just incase any questions should arise. Honestly, we thought she was too good to be true! She didn't try to up-sell us, in fact, she talked us out of a few things that were quite costly. When she left our home we thought for sure there must be a catch. As the process went on, she proved every step of the way that she is an honorable business woman and there was no need to second guess anything we heard out of her mouth. Pat came out and measured our space and mapped out a plan for our pool. Toni helped us with some finishing touches that we couldn't decide on. Toni's husband even came in to discuss an extra project(solar heat) that we were considering and helped us pull it together. It really is a great team that guides you every step of the process. The process was quite simple and Cheryl laid it all out for us in the beginning. When payments were due, what they were for, what the next step should be in the process. The entire process went on without much of a hitch and the pool turned out beautiful. Everyone we met is very friendly and helpful. From the guys that come for the physical labor, the people in the Sewell store, to the people in the office in Williamstown. Toni, Cheryl, Pat, John and Jim are just a few names I can remember off hand but honestly, I haven't met anyone that wasn't professional. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there are a few small things that aren't 100% to my liking but to be fair, I never reported them to the store to give them an opportunity to correct. Maybe they would have. The diving board and ladder were installed slightly crooked and the concrete isn't top quality, several chips came out from day 1. These things were minor in my opinion and haven't kept me from enjoying my pool one bit. Also there were a couple of miscommunications through out the process but again nothing that was a big deal and ultimately it all worked out. I only mention it so people understand that even though they get super busy and may miss a call or appointment they aren't leaving you stranded. They are so busy but always come through. I would 100% recommend The Pool Store, in fact I already have. I plan to stay a loyal customer and given the opportunity would have another pool put in should I ever move. read more

This pool store in Hurfville crosskeys Road are very ineffecient when it comes to closing the pool. You better watch out because they are good talker before you pay your pool closing but after paying they lie to you .They wont show up as agreed to the date. They dont call you if they cant make it They make promises heaven and earth They lie to you I have a veryyyyyyyy terrible experience with them . Dont ever ever deal with this store ever especially if you have a heart problem hahahhaha They are very unprofessional and its just easy for them to lie Good luck read more

Bought a new salt cell from them for $1400. Yikes!!! Installed it and about 2 months later readings on my salt display looked weird. So brought in pictures of my unit and was told I needed a "service call". Advance charge put in my credit card for $293 for the service call. Guys came out and found the new cell was bad. They would not refund me the $293 for a bad 2 month old salt cell because "Hayward requires the service call because the cell was owner installed". I was never told that if I self installed this would happen. The service call took about 15 minutes for them to determine that the new salt cell was bad. You tell me if this is fair? read more

Had the Pool store do a closing and opening for first and LAST time they failed to properly drain my pool heater causing heat exchanger to crack, when called and spoke to owner was told it was drained properly, we had a "harsh" winter! Pvc does not crack unless water left in line and freezes. Sent emails made several calls which all were ignored! Spent $2700 to have repaired so we could use the pool. Also, steps installed crooked which I had to fix myself. Stay far away !! read more

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the repeated issues I've experienced regarding the closing of my pool this season. On three separate occasions, I was given excuses as to why the work could not be completed as scheduled. Each time, I was assured it would be taken care of, yet the service was delayed again. Not only has this been frustrating and inconvenient, but it has also created unnecessary stress as the season has already changed, and I relied on your team's professionalism to ensure my pool was properly closed on time. I scheduled well in advance and expected that commitment to be honored. At this point, I feel that I have not received the level of service I was promised or paid for. I would like a clear explanation as to why these repeated incidents occurred, along with confirmation of when my pool will actually be closed. Additionally, I believe compensation or a discount on this service is warranted given the repeated failures and inconvenience. Lucas M read more

I can't say enough good things about The Pool Store on Egg Harbor Road. The entire team is always incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and patient -- no matter how busy they are or how many questions I bring in. They've helped me troubleshoot everything from water chemistry to equipment issues, and I always leave feeling confident in what I need to do. A special shout-out to Alexis -- she's fantastic! Every time I stop in, she goes above and beyond to make sure I'm taken care of. She's friendly, professional, and really knows her stuff. You can tell she genuinely cares about her customers. People like her are why I keep coming back. Highly recommend this place for all your pool needs! read more

I bought a new complete Hayward pool pump motor July 26 2024. On June 23 2025 motor on pump seizes up and Pool store will not honor the 1 year warranty that's offered by manufacturer for self installers. I was told they'll "get back to me" later in the day which never happened. I decided to cut all ties with this place after 20 years and took it to a pool motor repair shop in Mantua who were terrific. Customer relations at the Pool Store is just awful. read more

Terrible cistomer servive!! The tech came out to open my pool. Took the cover off and put my steps in. However, he told me my salt system was broken and showed me how it was gushing water. He said the part warehouse was closed that day and he would call me Monday. I was not able to turn the filter on nor did he finish opening the pool. He stated they would finish opening the pool when they came back to fix the problem. I waited a week and called the parts/service line and left a message asking the status of the parts. I never got a call back. I called again midweek and still no answer. I called back the next Sat (2weeks later) for the pool opening department. Spoke to a lady on the phone about how upset I am that I havent been able to run my pool for 2 weeks nor did anyone ever get back to me. She told me nothing was ever ordered because they didnt know what salt system I had. Yet no one ever called to ask or tell me they werent able to finish fixing my pool. I told her I took it upon myself to disassemble the salt cell and it turns out nothing was broken the tech just didnt have a gasket properly installed. I fixed it and finished opening the pool. I told the lady that I shouldn't have to pay for the opening when they didnt even finish. She told me to come in with pictures of my pool (it was a swamp by this point) and water to test and they would give me the chemicals. When I came in the lady was trying to charge me for the chemicals until I argued with her. I'm pretty sure she only gave them to me because people were in the store listening. None of this is acceptable customer service. I should not have to beg for a company to make things right when they were the ones that messed up. read more

We are extremely disappointed with The Pool Store opening service. As a long term cusotmer we have consistently experienced issues with sloppy, careless unprofessional and irresponsible work. After this last opening, it will be our last. We will travel the extra distance and pay more money to work with Del Val who has been super friendly, helpful and generally nice to the customers, where The Pool Store acts like theyre doing you a favor by taking your money. They have zero care about thier customers and are adversarial at best when questioned. They forget that when they are hired they are "guest" on the property and we "trust" them with our very expensive assets, once we can't believe and trust them, they are worthless. read more

This year, I again called The Pool Store (Washington Township) to open my pool. I advised that the cover needed to be removed, the stairs dropped, and chemicals added. I specifically requested 2 5-gallon containers of 'pool chlorine' be delivered as I wanted the water fully 'shocked'; only one container was available. This had not been the greatest year. I needed a number of home repairs and maintenance within a 2 week period plus take care of my 99 year-old Mother. I finally took a good look at the pool and noticed the stairs and filter were not hooked up properly. I had taken pictures of the 'cocked' stairs and brought them to The Pool Store along with pool water to be tested. When I showed the pictures of the crooked step installation the woman, whom I assume was a supervisor, told me I was already in the store weeks ago complaining about the stairs. I advised her that this was my first in-store visit this year. She argued with me and continually maintained I was a liar until she brought up my records and saw my pool was not opened until after Memorial Day. The photo The Pool Store showed me had one of their employees leaning over the step rail obscuring and camouflaging the poor, uneven installation. She then started saying she remembered me from the previous year when I also had numerous problems due to a deficient pool opening. Further, she stated I should have been charged an additional $190 last year to simply connect hoses to a second pump (no pump operation or start up...just hoses attached and tightened). She then literally called me a thief. Apparently I was not charged for the stair 'drop-in' this year. Again, in front of other customers, she called me a thief. To reiterate, I have had my stairs dropped in recent years as reflected in the records which she finally bothered to look up. Shame on you lady, I am not a lair nor a thief. Obviously The Pool Store employee did not write down the specifics and failed to give me the proper quote; that is not my fault. She again called me a thief. I proceeded to throw my credit card at her and told her 'then charge me'. Still insisting I was a liar and a thief she told me to find someone or another pool dealer to resolve the problems; a decision I had already made based on her false accusations in front of other customers and her extremely nasty attitude. I can only surmise that I was not the only customer with pool opening issues as she confused me with someone that came in a number of weeks ago with a similar complaint. At 69 years-old I must rely on 'professionals' to do a proper job. I can only say that if you are a pool owner you may think twice as to the company you select to open and close your pool. Needless to say, I've given The Pool Store many opportunities to do a good job since they closed their site in the Gloucester Town Center but they seem to blame the customer (in an extremely nasty and vocal manner) for their shortcomings. read more

If I could give them no stars I would. The pictures speak for themselves. They closed my pool last year and failed to blow the water out of the very expensive brand new heater. The owner was made aware and decided to just ignore our calls. I went there yesterday where I met with the most unprofessional, nasty person ive ever dealtt with. Im assuming she was the owner. Shentold me my busted heater was my fault, not her people's and is refusing to take responsibility. It got ugly, and im not proud, but I'll be damned if I'm eating $6400. There's only one way that happens, and that's water was left in the line. She'll be hearing from our attorney. I have used this company for my pool openings since 2018 (I don't have confirmation emails before 2018 but think I have been using since 2013). Because of my Cancer diagnosis, I did not open my pool in 2024. So I prepaid for a pool opening week of 5/5/25, three weeks in advance, and even let them know I didn't open it the year before. Full disclosure, I did not say why I did not open it, just that I did not open it. First, I get an email stating I should probably pay an additional $75.00 for chemicals. I agree. Then I get an email claiming my card didn't work. I do not think that is true. But, I might have "fat fingered". Okay. Gave a new card. Regardless, the only thing prepay does is give a discount and, keep in mind, I've used this company every year since, at least, 2018, except 2024 when I was undergoing treatment. Either way, they know I am good for it. Also, if card didn't work or a person chooses not to prepay, instructions are to leave a check on the pool for full amount. After not hearing, I call on 5/7/2025. No response. So, I reply to email about extra chemicals and find out they "never received" my reply emails. Okay. Again, using this company a long time, I give them benefit of the doubt. I give a new card number. They charge the card $275.00. Yet I never hear a word about when they will arrive or even that they charged my card. So, I decide to be proactive and call. Find out, yes card went through. Then schedule opening for 5/13/25. Get a message on 5/12/2025, someone will be out between 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. I had to be in court for work, but, I get a ready hold for my court appearance to be there at 1:30 pm. Then, from 8:00 am - 12:30 pm, I wait. I wait. I wait. Nobody shows. Nobody calls. Finally, at 12:30 pm, I have to leave because I value other people's time and do not want to be late. At 2:22, while I am in court, I see the employee standing at my door on my Ring. I text my daughter to see if she is still home to help them. She says "oh they are in backyard." Switch to backyard Ring camera. See them on my Ring. They, take a photo of my skimmer, hit the skimmer and make it flap, then leave. Next thing I know, my phone is ringing. I assume it is a cell phone and text it back that I am I in court but they can talk to my 26 year old daughter who is home. No response. I see the truck leave from my front door Ring camera at 2:35 pm. At 4:50 pm, I call and I send a message to owner, who knows how to take my prepay but doesn't know how to make sure work is done or return phone calls, Jim Williamson, to ask what happened. No answer. No response to email. I ordered deluxe opening. Before arrival, I hooked up filter, put water in pool, removed cover; basically, did 3/4 of the things I paid The Pool Store $275.00 to do. What I got: They, showed up late, took a photo and left. All that needed to be done was to add chemicals and turn on my filter. They could not do it. I have no idea why, since nobody has responded to me. They could not take away the cover, I removed, and throw it out (part of the package is they remove it and throw it out- so I did 75% of the job I paid them to do). Again, all they did, was show up late, take photos and leave. My Ring camera shows it all. As stated, when I was done court, I called and sent an email. Despite that store should be open until 7:00P, nobody answered or even bothered to respond to my call or email. If you have $275.00 to dump in the garbage and get nothing in return, I recommend this store. If not, stay away. After, at least, 7 years of business to this store, you get treated like an insignificant idiot, whose time is not as important as their time. They, cannot call when running late, cannot do the work they are prepaid to do, and cannot return calls when they fail to their job. Once they get paid, they don't care. My credit card company reversed the charge. So I am sure I will get a call back, now. Regardless, stay away. It's not worth the headache. read more

The Pool Store has been amazing! They installed my pool years ago and just recently installed a new liner. I have tried in between to work with other pool stores just because they were down the street from me. We can never get anyone else to call back or we receive bad advise on how to treat our pool. Anytime we deal with The Pool Store we not only receive a call or email same day but we get our questions answered or problems solved. Years ago and still to this day I appreciate how involved Toni (owner) is with any projects we get quoted. All workers that are sent out to our house knowledgeable and respectful. read more

Saga continuing from previous review... I paid $4k for a pool cover last year. They made it and put it on, but it was a very poor fit. By that I mean they didn't account for the diving board; had extra straps; and straps that couldn't be buckled due to being too long. Seven straps needed to be addressed. I took pictures and video. To fix it, they had me pay to have them remove it this summer so that could fix it and bring it back at the end of the summer - where I was expected to pay again to have it brought back and put in - which I did. They showed up without the cover because they had not even started fixing it! They put a cheap piece of plastic over I'm the pool with cheap water-filled weight, many of which promptly leaked all the water out and fell into the pool. Now here it is, Half-way through November and they still haven't brought the cover and won't even return my phone calls to tell me when it will be ready. The folks that answer the phones have no answers and the lady that deals with pool covers is never in the office and never returns phone calls. Seriously AVOID THIS BUSINESS. read more

We purchased a home 3 years ago which had a pool that has been installed by The Pool Store so we just kept using them for openings/closings. Almost every single time they either no show or call to cancel the day off or push it off weeks. We were supposed to have it closed mid sept this year, they pushed it to yesterday, and then today and now they have no showed twice. Going to look for someone else at this point. Only reason they get 2 stars is when they actually show up they are quick and efficient. read more

Horrible business. Brand new pool installed. Took them 4 months to come out and fix it. I was filling my pool every other day. Then a second leak at the base of my slide happened. That was early august. It is now end of September they still have not fixed my leak and my pool is still open and my filter is not working now. They have stopped answering my phone calls and emails. I email everyday. The owner Toni is horrible. She has never once picked up the phone to reached out. Do not use this company. read more

I would NOT recommend this business to anyone. They installed a liner without locking it in place. They stated they don't put the bead lock in place until the liner stretches out and that usually it's unnecessary. Liner popped out of the track in multiple locations right after being installed. After multiple calls, they finally got us scheduled to fix. They "no called no show" several times. When they finally showed up unannounced, they only fixed small sections about 4-8 inches. After several more sections of the liner popped out, they did the same song and dance again. When the service tech eventually made it out again, he was rude and stated that they would not be returning unless we paid extra. Went to the store and spoke to a manager who promised it would get fixed but they just never showed and didn't return our calls. Their website states 2 year warranty on liners but that is false. Opened the pool this year to over 11 sections of liner hanging. Eventually I emailed the owner who stated that someone would contact us directly. That was 3 months ago. They will use every excuse to string you along. I completely regret using this company. read more

Purchased inline chlorinator, unable to get lid off. Hadn't even had item 3 months. Went to store, staff not helpful, would not replace even though warranted. Returned to store 3 times. awaiting months to hear from owner " Toni". Not sure why the store does not stand behind their products they sell. This does not seem like a good long term business plan. Possible the staff is not telling the owner about complaints. Maybe Toni will call and make good on this item. The Pool Store Egg Harbor Road Sewell NJ 08080 read more

Basing this review entirely on a phone call to these guys. Asked a very simple question: do you have a pool heat pump in stock and if not, how long will it take to come in? Literally took 4 different holds to be told 'we don't have one, but we can get one' - was told I'd need to leave a deposit before they can even find out how long it will take. I get that heat pumps are tough to find right now, but is this a joke? You won't make a freakin' phone call Ridiculous, pathetic, horrible, awful customer service, guy on the phone literally couldn't answer a single question without asking three other people, and an unwillingness to provide info so I knew whether or not to bother. CLEARLY the answer is 'don't bother'. read more

This is my first time using a pool company to open my pool and what an awful experience it has been. I set my appointment date and stayed home from work that day only to have no one show up. When I called they said it was a computer error and they would come back out the week after. Again, the new appointment day comes, I take off of work, and again no one shows up. After I called they said it was a computer issue. Two times within a week having the same issue. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because my neighbor recommended them, they also already charged me for the service before the first mistake so I figured I would just let it be. Finally, on the THIRD rescheduled day they gave me a window of 12-4 for their arrival. They showed up close to 5PM. Luckily I was off this day already. After calling, their defense for me being upset with having taken off work twice is that I did not have to be home. This was the manager telling me this, and offering no solution to the wasted two days of work in my end. Given this was my first pool opening service, I would have never known that because no one informed me. Please do not use these people. I will attempt to add my photos to this post but if I am not able to, take my word for it...they left a huge mess during my opening last year and it took 6 months for them to even respond to my complaint. No resolution. It cost me time and a lot of money to UN-DO what their 'professionals' had done. They called it a "deluxe opening" and there was nothing deluxe about it. I have a very large pool and there was some debris left in the middle of the pool cover. Instead of attempting to remove the cover carefully and without dumping the debris into the pool, they quickly removed it, dumped the debris into the pool, didn't put in one of the ladders and left their trash for me to clean up afterwards. I took photos and went to the store to complain. No one ever called or emailed me. Then when I continued to pester them for some kind of response, they finally called and offered me a 10% discount on one of the items in their store. I cannot believe that they do business like this and don't have the decency to address their problems. Do yourselves a favor and steer clear of this company. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY SERVICE AT ALL. I'd rather be attacked by 10,000 horseflys while swimming in my headache of a pool everyday for the rest of my life then to have to call this joke of a company back to fix another thing. They never show up when they are suppose to, and never call to let you know. And if you don't call them to complain they never showed up then they deffinatly will now show up. Day 1 the first meeting at my problem to discuss my pool was a no call no show on a 3 hour window which resulted in me calling to find out THERE NOT COMING. This should have been my first red flag. But since I never learn, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. MISTAKE! The pool was suppose to be complete end of season by September so I had time to fix my lawn and plant grass seed. . They weren't done untill spring of the following season. All winter my back yard was a nightmare They built the whole pool and forgot the install a step down to the sun ledge which left us with a 16 inch drop to the sun ledge! I have had this pool for 3 years and have had to make multiple service calls for liner falling out of bead. Needless to say most of my low end has been shimmed within 1 year of having it. The sun ledge started failing during year 1. They didn't want to fix it until they reported the pool the following year. After I forced them to because they kept reassuring my that the sink hole in my landing was fine, there wouldn't be any issues. The pool filter its self has been sucking in air since install. I've mentioned it on multiple occasions and I kept getting told "it's normal"! I've had a pool my whole life it's not normal. I'm dealing with a faulty salt system now which i had to wait over a week for for someone to come out! Just for them to not show or call. Of course! So I call and they said. We think it's an easy fix, well walk you through it. After they told me, the system never Fails. We've never seen that happen. If no star was a thing I would had done that instead! I reach out a few time asking for the owner Toni to reach out. I even email her & she never bother returning a call or email. I had a problem with getting reliable service done. I was called in Mid May that my pool liner came in & the earliest install date was June 7th. I agreed to the date & was told the day before (June 6th) they would come to drain the water out my pool into our street. June 6th came & two men came to drain the water out with a pump plugged in to our outside outlet. June 7th morning I seen the pool was empty so we unplugged the pump in the fear that the pump would overheat & burn out. No one showed up to install our liner. I called three times before noon & got no answer, I called again at 1pm & was then inform that I was scheduled in for June 8th & they would come out then. When I asked an ETA of when they would come I was told we was the first job of the day but that they would call me to give me a time. Never got that call. June 8th came & it was after 1pm & still no one has showed up at this time I called again & was then told that I was scheduled for June 9th at this point this has all just become a bad joke. I was leaving out of town on that Friday June 10th & couldn't be around to shut off my water if the liner was to be installed. The lady at the store told me that someone was able to come shut my water while I was on vacation but I have little faith for the fact of the reschedule twice without being notified & leaving their own pump running. The rescheduling more then once without even notifying the customer is not professional at all from a pool company I thought was reliable from a repair I hire the store to do for me last year & the reason why I decided to go with "The Pool Store" quote instead of the other pool store I contact for a quote. This experience has been a very bad one & has left me with a bad taste of the unprofessional business practice I'd currently experienced at the moment. They try to up sale me more work at this point I wanted them out of my yard & out of my hair. I declined everything. The liner was installed but of course it's coming off one corner in the deep end. They left me the trash on the curbside instead of taking with them or at least putting in the garage bin. Never again! You have been warned! Worst of the worst beware! read more

We recently had an in-ground pool installed and are very disappointed in their customer service. The guys that did the actual digging and building of the pool were great....never in a million years did I think things could go so wrong with our experience. we had a few issues and questions...nothing even that major....yet they refuse to help us resolve the issues or answer any of our questions. They have completely stopped responding to us. It has been 4 months now that we've been dealing with this. The owner won't even help us! It's such a terrible way to run a business and I do not recommend them. read more

I am guessing by the couple of good reviews that they are friends or family of this Company. I have been calling their main number this whole week and get no answer, leave a message and get no call back whatsoever! Now, I know we are all busy, but really? This morning my husband went into the main office to ask to have our pool cleaner repaired. He was greeted by the most ignorant woman ever! She refused to fix the pool cleaner or even listen to anything he was trying to tell her! These people do not care about anyone! Stay away! Now I know why they have such terrible reviews. read more

Just had my liner replaced. Looks like they did a good job installing it. My biggest knock with them is poor communication. Told me they would call to schedule the service. Not only did I not receive any of those calls. I had to call them repeatly. When it was scheduled and they weren't going to make it, no calls for that either. In fact, I am still waiting on a return call. Had hoped for a long term service with them but not going to happen afterall. read more
