Budds is the best! Their staff is knowledgeable and can get to the bottom of any questions you may have. If they can't help you they'll definitely get you in touch with someone who can. There's a reason they've been around for years! They care about their customers and will do their best to accommodate to any of their needs. I go for semi-weekly water testing and the water lab knows just what your pool needs to get your pool chemistry perfect! The people in the parts department can assist you with any part you may need or any problem you're having. The employees are all dedicated and caring people. My early morning birthday present from Budd Pools & Spas. Our pool was opened on Thursday 5/7 for the 10th year, by the same company that built it. I thought that was the safest, best option to keep our pool in the best shape. In fact for 10 years, I pay Budds to open, service weekly for 12 weeks, and close my pool. Friday morning I turned the heater on in case the kids wanted to go in. I thankfully hung outside for a bit, when I began to smell something burning and walked over to find the heater on fire. I immediately turned off the power on the heater and emailed and called Budds. They FaceTimed with Edward Litsky, and noted that the water valve to the heater was in the off position. They then sent someone out Friday evening around 8pm, turned the water on, vacuumed out the soot, inspected it using a phone flashlight, turned on the heater and informed us someone would be in touch. Three days later, after I requested to hear from someone in a supervisor role, Chas the GM of service called me this evening. He offered to replace the burned out lcd screen free of charge. I told him I expected more, as I no longer feel safe having my kids around the heater, and he told me it was more than fair since "I" turned off the water to the heater. He blamed ME! A customer of 10 years. He blamed me, because I emailed requesting assistance turning on the skimmers prior to the fire. After their own employees admitted it was opened incorrectly. The General Manager of Service blamed me in a massive CYA case. I have never been a part of a worst case of shady business in my life. Avoid Budds Pools. read more

I expected much more from Budd's Pools, but the experience has been frustrating. We've had multiple issues since installation -- concrete settling all around the pool, cracking and separation of the deco seal, an outlet that constantly trips from the shallow-end light, and even water getting behind the liner on the steps. For a company with their reputation, the lack of attention to detail and response has been really disappointing. I would not recommend them based on my experience. read more

This review will hopefully prevent others from having to go through what we, and it appears other, long term customers have recently experienced with this company. We have been a customer with Budd's Pools for over 10 years, but will NOT be returning. This used to be a great company but over the last 2 years the prices have increased dramatically while the professionalism and work quality have significantly decreased. Last year, the pool technician was completely unprofessional and did not complete all the opening steps although the prices significantly increased. We called and complained and my husband finished the pool opening. Although dissatisfied, we returned to Budd's again this year. This year, the pool technician busted up the concrete by the ladder cups. Although I was home, the technician did not notify me this happened and on my opening notes the technician noted the ladder cups were old and needed to be replaced. Both my husband and I called to complain about the lack of accountability and transparency and wanted reimbursement for the damaged concrete. The service writer and her supervisor Cheryl offered zero apology and questioned whether this actually occurred stating the ladder cups were old. At the end of the conversation, I requested that Budd's not perform our closing. Cheryl stated we would be glad to refund your money and immediately hung up on me. We do not dispute the ladder cups were old and need replacing, but damaging someone's property, offering no apology and displaying zero accountability is not acceptable. Price Increase: 2020 Opening: $318 2020 Closing: $318 2023 Opening: $430 2023 Closing: $430 2024: We were contacted and told if we did not prepay for both the opening and closing there would be an additional increase in pricing. Additionally, we were told if we paid by anything other than cash or check there would be a 3% increase in pricing. I chose "meh" to be 100% fair. While my mother's pool was clear, all was well with Budd's. When a storm hit in 2018, July, and her pool went green, everything went downhill. Budd's COULD NOT figure out how to solve her problem. For 13 mos they told her to run her filter 24/7, to change her filter sand, to "start over", and that they couldn't come out w/o charging the $150+ fee. All in all, they cost her over $1000 with no change to her pool. When she said she was going to just get rid of the pool, I asked my mom's permission to try a last ditch effort. I went to another establishment and he had her pool sparkling in 3 weeks with very little cost to her. We are both so thrilled that finally, next year, she will be able to swim again. read more

Very frustrated!!! We built our pool with Budds 2015...the Contruction at that time went well and we were satisfied. They sold us on a VIP maintenance package were they perform cleanings etc etc. on a weekly basis. I don't have the time or energy to write the "numerous" amount of stories that were "Fails" in my opinion...but...I will warn you...they are impossible to get on the phone a speak with a live person and they do not call back if you have any issues(and you will). Hopefully you do not experience problems...you will be left on your own. Very frustrating.... I have to be extremly upset to leave a review as its not in my nature... but enough is enough...even the managers will not call back. Budds pools better start reading their reviews. I wish I researched more before we had them open our pool. We are first time pool owners. We paid $450 to have our pool open. We found out competitors are charging $250. What did we pay $450 for ? A very poorly done cleaning of the pool cement. Jets that were put on incorrectly. We called Paul as he told us to do. Never called us back. Finally I sent him another text two days later he calls my husband and says he will be there the next morning at 9. Never shows up or calls. We called Budds twice and they told us, oh we thought Paul took care of it. Worse customer service. Over priced. And you would be a fool to use them. We had a budds pool installed in 2018. They had installed a couple of our friends pools a few years before and they were very happy. Fir a liner pool they seemed to be about 20-30% higher than most of the competition. I found out why. Excellent quality and install process. Being in construction myself I truly respected their quality. As the past couple years went by our pool still runs like the day we got it. These guys never hesitate to provide help over the phone, in-store, and on-site. When I had issues with dead algae re-entering the pool via our sand filter, I was so frustrated, as I thought it was silt. I called the guys up the street who had replaced our entire filter system last season and they came out, charged us $300, left no detail or invoice and never followed-up to see what results their work had produced. After multiple calls, and finally sending someone out to physically look at the dead algae on the bottom of the pool, the service person pointed to the bottom and told my wife, "That's dead algae". This was after I had provided her with an entire printed-out PDF of pictures of everything 2 weeks prior to bring to the store to ensure they could at least provide a hypothesis - instead they sent her home with $100 worth of unnecessary phosphate control chemicals. Spoke to salesperson about getting my gunnite pool repaired. He was very pleasant, took all my information down and committed to surveying my pool the following week. That was 4 weeks ago and despite one follow-up call -- no response. If this is the way Budd's conducts business on the front in, J want nothing to do with their execution. Negative experience with Budd's Pools. We had a pool motor installed in September 2020, by Budd's, just before closing the pool for the season. The motor would not turn on when we opened the pool this week. Called Budd's for service on Saturday 4/3 and the representative verified that the motor was under warranty. On Thursday 4/8 a technician arrived and diagnosed it as a "seized"motor. He got it running within a few minutes and presented my wife with an invoice for $159.00, which she challenged due the age of the motor and the warranty. On 4/9 we received an email from Budd's Pools with a PAID invoice charged against the credit card we had used to pay for the motor last Fall. No one contacted us to discuss that we were going to be billed for what we thought was covered under the warranty, nor were payment options discussed. A phone call to Budd's revealed we were charged for the service call because they didn't open our pool. On top of it all, the Service manager was very rude when I spoke with him. Would never use Budd's Pools services again, nor would I recommend them. read more

Giving them 1 star is too generous. My husband wrote a review about his dissatisfaction with Budds earlier this summer. I personally did not want to get involved. I wanted to remain a customer because I genuinely like a few of the staff and felt that the few has always extended exceptional service (mainly the people in the water lab, the pool openers/closers, and in sales). My husband called to schedule a date to have the pool closed a few weeks ago. He was told that there was an alert on our account because of the review he previously wrote. He was told to take down his less than favorable review or they would not close or service our pool. I felt we were being strong-armed and that is totally unacceptable business practice for me! A review is suppose to let other customers and potential customers know about your experience with a company, regardless if that experience is positive or negative. In response to negative reviews a company that "cares" and makes their customers experiences a priority would address negative reviews by trying to "make right" by that customer. And sometimes "making right" is simply by showing that customer that their complaint has been heard and understood in a customer friendly type of way. That's just customer service 101. Most referrals come through word of mouth anyway. I heard of Budds through a friend and I have told many people about my positive experiences with them since they built my pool. I have never felt so disrespected by a company and any future references/advice I give about Budds will most definitely not be positive! I don't typically write reviews. I would say i've generally been happy with Budds, but if you are considering a heat pump i would recommend not doing it or doing it through a reliable company. Budds can't service it and the contractor they use "Aquacomfort" are just not helpful at all. The heater is not intuitive, doesn't work well with their system and broke after 4 years. After a heated "discussion" with their representative, they wanted me to call Budds back. Bottom line is if your AC breaks in your Chevy, you assume that Chevy will fix it. Not the case here. Budd's Pool's re plastered my pool in June of 2013. The process from estimate to plastering went very well. They were professional, knowledgeable and on time. They end result was having a pool that looked very close to brand new. When I opened the pool in 2014 their were problems with the plaster job: calcification ,discoloration and roughness to the plaster finish. When I called for warranty work, they came out in a reasonable amount of time (the owner also came out as their were some warranty specifics re what was covered). In the end they made good and got my pool looking great again at no charge. I would recommend this company! read more

We recently did a pool renovation with Budd's. They re-tiled and installed new plaster on our in-ground pool. Their pricing was comparable to the other 2 companies we got quotes with but a neighbor used them for tile and said they were ok so we used them. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews. Half the work was done in the Fall and the other was to be done in the Spring. We had to remove the solar heater on our roof over the Winter so when we reconnected with Chas, the sales person, in the Spring I told him we were now also interested in a heater. He said he would get us a quote. The work they did was ok, although their crew all smoked cigarettes in my backyard and we were missing a hose nozzle after they left (which I left them a message about and never heard back). After they were done they gave us a one sheet of how to take care of the new plaster. Most of the instructions weren't even possible because the pool wasn't full yet. I reached out to Chas and he said it was fine. We then had to reach out to them about the actual opening of the pool and getting the equipment running, as they said they would do. It seemed very important this happen because we had to brush the pool 2x a day and the filter had to be running. We finally got someone out and after he was done he told us that we needed two new parts and the info would be in our file. After he left we noticed a leak so we reached out to the office and when we didn't hear back, we reached out to Chas. He talked my husband through fixing it on Facetime, but after they got off the phone it just started leaking again. We eventually fixed it ourselves. I called the office and left a message about the parts we needed and to follow up with Chas about the heater. Never heard back. After 2 more weeks I reached out to Chas and asked him if there was any info on the parts we needed and the quote on the heater. He asked me about how the water tests had been since he "gets nervous" when he doesn't see test results. I wasn't aware that we were supposed to be sending them water test results and I told him I was disappointed that after spending over $13k with them and having a leak there was no follow up from them, no return calls and we still don't have a quote for the heater. More concerning is that the work could have been ruined if the brushing wasn't being done and the water wasn't being maintained. He told me a lot of customers are self sufficient. He told me the quote would take 30 seconds for the heater and he would send it to me after he got where he was doing (he was driving). That was a week ago. I appreciate things are difficult now so we were being understanding about response time but after our last conversation and reading these Yelp reviews I think this is pretty much how they usually operate. A simple quick follow up text would have been nice, especially since we were offering them new business and just spent a lot of money with them. read more

Had them open my pool this year.....disaster. I was disappointed a few years back but decided to give them another try. Main tech was rude but his partner was nice and a hard worker. We had just had a heavy rainstorm the night before opening so there was water and some debris on the cover. In the past they had been good about getting most of it off before removing it. Not this time. Didn't take any care in trying to remove the cover without dumping debris into pool. I called another company who came and spent 2 days cleaning it up. They did an amazing job. They have a new customer for life and I am done with Budd's for good. read more

BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE !! I called Budd's for my pool closing in Oct 2014. They came out..."closed" the pool at the cost of $220.00, broke my chlorinator without telling me, and left. I called them about the damage, and someone else was out the next day. Gusess they didn't plan on me finding it until spring. Two weeks (First week of Nov 2014) later my cover, that they so expertly put on, was in my pool. When I called Allison for a followup to reattach my cover, she advised me of the $95.00 service fee. ARE YOU SERIOUS ????? This is the way to nickle and dime customers for something they already paid for? All of my neighbor's pools still have their covers yet mine is in my pool covered with leaves. SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ELSEWHERE !!! I encourage anyone with questions to please contact me and I will send you photographs or discuss this with you. I Stopped in 4 different pool stores to find out what kind of liner my above ground pool needed. No one knew anything about it until i stopped in to budds pools and talked to paul. He immediately recognized the pool and made a phone call and had a model number for me within minutes. He was very knowledgeable and it was nice to be confident about getting the correct liner. I have an in-ground gunite pool with an attached in-ground spa. For the past several years I have had Budd's open and close the pool and spa. For anyone who has this done you know that it is usually a $400 to $500 pop each time. A few weeks after they left this year we tried to heat the spa. Come to find out the gas valve for the heater was never turned on. I called Budd's and they said that this service is included with the opening and that they did what they were suppose to do. However, it would be $150 to come back out. Imagine that...$150 to turn on the electronic ignited pilot light. A friend turned on the gas valve in the heater and it worked. Needless to say I will no longer be a Budd's customer. A little too arrogant for me. read more

We called Budd's Pools a month ago for an estimate to replace a pool light. The service person was friendly and prompt. He said he would mail an estimate to our home. We are STILL waiting to receive our estimate. We've called at least three times, and each time the receptionist / scheduler wants to know the "estimate number". We keep explaining we are still waiting for the estimate so we definitely have no "estimate number". Last week when we called, we were told the service person was "on vacation for two weeks". It's been like pulling teeth trying to get an estimate - I can't imagine how frustrating it will be trying to actually have the work done. We have used Budd's Pools in the past and were very satisfied with their work. Needless to say, we have given up and have just called another company to provide an estimate. I don't think that I'm going to let them off the property until I have it in my hand. ;) read more
