We have had the pool guys out to clean/repair our pond for the past 4 years. This last visit they were able to fix a problem that was costing us a lot of money on our water bill. The only that would have made this visit a 10/10 would have been a recommendation of what products to use in between visits so our pond stayed cleaner longer. read more

From initial walk in conversation regarding buying new Marquis tub to delivery and follow up installation of cover lift, everything they said would happen did and all prices quoted were fulfilled. This place doesn't have the fancy sales you get from larger shops and sometimes things seemed to move along a little slowly but they saved us from 2 to 4k over other shops offering same tub. And they dealt honestly with us snd saved us lot of money so I can't ask for anything more. Getting the tub to our backyard was tricky but they had the tub well wrapped and sent lots of guys to do the job. They also gave us an incredible discount for paying cash instead of credit. Just a great little store. They do water testing as well as give instructions on how to make your pool or spa "just right". They can sell you the chemicals needed for your particular needs, service is available as long as you don't have an Olympic hot tub (those guys are really proprietary!). My hot tub's manufacturer is out of business and it is difficult to find a repair service for my area, so I was happy to find Pool Guy Plus. It took a number of trips, but after February's power outages fried my hot tub, Pool Guy Plus was able to fix the tub. Basically I have a new hot tub, except for the part with the water in it. I particularly thank Jim, the repair guy, and Pete, whom I spoke to regularly. Despite the number of trips, the labor charges were very fair. One suggestion for Pool Guy would be to find a way to provide a better window for appointments; I was only given a date, not "morning", "afternoon", etc. Otherwise this was a very good experience and I recommend Pool Guy Plus. read more

I want to rate The Pool Guy Plus zero stars, but Yelp won't let me. Bottom line: if your company is unable/disinterested in doing a job for a cash-paying customer, TELL THE CUSTOMER before stringing them along for 9 months. Contacted The Pool Guy Plus in September to pinpoint the leak in our pool. They provided us with a diagnosis and agreed to put together an estimate and get back to us. We paid $200 for their time. The plan was to do the repairs in the Spring. They never got back to us in the Spring. Husband called in May, and they had no estimate, no record of their visit, and no recollection of the conversation. Promised to come back again and give us an estimate. They didn't. After numerous requests, they came to diagnose the problem they had already diagnosed 8 months earlier. Promised to send us estimate. No estimate until husband called to remind them we were waiting. Husband called at least 10 times, and must have spoken with every single employee. Repairman finally arrived in late June. Assured us he could fix it that very week if the part was in stock, and promised to call that night with an update. No call. Went into the shop the next day to express frustration; Pete gave his personal promise that he would call my husband that night. No call. Never heard from them again. Without a doubt, the very worst customer service we've ever received. We wasted 9 months when we could have hired someone else. No swimming the entire summer. We want to patronize local businesses, but we shouldn't have to beg them to do their job. The swimming pool repair business in Thurston County must be booming; The Pool Guy Plus seem to have no problem ignoring/turning away paying customers. We're out 200 bucks, and have nothing to show for it but wasted time and effort. Brian~ I guess I'm confused, and certainly don't want to give the wrong business a bad review. This place is great. There kind and knowledgeable for all you pool and spa needs. Been going there for a few years now and they have never steered me wrong. Told the manager what was going on with my pool and he immediately knew what to do and directed me to the product I needed. I purchased "Green to clean", it worked great. It got rid of the nastiness, but the water was still cloudy. I had the water tested by them and they told me exactly what I needed to do. Still haven't gotten my repairs done by these guys but I am so unimpressed with them that I need to speak up now. They won't come out unless you pay them for the trip in advance. (I'm beginning to understand why). They tell you up front that this will be just to look at the problem and figure out what's needed. They know from the get go they will be too unprepared to get the job done on that trip. Then they tell you what parts are needed and you have to pay up front for those. They then schedule you for several weeks out in a given day but won't tell you morning or evening. So I took the day off. The morning of, they didn't call so mid morning I call. They claim to have never heard of me and it took a couple of calls to get them on the same page. Still by mid morning they could not tell me when the tech would be out. Before noon I get a call to tell me the parts that came in 1-1/2 weeks earlier were not complete. No one bothered in all that time to check. They had to reschedule. Today I get a call that I'm scheduled three more weeks out. It's already been close to a month. I asked if I could get my money back on the parts so I could go elsewhere and he said no to the part that has already come in and I'd have to get charged a restock fee on the other one. Are you freaking kidding me?! My advice is to run far far away from these guys. I am not sure that they are crooks but you'd have a hard time convincing me that they are competent and the pay up front stuff makes me wonder about the crook status. It's bad folks! Run away. Well from Brian the owners response it sounded like my appointment had been canceled and they wished me well. So I called to see the status and was told by the person I spoke to that he did not write a review (I thought it was him) and that he doesn't even read reviews because he knows they are full of lies. (I made a point of not making it sound worse then it is. Yes these are difficult times and I'm all for showing a little grace to each other.) I just wanted to know if they were still planning to come out. I asked to speak with Brian because he wrote the reply. I was told he is in Arizona and I could not have contact information. Also he had been advised by Brian to not even answer my calls. So public forum seems to be my only option Brian. I'm not trying to be unreasonable but you guys have made a terrible showing and have so far made no effort what so ever to correct your mistakes. At this point I'm fine with you giving me the parts I've already paid for when they come in and I'll deal with it another way. But since I can't talk to anyone with authority about this any other way I guess it will be on Yelp. You have a nice day too. read more

What a hassle. Hot tub stopped producing heat. Called the Pool Guy. They came out and figured out the problem. They did not have the part so set up to order it. Turned out the part had to be made. Frustrating but comes with the territory. After 6 weeks they got the part and came out an installed it. They left but when I filled it back up the display did not work and a connection that had not leaked before started leaking. I was charged another trip charge to have the display connection that the "tech" installed upside down removed and flipped and to diagnose the leak. The new leak required a new valve to have to be custom made. This again took weeks. I filled the tub and now the the pump was leaking when it was running and slowly when not running I discussed this with them. The soonest they could get someone out was November 21st so about a month. It is what it is so I set that up. I told them clearly I would be in Columbia on vacation that day. I was told by the owner that would not be a problem. We discussed me emptying the tub so it did not freeze and crack. He went so far as To tell me where the hose was to empty it. I told him I knew and would empty what was left after the water loss from the leaking pump. Today I get a call in Columbia saying I needed to go home and fill the tub so the tech could find problem. I reminded the owner that I was on vacation and he told me to empty the tub. He laughed at me and said he also told me to fill it on the morning of the 21st. Obviously not the case. Here i am 7 months without a working hot tub and out over $800! I'm about ready to toss this hot tub and get a new one! read more

My husband and I are so pleased with our local Pool Guy Plus Store. The facility itself is neat, clean, colorful and well organized. We find it is usually well stocked and if an item needs to be ordered, Pete takes care of it immediately. He is knowledgeable, helpful, and personable. Acted like they really appreciated the business and went out of there way to help us find which tub would work for us. I'm having water issues in my swim spa. Instead of selling me chemicals, he suggested that I bring in a water sample to check for issues. After running the test, I was given a readout of the issues. Then he sold me the chemicals I needed, with very clear written instructions plus a volume/dry measure converter. I left feeling confident that I can fix my spa's issues. We have a jetted bathtub and one of the jets broke. No one near us services them, but both Melia and Pete were EXTREMELY helpful and went the extra mile to find us the part we needed and get it to us quickly. They both spent a lot of time tracking it down and making sure we got it in a timely fashion - they didn't have to do that because they don't even handle jetted bathtubs. Of course, we are now thinking about buying a hot tub, so maybe their extreme customer service is working, LOL! read more

They don't even deserve one star. They came out to make my hot tub operable. After their inspection and repair, it remained still unoperable. Apparently, they fixed one problem and failed to diagnose or repair another problem, or perhaps, they caused a new problem in the repair process. They would not come out to look into this without charging me again. The store manager, Pete, has an anger management issue. He was out right yelling at me on the phone, for voicing my objection on their work quality and lack of accountability and then hung up on me. read more
