I had a very disappointing experience with The Pool Company STL on a pool cover replacement project.
Their written proposal stated that the roll-up tube would be replaced "if needed," which is how I evaluated and agreed to move forward. Before proceeding, I specifically clarified that I was not interested in replacing the tube unless it was truly necessary, as another provider indicated this is not commonly required.
After that, the company changed their position and stated the tube would need to be replaced, effectively turning a conditional item into a requirement without clear justification.
When I questioned the discrepancy, instead of addressing it professionally, I was told I should consider using another company.
At best, this reflects poor communication and unclear scoping. At worst, it feels like a bait-and-switch approach. I'm glad I caught this before paying the required 75% deposit.
If you're considering working with them, make sure any "if needed" items are clearly defined in writing upfront. read more
