This has to be a tourist trap or some joke. How is it possible we went to Mexico and got some of the worst tacos we've ever had?? Really disappointing. I mistakenly didn't check the reviews and was lured in by the location being on the water. The view is nice, but the food was gross. The tacos are fried in tons of oil and that's all you can taste. They are not dressed up at all either! Inedible. I've had way better tacos in small shops in Mexico and expected a lot more from the Point. Also, there are TONS of flies all over this restaurant and they will constantly swarm your food. Avoid, avoid, avoid. One star because the waiter was friendly and there's no zero star option. read more

I know enough about restaurants to understand that any place known for its stunning views likely falls short in terms of culinary innovation, to put it politely. My expectations weren't high, but I got exactly what I wanted out of The Point--the ability to chill out away from the hustle and bustle while I gawk at nature. It's quite a few steps offshore, and when you dine outside you're hanging completely over water. This is one of the only places in town I was not fiercely solicited while trying to enjoy myself It is MUCH colder here than everywhere else. It's a blessing in the summer but otherwise the wind will be brisk...but patio dining is still worth it. I had some pina coladas and the mini shrimp chimis, they were delightful. Service good too. This place impressed us so much, we came back here twice to eat and a third time to have a drink while we shopped. First off, sitting on the deck with those stunning views, is remarkable! You can't even capture it in a picture! Staff are awesome. Very attentive, friendly and make you feel welcomed! Food, my goodness, I don't know where to start. Their shrimp ceviche, WOW. Very fresh and with a nice kick to it! Their stuffed flounder with white sauce, I had it both times because it was so delicious and it didn't disappoint. My daughter tried their Baja pasta which was very light but full of flavor, and then the triple Mexican plate and both were fully finished. Don't think twice, go check it out! read more

We noticed the Point while dining at another restaurant and decided to stop there on our next journey into town. We wanted to have drinks on the patio which is right on top of the water. The sunshine, breeze and view is spectacular. Our server quickly seated us and brought beverage menus. We ordered some drinks and decided to get a snack. We ordered the steamed clams and swordfish tacos. The clams were amazing - the largest I've ever had. They were fresh, plump and tasty, served with melted butter and a salsa. They also had several hot sauces on the table. The tacos came 3 to the order and were filled with meaty swordfish which tasted delicious. The view in itself is reason to come here! Service and food were pretty average to the other places we went during our vacation. The drinks were poured pretty strong on the rocks, and the Cadillac Margarita is the best bang for your buck if alcohol content is what you're aiming for! We came with a party of 13 and reserved a table earlier in the day when we were walking around the market. They didn't place us where we had indicated while reserving the table, but the views were still good nonetheless! The only other thing is that the food wasn't that hot when it was brought out, but that's just the pains of dining in a large group and I don't necessarily fault the restaurant. read more

We went to get a decent view at sunset, and that's what we got. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the food was mediocre at best and overpriced. Do NOT get the whole fried fish--it was so dried out. The flounder stuffed with scallops was tasty but the sides were bland. The steak fajitas barely had enough steak to make 2 tortillas. Our margaritas were blended and so watered down we questioned if alcohol was even in there. read more

The Point serves up delicious Mexican food with a stunning view. Friends and I came for dinner, so it was dark, so you weren't able to see the view of the water, but I can only imagine what it'd look like during the day. The best part of this place is that the restaurant is on stilts on the pier and you can get a glimpse of the water right underneath you between the cracks of the wooden slats below your seats. Service was friendly and accommodating. Everyone seemed to like what they ordered, and I enjoyed the seafood they had here. Jumbo margaritas for a great price. Definitely stop by here if you're in Puerto Penasco for a fancier dinner! read more

My boyfriend and I went to The Point during a weekend trip to Puerto Penasco and ordered beer, a margarita, the Chef's special fish + shrimp, and steak. These are our thoughts: Pros: -Free Wifi, just ask for it -Amazing view, right by the ocean -Generous serving of Ceviche, fish tasted fresh -The sauce that came with the steak dish was really flavorful, we dipped everything in it! Tried to go here Saturday for my sisters birthday but was told it was demolished due to storm damage.

I am sooooo confused by the service and awful food. This place was so highly talked about but I've never been so disappointed, this is no white glove service nor is it decent. First of all the hostess was so rude to me and my family refused to want to seat us with the window view of the ocean the whole point of the entire restaurant wanted to stick us in the back by the bathrooms. Server had no manners and yelled at us when we asked the table to be cleaned off because it was still dirty. My mom asked for a water with no ice and the server thought the best idea would be is dumping her (water) in another cup on the table and literally duping the whole cup of ice on his serving tray, (classy!) All of the food upset our stomachs and my steamed clams had no flavor and just the worst side sauce that was super nasty.. and the tortilla chips tasted like they where rolled in sand and baked. We were looking for the Blue Marlin, but must have walked by it and saw The Point. I don't understand the mixed reviews, we found the food, service and views to be excellent. I had a shrimp dish and my wife had chicken fajitas, both were excellent! We had a singer play and sing at our table. We sat outside next to the water, beautiful view and lots of pelicans fishing. The prices are also good, $40 total including a margarita. I highly recommend the Point as a great experience. read more

The only reason why I'm not giving 2 stars is because of the location. It is absolutely gorgeous on the water and a great great location. So I have a positive to start with and that's where it starts and ends. We go there and sit down and I'm like wow this is gonna be good food good are nice times and granted it's my first time here but I mean come on this is a joke. Maybe my expectations are too high but this place is down right ridiculous. First we get our chips and salsa and the chips taste stale, fine no big deal. The salsa wasn't bad either. So we want another basket to go with our 2 orders of guacamole for 10 ppl and "they ran out of chips" oh man the travesty. This is supposed to be a staple of life. No chips ughhhhh. They attempted to make it up with warm tortillas so I guess there is some forgiveness. Some. Honestly it was so slow I feel like I could have went and served us all quicker. The drinks came out slow, the food took forever to come out. They ran out of certain food we tried to order, I mean come on guys what's the deal??? - Then I get my food. I got the Mexican combo plate and it was awful. Seriously the food at filibertos was better. I think my expectations were too higher. I'm over it and I had a great time in Mexico, but I won't be coming back here. I'm going to find another spot with something decent. read more

Really bad service! We were a party of 9 we sat down waiter didn't approach 10-15 mins later. We ordered appetizers and we never got them. We ordered food and got it 40 mins later. We seen that other tables were getting chips and salsa and our waiter told us that they had ran out of chips prior the night before. Really Bad Service!!! read more

The sun, the beach, and leaving your cares away are all things Rocky point is known for... the cuisine is not always what you remember. While Mexican food is the greatest food on the planet, you may not always find the best places to eat in Rocky Point as many fall somewhere in between trying to meet tourist expectations and "free breakfast with your tequila shot on spring break". We always stop by The Point because it has the best views, great staff, and is overall a good place to grab a drink and take a break from marina shopping. It is not a spring break favorite, probably because they don't give you a shot glass necklace for free tequila... but that's also what makes it great. I've not been overwhelmed by the food, but the staff and views make up for it. Stop by, sit over the water, and enjoy what you came to Mexico for.. beer, views, and the ocean. read more

I absolutely make it a point to come here every time we are in town. The restaurant sits out on stilts and on the water. I think this restaurant has the best atmosphere. As soon as you walk in you are immediately greeted and can normally sit where ever you want. We opt to always sit outside and try to get here for sunset. We love sitting outside and seeing all the boats go by and the sunset with a drink in our hand. I always order the chicken enchiladas since I am not a big seafood person. My husband always get the point special which is stuffed fish and he loves it. I think he would lick the plate clean if he could. He also always gets the margarita with strawberry and mango which is delicious. I cannot wait to go back and eat there. We always recommend people to go here when we know they are vacationing in Puerto Penasco. read more

Tourist trap restaurant in El Malecon situated over the water with a great view and that's about it. Overall, the food wasn't great. Clams where very rubbery and lacked seasoning. Queso fundido was just okay as was the whole fried fish. Shrimp cocktail and clam chowder was meh! If we return, it won't be for the food but for the sunset cocktails on the deck. read more

Maybe we were there on an off night, but I find the recent 5 star reviews hard to believe. Waiter didn't speak English, which is somewhat expected as it is Mexico. I speak some Spanish so I placed our orders in Spanish. Food took forever! People who arrived after us got their food before us. When the food finally arrived, one plate was stone cold! Orders were not correct. The beans were also stone cold, entrees were lukewarm and rice was scalding hot! We asked for the one plate to be heated and plate was just whisked away. It took flagging down another waiter who spoke English to finally get the plate returned 10 min later. It was lukewarm at best. The table next to us said the same thing. Overall, we were there over 2 hours. It was not a good experience for being on vacation. We went there as we thought the location and views were amazing. Do not plan to return. read more

I don't know why we'd never come here in all the times we've visited the area. Maybe we thought it was too expensive or the menu wasn't to our liking or the loud American music (we like the music, but we hear it at home). But a waiter we'd been looking for (I guess you could say we stalk (follow around) our fave people) hollered, so we went in. This is a very nice restaurant with a menu that has a couple of things we hadn't seen before, AND the only place OVER the water. Prices seem reasonable, and the music from the bar upstairs is louder from the street than in the restaurant or on their wraparound balcony. It was a good start. We had a reservation for dinner elsewhere, so partner vowed not to eat. So much for that vow. We ordered an iced tea, a Piña Colada and mini Shrimp Chimichangas. There were 6 little chimis on a little mound of fresh guacamole, greens and chipotle cream sauce on the side. This is where partner broke his vow. I should have known when I ordered these, when Omar did the sincere, unsolicited thumbs up, that these would be great. I told him that the next time I have these, to just bring me a tray of these little suckers. Partner and I decided that although the the chipotle sauce was excellent, that the filling and the perfect, light crunchy wrap made these chimis good all by themselves. $17. Best money we've spent this trip so far. We're going back for dinner tonight. read more

This was our favorite meal after a weekend in Puerto Penasco. They had the variety that other restaurants in the area have - jumbo shrimp or fish any way you like it - along with a quiet patio experience RIGHT up against the ocean that is perfect for a special occasion. They also had some dishes that made it seem more like a fine dining restaurant. I ordered the Chef's special which was Sea of Cortez flounder and Rocky point shrimp in a delicious tomato sauce. My boyfriend ordered fajitas which came out in a gigantic, sizzling plate. He also ordered a mango smoothie - forget exactly what it was called on the menu - but definitely fruitier and less sweet than American versions. True heaven! Most of all, I appreciated the quiet patio and the view. We sampled several oceanfront restaurants and this one really takes the cake for ambiance, especially because you can sit right over the ocean. If we visit Rocky Point again, we will definitely be back! read more

Cool view, food is BAD. My family said the shrimp was very plain, no flavor. For a shrimp town we expected much better. Shredded beef tacos were gross and had what appeared to be chicken or an anonymous white meat mixed inside. Alcohol beverages were made well, and looked very appealing. Indoors doesn't have AC, PLEASE know that! My Chicken enchiladas had several bones inside that I chewed on. The main Server was soo rude and made inappropriate comments through out dinner about our large group (11), although he was very thorough with our order and demanded we order a certain way to help him, his overall attitude was that he was annoyed we came in with 11 people. Second time I've ate here while in Rocky Point and this will be the very last time. We just loved the view this is why we returned. read more

The ocean views on the patio were nice, but the food and service were disappointing. I ordered a margarita, which was made from a sugary mix instead of real fruit, and I could not finish it. The waiter was not paying attention to our table, and we were often without drinks. The table was not wiped and was sticky. We never received napkins. It took a very long time for our food to come out, (even though the restaurant was only half full) and it was cold when it did. The fish was dry, and the sides consisted of bland rice and and an overcooked frozen vegetable mix. read more
