I worked with Julie Asher at the Point to arrange a surprise 60 th birthday party for my wife. We utilized the downstairs venue and yard. The coordination and arrangements were smooth. All my guests were blown away with the venue and the overall event. Julie asked all the right questions regarding the menu and head count etc. The food selection was perfect. The quantity as suggested by Julie was spot on. The quality exceeded expectations for what we wanted. I wanted the music to drive the event. I did not want to deal with creating my own playlists etc even though that was an option. Julie recommended a DJ she had worked with before. Natasha, DJ Keza, had everyone up and moving. I gave her minimal direction on genres etc and relied on her expertise. She knocked it out of the park. She also had a Photo Booth option that we used and was a huge crowd pleaser. I highly suggest anyone looking to book a space for an event to reach out to Julie at the Point when searching venues. As for the cost. It was not the cheapest venue I looked into. But the cost was more than reasonable for what was delivered. My party was only 60 people but the venue could easily accommodate many more. Especially utilizing the courtyard area. read more

If I could give this restaurant a 0 star rating I would. We sat at the Tiki bar and the smell of raw sewerage was nauseating. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder for $14 and it was served in a styrofoam cup. The server was very apologetic. No fault of hers. Avoid this restaurant if you want to eat. My party of 8 arrived at noon on Mother's Day. The restaurant was not crowded, many empty tables. I asked if we could order from the regular menu as well as the special menu and the waitress said no, but later, the bartender said yes and brought them over. We received our meals at 1:15. The "oriental chicken salad with fried chicken" consisted of coleslaw, some romaine lettuce, a sprinkling of sliced almonds and a few chowmein noodles and a breaded, sliced chicken patty...the kind you find in the frozen food section, chopped, reconstituted chicken parts, and a side of coleslaw dressing. Disgusting. I expected a wonderful meal on Mother's Day. The last time I ate there, it was outstanding. It's obvious that whoever did the ordering, formulating menus and recipes for this special menu has no clue what they are doing. I asked for oriental dressing and was told by the manager that the bland, yellow, creamy dressing was made with sesame oil and soy sauce. No way! Then the manager sent out some real oriental dressing which she didn't serve because she felt it was too strong. Please get a manager who knows cuisine, or at the least, how to look up a proper recipe! There's no excuse for serving that terrible salad in such a nice restaurant. read more

Had a beautiful sunset dinner here to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday! We were sat on the second floor with a great view of the sunset. The restaurant was very busy but we didn't find service speed to be unreasonably slow. If anything, that gave us a chance to pop downstairs check out the pier and beautiful grounds. The cocktail drinks maybe came out a bit later than the wine, but that's to be expected since they take more effort to make. We started with a crab cake appetizer that was very delicious and everyone was very impressed with. Tons of crab inside and very little filler. The tiki drink special was a great buy for $13 with discounted refills, along with keeping the tiki glass. Actually, all the drinks were very reasonably priced (but that could because I live in Miami...). Food was very tasty and the restaurant was generous to comp dessert for the birthday, which was a delicious piece of chocolate cake. read more

Don't fret about sitting outside, there is a shade that can come down and makes it nice even in the middle of summer. I had the roasted cauliflower which was great, especially the rice. I've roasted a cauliflower before so I was concerned it would be tough since it takes about an hour, but it was still cooked, just not to the full middle, but was more than enough food. I had the srq Paloma which was good, I was intrigued to try it with no grapefruit juice but just with soda, and missed the juice. Service was fast and friendly. read more

My aunt loves this spot, so my mom & I joined her for dinner here recently. The views are fabulous & our server was great. Food wise: highly recommend the truffle fries - absolutely delicious! My mom & aunt both enjoyed their Tiki cocktails but they only had one cider (Angry Orchard) which while good, was a bit disappointing too. We split the truffle fries as an app. For our entrees, we all got something different. My mom got the citrus salad with a crab cake, which she really enjoyed because there was plenty of crab & not much filler. My aunt got the mahi while I had the steak option. I had a shellfish allergy they easily accommodated, however my aunt & I both noticed that our entrees seemed under-seasoned. My steak improved greatly when I added a quick dash of salt & pepper to it, and the same with my side of veggies. The waitress hyped up the risotto, but it also seemed bland to me & could've used some seasoning as well. There was no live music when we were there, but my aunt mentioned that they'll feature it fairly regularly. We sat on the top floor (the bar area) & had fabulous views of the water at sunset, and had no issue getting a table for 3 without a reservation on a Wednesday evening. What an incredible view, our party was seated on the third floor outside about half an hour before sunset. It was a lovely view for our party of 12. However, the food quality and service could not compete with the other amenities this restaurant offers. We had 5 misplaced orders which set apart our groups eating time by about 10 minutes, having some things still missing per order. Of the appetizers requested, the Buffalo chicken dip was fantastic, but the Parmesan truffle fries were less flavorful than desired. Both of our Ceasar salads had chicken on it that tasted like a rubber band ball, another person at our table had the bun on their burger rock solid. Another chicken sandwich and Mahi wrap were missing the signature sauces they advertise. Sauces requested on the side were missing. The craft drinks we all ordered were very delicious however and deserve some recognition. read more

We started with the chips and queso, it was good. our meals were the fish and chips along with a buffalo chicken salad, my wife stated the buffalo sauce tasted different than any other one she has had and was not a big fan. So sad to write thi review because the location would be amazing! Unfortunately the lobster Mac and cheese is NOT lobster at all its immitation and anyone in florida could tell you that. The Mac and cheese is dry noodles with huge broccoli heads and fake immitation lobster and immitation crab mix, cheese not even melted just shredded cheese sitting on top. The worst lobster Mac and cheese in all sarasota and Venice area. Definitely needs new management, how can you have the most perfect location and sub par food? The fish sandwich was really good and not super greasy but the sweet potato fries were unseasoned and not fully cooked. The penne Alfredo with chicken could use salt as well and was just not flavored enough and the chicken did not look fresh at all. Looks like you would have gotten it out of a bag with the fake tan grill marks. SERVICE: They were kind but SUPER slow service. Seemed a little understaffed as far as servers went. If you haven't been in awhile or never, you should go. We like the third floor. The view is great and they have a nice big bar. They have great prices on happy hour all day drinks. Our bartender, Shane, was very attentive and I had the mussels appetizers as my dinner and it was totally enough. Very yummy made with fresh cherry tomatoes and a butter type sauce served with garlic bread for lots of dipping. The location is great. Everything else is marginal. We've been here a couple times and really wanted to love it, as it's close to home. "Bland" is the best way to describe everything about this place, including the food, cocktails, and attitude of the staff. There are few times I've seen the waitstaff in an entire restaurant look so bored and unconcerned with their job. The last server we had practically threw our food at our table and turned on his heel to leave without a word. A few weeks later, we met some friends for drinks and almost had to light our hair on fire to get a server's attention. Really great spot right on the bay. We showed up right at opening thinking they would be packed but we easily got a table and were accommodated very nicely. Our waitress was Melissa and she took great care of us. The food was great and they have a bottomless mimosa option too which we all took advantage of. We all really enjoyed the food which was fresh and really good. It was so good I forgot to take pictures. For having just started brunch they're doing a really great job. My one suggestion would be to update the menu so that it reflects what actually comes with the food. I got sausage gravy and biscuits which was delicious. It came with tater tots which were really good but I wasn't sure because it wasn't listed. read more

Incredible lunch today at The Point. Flavorful and beautifully constructed Bloody Mary with a charcuterie stick that contained bites of meats and cheese (including a Derby Sage slice that I'll find for my next soirée). The warm crab dip starter was good, nicely seasoned and promptly served. I had the most delicious and generous lobster roll (usually comes with fries but I substituted with a side Caesar salad) and my partner enjoyed a delicious burger with crunchy fries (I stole one so I know they were great). All this served expertly by a staff that were attentive and friendly. The Point is situated on the gulf inlet and we ate on the outside deck with views of the water watching boats go by. Great food. Great service. Great location. Cannot wait to return and try the other menu offerings. read more

2 stars for being on the water. Service was ok (we had a big table which always impacts service). However the food was terrible. We had the cajon alfredo with chicken and it was not good. Not sure how it was considered alfredo as sauce was thin and didn't taste like alfredo; the Caesar salad was drowning in dressing. I ended up asking for more romaine to try to eat it (the romaine came with the other meals but it did help it some). A friend had the buffalo chicken egg roles which were essentially devoid of chicken. We ended up sending those back. Bottom line is we won't be going back. read more
