The vessels for the terrariums were really extra small. I managed to get the only normal sized bowl. My sister had to get a tiny one. For $40 the vessels should have been bigger. Or allow you to make two. Brittany asked everyone what was the first step to put together a terrarium and I said the rocks. She said no, it is the sand. The brochure she handed out at the end of the night also said to start with a base of rocks. If you want to have customers, be prepared to have all shapes, sizes and colors. Not sitting on a patio sipping mimosas with my girlfriends (sigh)! Gymboree Play and Music is a great second choice though, and my daughter's first choice for air conditioned climbing fun. She looks forward to each Saturday class with Ms. Taylor for fun, age appropriate games and activities, friends, catchy songs (my husband and I have been singing the 'sitting in my high chair' song all day) bubbles, and of course the indoor playground equipment. She has a blast each time we go, and we love the atmosphere and loosely-structured play environment. While it's encouraged for your kids to follow along with the group activities, if your little one just wants to roll a ball one day, or go up and down the slide, no worries! You be you, little one. Be sure to bring socks for all adults, because if you forget you have to buy a pair for $10 at the front. Kiddos go barefoot to prevent slippage, but do wear play clothes suitable for active play (leave the baby suits and dresses at home and opt for a comfy onesie!). The way Gymboree operates is with a monthly membership that gives you one or more class a week, plus unlimited visits during open gym hours. They have different types of classes available, so depending on what you and your kiddo want for structured play you can choose the appropriate class. We opted for the Play and Learn 3 class after attending the Play and Learn family class we did for our free preview. The family class is for all ages 0-5, and is geared towards families with multiple children attending. It was fun, but we decided the age-appropriate class made the most sense for us. As an FYI- more Hina one adult can attend with your child at once. We attend on Saturday and most of the kids have both parents in attendance, and it's a fun way to meet other parents in the area. Now if only we could incorporate mimosa into Gymboree play, that would be the best of both worlds.

I started out in the beginner class with no previous experience and quickly learned the basics. The beginner class is a reasonable $170 for a 5 week session and you can count on coming home with 6+ pieces. Your final class will be a potluck, work reveal and Raku firing. John and Judy allowed me to take the beginner class for a few sessions until I was confident enough to move forward to the intermediate. I'm currently taking 3 month intermediate sessions with the option of extra studio time on Saturdays for $5. I love to come to class and unwind on Monday nights after a long day; playing with clay is really a form of therapy. The owners are there to assist you hands-on and help you achieve the best result (as are some of your classmates that have been students here for many years). John and Judy often have a different approach to their craft, which is beneficial in that you're exposed to more than one perspective and technique. The best advice that I can give is to eliminate your expectations. Almost every piece you make will look different than you envisioned, but you'll learn to love the unpredictability.
