I can't go out on a Friday now without getting knocking a chav around (I won't be pushed around by lippy kids with attitude). Other nights are great. Saturdays are more mature, slightly older crowd (suits me a bit). More friendly. The upstairs floor is cheesy & 90's music, fantastic. Ice floor can get a bit chavvy with commercial (slit my wrists) r & b. They do throw some trance/dance anthems in there to rave to though. They have brilliant theme nights if you pick wisely. Prices vary MASSIVELY. On large events & saturdays you're looking around £4 for a pint/bottle, sometimes going to £5 depending on the night. Thursdays are well cheap. Security is great though (I know some of them). Very tight, very strict and there's a lot.

The bar staff are efficient, the drinks are suprisingly reasonably priced and its quite easy to get served even though the place gets packed. There is a small entry fee of about £4 or £5 but is worth it for a good night out and the place is open until the early hours.

It isn't easy to turn a proper pub into a classy place without annoying a lot of people but the Cuban Exchange has managed to do just that. I tend to visit during the week and really enjoy the quieter time sat with friends but I'm told it's good at weekends too. Definitely would recommend a visit.

Unfortunately when our 2 friends came to meet us in there they were looked up and down by the doorman who simply shouted no! at them. When they enquired if there was a problem he simply stated You not coming in here avoiding the temptation to correct his English they pointed out that they had friends in the building and asked if they could come and get us. A gruff move away followed by a sucking of the doorman's teeth was the response. Avoid at all costs and find somewhere that gives a damn about their customers or risk an awful experience.

The staff and customers, as per the rock pub tradition are the friendliest in town. Also live stuff such as music and burlesque. The alcohol isnt particualry expensive, its probably about average, and the music tends to be the latest chart toppers and the like. The smoking area is really REALLY small however, not enough room to swing a cat really and this can be a problem when the place is packed. Its a great place to go and observe the 'mutton-dressed-as-lamb' on a saturday night attemptiong to strut their stuff on the dance floor - most amusing!

Sill no real ale so had smoothpour yuk! Had the mixed grill (lamb chops, chicken tikka + tandoori, chicken wings, fish pakora etc) but this took OVER AN HOUR to arrive. Then, within an hour of getting home I became best friends with my loo! Not sure whether to return yet. UPDATE April 2011 new ownership, caribbean food on offer.
