They show most of the major sports events and the drinks selection is better than some bars in town, with standards as well as craft beers and cider. The food though is the winner for me. It's American style menu (which has changed in recent weeks) has plenty of options for the carnivore or vegetarian alike. The portions are generous. I'd recommend the house burger or the grilled cheese with salt beef. If you're extra hungry the deep fried gherkins are delish. Also best sweet potato fries I've had. Pool tables are available, there are long tables with charging points you can work at, printing services, self serve water and a great selection of snacks on the bar. There's a snug section for more quiet nights, but with late opening at the weekend the atmosphere is fab then too. The secret dj app provides the eclectic soundtrack too.

Its a pub in a Students area, which means they have fitted the prices and choice of food / drinks to them. I had the chilly cheese burger. With every meal you got 5 different kind of sauces(free of charge) which are Ketchup, mayo, sticky tabasco, extra hot and something else I cant remember. I really appreciate it when the sauces are free of charge especially when they are spicy!!! I loved the location, they got many kinds of different lights and single seats but I still had the feeling everything is clean and tidy. I recommend this bar for young people.

Whilst I'm not there *quite* as often these days, having moved out of Moseley and hung up my Sunday League boots, it is still my favourite of all the pubs along the B13 drag. There are two bars and plenty of seating and always a friendly welcome from behind the bar. The beer is decent and the food is very good - homemade burgers, breakfast muffins, and so on. There is also an upstairs function room with another bar. This is usually hired out for private parties or to local DJs and promoters. Out the back there is a tiny courtyard that is the very definition of a sun trap. High, bright walls enclose a smattering of benches and reflect the heat onto the lucky afternoon drinker. It gets very busy in the evenings at weekends and also when there is a big football or rugby match on the big screen and is particularly popular when there are international matches on. During the day, however, it's reasonably quiet and a great place for a pint.

In its current incarnation, the Patrick Kavanagh is now more likely to be frequented by 2nd generation Irish settlers from across the way in Hall Green. The pub has a neat, clean feel to it with a kind of an Irish hall of fame tack with pictures of the likes of WB Yeats, (have you noticed how much he looks like Dan Ackroyd?) and the man himself Patrick Kavanagh on the walls. As the main room has no soft furnishings whatsover, weekend night times are super loud as well as super crammed, with everyone's voices bouncing off the walls. Not nice. On a positive slant, the upstairs venue room is one of the best places in Moseley to book for a private party. The back bar that has a rural feel to it, and that's where I'll try to steer people if we are out for the night and they've insisted on dropping in here. Various events take place on weekday and weekend nights including an Irish jam session in the back bar.

Although the setting is very nice and the actual building is very rustic and lovely, I felt that the atmosphere was very tense and was not welcoming at all. The actual food was nice enough, but did not warrant such high prices. i had the mushroom lasagne which was fairly nice, but did not warrant £8.50 for no salad or any condiments whatsoever.

Of particular note are the batter they are using, it's unbelievably delicate and crispy, and the tasty hot sauce. All in all it's cheap enough to be a no brainer, although the venue was lacking a certain cosiness but I'll put that down to the work they are carrying out.
