The service was good. Food was good. Bar stools are old and uncomfortable. Then I get hit with some fee thats not my responsibility. The SVC fee is for service staff expenses - patrons should not be responsible for staff expenses which is diff from tips.

The first times I was a customer of Michaelangelo's was from 1988 through 1992. This was Monterey…read morePark and my introduction to fast food/restaurant pizza since I was 9 to 10 years old. I remember the Addams Family pinball table, the original Turtles arcade, King of the Monsters, Baseball Stars, the octagonal shape bar counter adjacent to the open pizza kitchen, the wall mirror tiles with yellow veins over the red leather booths and the RGB TV projector showing Raiders games on the walls. I remember the slices, pepperoni when I was that kid, the tomato sauce was thicker, chunkier. After Mikey's closed and moved I figured it was over, the end of an era forever. I learned of a Michaelangelo's in San Dimas through casual research in 2019, there is a Michael Angelo's somewhere in California but it wasn't until after the pandemic that I learned through more research the San Dimas and Monterey Park locations were/are the same place. I returned for the first time in 34 years May of '26. I ordered a medium meat lovers pizza to see what would happen. The dark red walls, the multiple flat screens and the modern arcade decor are a far cry from the 80's and early 90's. Still, they provide a welcome atmosphere of familiarity. The nostalgia builds all over again. The recipe felt so familiar and delicious to me but more than that. Michaelangelo's pizza tasted like memories. I tried the Michaelangelo's special in June. The Supreme pizza that you don't appreciate as a kid but only as an adult. The almost sourdough taste to the crust, the olive oil or canola oil flavor to the vegetables and cheese. I requested and got an extra layer of marinara sauce at no extra charge. It was sweet, tangy, I do miss the thick, chunky texture the sauce used to be on those slices but, as most of us old timers say, that was a long time ago. Based upon my three recent visits to Mikey's, because I am not in their 5 mile radius and I can only visit once a month, Michaelangelo's Pizza 1985 gets a solid from me. Do not order ahead of time except for catering. Walk in to order and visit as late as 7 to 7:30pm as they'll still keep those ovens on. Forget Domino's, bland. Forget Pizza Hut, it's spicy sponge. Forget Little Caesars, the cheese is Chef Boyardee. Chuck E. Cheese, WTF is that?! Forget Round Table, Shakeys and Straw Hat, their pizzas are the typical pay grade above DiGiornos but Michaelangelo's pizza tastes like memories, absolute bloody good memories. And nothing, I mean nothing has literally replaced the empty space that Michaelangelo's left behind in Monterey Park near East Los Angeles College longer than a few months. All those businesses failed and continue to fail. When I go there, it's not just the great pizza but the 80's and early 90's trip through time in TV and video games. That's what Michaelangelo's means to me.

After she took our order she was off the clock, I see why. The 2 young. cashiers who replaced her were friendly. We got the meat lovers and dry wings. The pizza was a 6.7/10. The wings were big and juicy, they get a solid 7.4/10 It seems like a perfect spot for game nights or huge sporting events. I would definitely come back.

We spent nearly 30 minutes attempting to contact the restaurant, but we kept receiving a busy signal. I decided to drive to the location because I was craving their white cheese pizza, as it is one of the few places where I actually enjoy the crust. Upon arrival, I noticed no one was using the phones, yet I continued to receive a busy signal. I prefer to call ahead before picking up food to avoid waiting at the restaurant. The woody's pizza was very flavorful and the ingredients tasted fresh! You have the option between thin crust and regular crust. We went with the thin crust. Their chicken pesto pasta was also very creamy and flavorful! The pesto flavor was fragrant. We also ordered a slice of chocolate cake which was just okay. It tasted like a grocery store cake slice. Service was excellent! The worker there was kind and quickly assisted us. The pizza shop is a bit small with a few tables but it's catered towards a to go experience. It's a small and low key pizza spot with some limited seating inside and outside. Chill and easy enough. For our lunch, we got 3 small pizzas: 1) BBQ Chicken: -This comes with red onion, chicken, cilantro, mozzarella cheese, and BBQ sauce on top. -Decent pizza, chicken pieces were a tad dry but it was plentiful at least. 2) Prosciutto Arugula: -Comes with prosciutto, arugula, a small center salad, corn, tomato, mozzarella cheese, fresh mozzarella, and raspberry vin, garlic olive oil sauce. -Sounds super fancy, but it's a nice touch of all flavor profiles. Sweetness of corn, tart sourness of the raspberry vin, creaminess of the fresh mozzarella, earthiness of arugula, and saltiness of prosciutto. Decent mix of textures. 3) Six Cheeses: -The cheese are asiago, fontina, parmesan, provolone, mozzarella, Romano, and pizza sauce. -By the time we got home, we're around 30 minutes from this place the cheese had already coagulated so it wasn't gooey and yummy, but nothing a little reheating won't help. -Cheese is usually the easiest pizza to eat but this ended up being super salty unfortunately. Curst and dough were alright quality. It just tasted like everything was much more salty than what I would have preferred and what I'm used to me. Maybe it was the pizza types we ordered, which is disappointing since I love a place that has unique offerings.

The couple of tables outside and large "OPEN" sign made it easier to spot. Inside, there are a bunch of Detroit style slice options laid out with descriptions. I went around 1:15pm on a Wednesday, and there were a couple of people eating at the bar seating. Ordering was quick, and they rewarm the slices as you pay at the counter. They also have picnic blankets you can borrow to sit on the grass outside, which I thought was a nice touch. It was way too hot when I went, so maybe next time. I ordered the Meat Your Maker (meat lovers, $8) and Foul Play (BBQ chicken, $8.50). Each slice is cut in half, making it a pretty good portion for the price. - Meat Your Maker: Very generous with the meat, and all the toppings worked well together without overpowering each other. You can tell the red sauce tasted housemade from the fresh, flavorful taste. - Foul Play: They didn't skimp on the chicken, which was juicy, tender, and thinly sliced. I really liked the balsamic grilled onions, which were a nice upgrade from the usual raw onions on BBQ chicken pizza. Overall, great pizza with creative toppings and a good variety of slices. I really liked both and would definitely come back to try the other options.
