It's a fitness dedicated environment not a "see & be seen" environment. Ideal for anyone dedicated to improving their physique safely & significantly. Always a clean gym with dressing rooms and showers to facilitate commitments post workout. I have noticed there are numerous women who are within my age range 50-80) working with trainers as well. I come from a ballet & Pilates background (certified in teaching Pilates) and need to rebuild lost muscle mass from age & injury so I really appreciate the quality of training and the knowledge Dewayne possesses to prevent me from injuring myself.

My main goal is to remain strong enough that I will not go into a nursing home. The nursing home my father was in was filled with women who were frail but they had their minds. I did not think they were well taken care of in terms of their grooming -- not to mention the high cost of any of these places. I decided this will not be my fate. This facility is very clean and it is a fun place to be and close to my home in West University. I enjoy the music they play and love all the R&B on Friday. The young trainers like other music the other four days. All of their trainers are excellent and keep their mature members as well as their young members in very good shape. I enjoy the whole atmosphere and the trainer I am working with --DeWayne Malone. I highly recommend him. Ellen Vestewig

Just recently visited the Lifetime location located inside the Houston Galleria Mall and to start I…read morewill say the location is not the easiest to find. To find it the quickest way is to input 5100 W Alabama St in your GPS where it will take you to the Orange Garage of the Galleria. From there you'll eventually start to see barely visible signage directing you where to park (Level 3). The official name of this location is Lifetime Galleria Tennis and it's considered a Diamond Level location. I called ahead of time to see if they had other gym amenities besides the tennis courts and they said they do have a workout area with weights and cardio machines but it's not at the same capacity as a traditional Lifetime gym. I decided to check it out anyway and the facility is about 90% tennis courts and 10% workout floor. The workout floor is extremely limited. There's only a few machines for lifting, I think I counted 4 treadmills and 4 stair masters. I was surprised at how small the place was. But the tennis courts are massive. I think this used to be owned by a different gym and rebranded into a Lifetime Fitness because I know for a fact this location hasn't been here for that long. I'm a bit disappointed on the upkeep of the facility. It doesn't feel like a Lifetime Fitness, it feels like an old dungeon. The renovations that were made to turn this place into a Lifetime Fitness seem very sloppy. There is no pool. No studios for workout classes. But there is a LifeCafe. If you just want to play tennis it's a decent place. But my first impressions weren't great. For $279 a month, I don't think this is worth labeling as a Diamond Level location. The staff is very friendly though, I'll give them that.

Great gym with nice indoor tennis facilities…read more Find tennis hitting partners near you in Houston on joinplaytennis.com/houston

This is a great neighborhood YMCA with a good variety of amenities and classes. One of the biggest…read morehighlights is the outdoor pool, which is heated during the winter and stays open year-round unless temperatures drop below freezing. The pool also has a 9-foot deep end and a few lap lanes. One downside is there's very little shade around the pool area. Inside, there are free weights and cardio areas, basketball courts, TRX setup, and several group fitness rooms offering classes like yoga, pilates, Zumba, pickleball, and other fitness programs. The instructors and staff have always been very friendly and welcoming. The men's and women's locker rooms also include a steam sauna and hot tub, which are nice amenities. However, the steam saunas are frequently closed or broken for maintenance, so I'd recommend calling ahead to confirm what's currently working before visiting. Another downside is that the lockers require you to bring your own lock--they do not have built-in combination locks like many newer gyms. They offer memberships for different age groups, and another huge plus is the free covered parking garage. However, during weekday evenings (around 6 p.m.), the garage can get pretty full due to after-work crowds and youth programs. I've been a YMCA member for several years and would definitely recommend this location.

Since I mapped it out beforehand, I knew where to park and how to get to the gym. This was a fairly large shopping area, but EQX was right there, and the desk is there in front once you enter. There was a really nice girl this day with long braids, and she directed me upstairs to the locker room and informed me that parking validation was not necessary at this time; the gate just went up as you pulled up to it. Perfect! After going upstairs, I did wander around and then a trainer directed me over to the locker room, which was spacious and very clean. The fitness floor is on the second, and as soon as I found the treadmills, I knew where I belonged. Light movement in the stretching area after, and then back to a shower with decent water pressure. What I was fascinated with was how friendly staff was. Trainers actually smiled and said goodbye which you won't normally see in California or New York. I certainly wasn't at home! Compared to other locations, this one was very low-key, although I admit I came during the afternoon where it was probably quieter. I had forgotten this is the location that I was in contact with back in 2020 when I had ordered some masks from their shop since they were actually open. I had such a good experience that the trip here to see them in person was worth it!

The gym equipment is a bit outdated though. I do like the fact that they offer cold towels post-workout to cool off. For the Spa treatment, I got the Hydrafacial 50 Min - Deluxe. For a first timer, you can also receive a 25% discount as well. Kristen was my esthetician and she was truly the best! You could tell that she was very experienced. She was very knowledgeable about all of the products and the facial itself was very relaxing. Really enjoyed the lymphatic drainage the most, she had my face looking snatched and jawline on point and skin truly glowing. 100% recommend booking her for a facial!
