My friend introduced me to TruFusion on Post Oak because she knows my love for working out. I hadn't heard of Tru Fusion prior but I signed up for Hot Barre on a late Friday morning. I got a call and several emails to complete a waiver and additional details I needed before the class. I got there around 10:45am, checked in at the desk and was shown to my locker. The space was really big, well decorated, and very clean. There was also plenty of parking available which is always a plus. This was my first time taking barre, let alone hot barre so I truly didn't know what I was getting myself into. I did an intense workout at Orange Theory prior, as well as a two-a-day the day before so I was very tired. I expected barre to be like yoga but it was not. The class was intense and my body was not up for it. I didn't get a chance to really appreciate the class because I was over it before it started. I also didn't care for the other ladies in the class. A few came off snobby and not inviting. The instructor, while good, could have taken the time to acknowledge the newbies. Like girl we aren't all experts. Sigh. Anyway, I do plan on going back to try their HIIT class as that may be more up my alley. They have plenty of classes to choose from, somewhat cost effective and they give discounts for those who live in certain high rises in the area.

I loved the yoga studio! I came in for a drop-in class and I will say I preferred it over BSY due to the fact that it had a locker room. I LOVED the option of classes and the fact that the whole process was organized. There's TRX, Pilates, yoga, sound bath/breathwork classes, heated bootcamps, cycle class and more all in one spot. I recommend taking breathwork/sound bath class with Sebastien, very relaxing!

I got to check out this place with Class Pass and it was great! They have lots of options in classes but I went with the Tru Circut with Patrick and it was great. I loved the variety in exercises, there were 4 different splits in the 1 hour class and each split had about it 4 different movements. Patrick took the time to learn my name which felt nice.

I purchased a Groupon for 5 wks of bootcamp and broke my ankle and have had to have surgery twice. My Groupon had long expired by then and I am still testing the limits of their patience hoping to begin the sessions next month. Furthermore, I did attend one session and - for my specific purposes - it was hands down the best bootcamp of its type. Why? Because you get a full hour - not just 30 minutes. (includes warm up/down), it is outside at a park and no equipment is used (except for dumbbells), just the resistance of your own body weight. Most important of all (for ME) there is no unwanted rap music inflicted on you. Lastly, I will give one caution: The workout is intense. I only lasted a half-hour and was sore for several days. I am 57 and in average shape. I hope to post an updated review when I have completed my sessions to let you know the results!

The classes are targeted best for beginners and intermediate level and is conveniently located in Grady Park, across the street from the Marathon building. The instructor, Manny, provides a variety of drills to keep the workout fun and challenging. The best part is (unlike other exercise programs such as running on the treadmill), the hour goes by fast. In addition, Manny also incorporates exercises from crossfit such as deadlifts, tabatha style method and kettlebell workouts. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is trying to lose weight, increase their stamina, strengthen their muscle and work or lives in the Galleria area.

One of my good friends started CG (Ft. Worth area) in 2020. Watching her transform mentally & physically I was curious on what she was doing. Over several weeks of grilling her I decided to be brave & signed up for a class that is offered by my house & I am hooked. I am so glad I started training with Brandon as I was getting worried about my bone strength & having these horrible visions of having impaired mobility as I get older. At the camp, you go at your own pace & it is really exciting when you see/feel the milestones & improvements in your journey. After 3 months I am stronger, more flexible, faster & mentally I feel so freakin' good. Brandon will give modifications per exercise & is very hands on as he walks around to correct your form or to give you a shout out. His enthusiasm for what he does shows, he is truly vested in your journey. Did I mention he is the best trainer I've had? Ever? As mentioned above, every "camp" is different. And as I have the best trainer at CG that loves to mix things up. Don't be surprised to see cornhole, a basketball hoop or huge jenga in the parking lot. Each class is well thought out & the hour goes by very quickly. You work the whole body (cardio & strength) including your mind as Brandon leads you through a routine that makes you THINK about what you are doing or how you are going to do it. Camp Gladiator is a four week outdoor group fitness program. The workouts cycle per week & builds on the previous week's training. I like that there is a different focus per week: Week 1 - Endurance - "Full body workouts that keep your heart rate at a steady pace" Week 2 - Strength & Agility - "Agile movements to work on coordination & muscular efficiency" Week 3 - Interval - "High intensity workouts with short rest periods in between" Week 4 - Peak - "Challenging workouts that push you to your highest exertion level" This location is in the West parking lot of the Memorial Drive United Methodist Church (MDUMC!). I love this location because, duh, Brandon, it is a safe location & the people. Community is a focal point with CG & being in a class with people of different ages & fitness levels is motivating & fun. CG offers members access to unlimited workouts whether you hit an outdoor class or a virtual workout (there are so many virtual classes to choose from across 7 states). So come out & join me one fine morning at Camp Gladiator - MDUMC. One class with Brandon & you will see why I am so enthusiastic about my fitness journey. AND Brandon offers coffee after camp. Get your sweat on, grab a cup of exceptional java, hang out with other campers & don't forget to say Hi to Finley, the cutest side-kick dog! See ya there!!!!!!!

Sweating, running, push-ups, pull-ups, etc., and being expected to complete the series of assigned exercises? You probably also remember the last time you were able to do all those things with ease when you were 12. Well, Body Camp is like that. As an adult, I appreciate the simplicity of conditioning your body by using your own strength and resistance. No gym, no weights, just good old-fashioned physical labor. For me, SEAL PT is the best workout. I took classes years ago, but moved and had to drop out. I'm hoping to achieve this time around what I did then, which is to get into the best shape of my life. Graduating to the more difficult Boot Camp and eventually becoming a Lifer would be great, too. The camaraderie and results can't be found in a gym. As a side note, Instructor Harris is not boring! At least my body doesn't think so - three days straight of his workouts required multiple Advils just to function.

Jared and Ricky are the instructors: Jared teaches 6 a.m. Monday & Wednesday classes, and Ricky teaches 6:15 p.m. Tuesday & Thursday classes. Classes are held in Levy Park, which is right off of Richmond and Eastside. It costs 80 bucks for 8 sessions: that's a crazy steal in the fitness world. To sign up, go to the website and pay. Then just show up for a class. You have to use them in 4 weeks or you lose them, so that means committing to at least 2 a week. You'll feel the difference in a week - I've gotten so much stronger already, and I've only been to 4 sessions so far. As for the difficulty of the workouts, yep, it's tough. The great thing is that it's geared for women, and they make lots of suggestions about modifying exercises if they're too difficult for you in the beginning. If you're not into the boot camp thing, they also do personal training. Check 'em out for that too!
