She's fun, energetic and an great instructor for all levels! I have never taken her class and not gotten the shakes during the workout. I always feel so great after like I actually accomplished a great workout that I wouldn't have done if I had went to the gym alone. If you're looking for an awesome Pilates studio I'd strongly recommend Boost Pilates! All will walk away feeling accomplished from beginners to upper levels.

If I were new, it would probably be more like 2-3 stars. There's been a turnover of instructors, and they are rallying. While the new teachers are nice and putting in the effort, they lack foundational Pilates knowledge. Classes are similar to a spin class because instructors talk and encourage the WHOLE time. It ends up being a bit chaotic because people can't distinguish between the cheerleading, the necessary cues, or spring changes. Most importantly, the detailed form cues and corrections are missing. Classes feel rushed and lack clear direction on technique, which is the opposite of what Pilates should be. Classes can still be hard and appropriately paced. The cues and form are what makes Pilates hard, not rushing through moves. (Its also physically impossible to do a weighted low squat and a shoulder press within 1 second- let alone safely on a reformer. Why are we doing this?) It seems they all went to the same training class and haven't trained with different instructors so it's a problem across the 6-8 teachers I've tried in the last 3 months. If it weren't for Stacey and Caroline, I'd have moved to a closer studio by now. I hope the instructors undergo more training and are introduced to more than one type of teaching so they develop their own style. People are nice, and they are trying, but they aren't there yet.

Check in was super easy. There's an iPad on the wall and you just check in independently and pick out the reformer you want. Theres a nice big mirror the spans an entire wall. Lots of core strength and a couple of cubbies to place your things. Grip socks are not required but I wore them because safety first. Lots of pulses. Can't wait to go again and feel the burn and muscles spasm.

There is a very high turnover of instructors. Excellent instructors tend to stay for a while and then leave, while many of the newer instructors are not as good. Their classes are often too easy, instructions are not always clear, and some classes finish before the full 50 minutes. There is also a lack of consistency in the level and content of the classes. At times, it seems that instructors are teaching what they know rather than necessarily teaching Pilates. The Friday and weekend schedule has also been reduced significantly. Classes are sometimes canceled at the last minute, and Cardio Sculpt classes have been reduced to a minimum. Some instructors who have been there for a while rarely change their exercise routines, making their classes very repetitive. In contrast, the excellent instructors follow the intended structure and difficulty of the class, vary the exercises from class to class and week to week, provide clear and precise instructions, and allow an appropriate amount of stretching at the end without compromising the actual exercise time. Another issue is the lack of a constructive way for members to provide feedback. If management is genuinely interested in improving the studio, there should be an anonymous suggestion box or another easy, confidential way for members to provide both positive and negative feedback without feeling uncomfortable. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere is a definite positive, but the quality and consistency of the classes need significant improvement. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and works to address them.

I never feel pressured to do something I don't feel like my body can do, and the instructors are always providing modifications. It makes it feel all the sweeter when I find myself not needing to do certain modifications later down the road! You can electronically sign in when you come to class. It's first come first serve so pick any reformer you want. The instructors are friendly and helpful if it's your first time. We turned to yelp for help :) We were looking for the following in a studio to supplement our gym membership: 1) small classes 2) personal attention 3) encouraging and attentive teachers This studio has all 3 of these things, but it's not limited to Pilates! They have yoga and cycling classes that meet the above three requirements too! We've only been members since October, but we look forward to our weekly classes. What's really nice is the class feels tailored to us. My husband and I have different bodies (height, strength, flexibility, etc), and the teachers really adapt to us! They'll change certain routines to ensure each student is getting the most of the session. It's a great personalized experience, and your body will thank you. From a chat with the barista, I learned that Duo started because the husband had a love for coffee and the wife had a passion for pilates, so they thought "why not combine the two?" The River Oaks location is the founding store and they have since expanded to a second location as well. The people who work here truly seem happy and are eager to share the stories of their founders, which makes the place even more special. During my visit, I tried the birthday cake latte, which is a seasonal drink, and the flavors were also beyond what I've tried elsewhere. I'm typically not a fan of birthday cake flavored items, but I was feeling adventurous so I told the barista to surprise me with a drink from their menu and that's the flavor they ended up picking for me. When I received the birthday cake latte, I wasn't all that excited but all prejudice fell away after the first sip! I didn't adjust any sugar or ice levels like I typically do for my drinks, yet the drink was just right! Inside, I was not at all disappointed, actually a little shocked with the loong queue of people ...ha ha....so much for a dash of to-go coffee ! While they have plenty of outside seating which is really nice in the October Houston weather, inside there are neat and artistically arranged sofas, and a nook with some art pieces for sale. There have a decent variety of pastries along with coffee and everything is made in house, especially the coffee which you can see being made. I wish I had the time to sit and savour the coffee as much as the ambiance. Got my Iced Latte with an extra shot of espresso, and I don't know if it comes like that, or the girl forgot, there was no suger in it, or any kind of sweetener .....one star down! The other one we got was their speciality - it was called Hojicha Latte- never heard or seen one. Google Guru helped me understand that it is a Japanese drink. Hojicha is actually roasted green tea powder, with much less caffeine than a matcha. It comes with milk...interesting. Tasted also interesting, had a flowery kinda taste. Parking is street parking which might be an issue, but today being Sat it was fine. I understand they have valet and self parking at the Hanover Autry Park garage entrance.
