    Pilates/ barre studio
    Stella F.

I came for a Pilates class sponsored by my apartment. There is free parking in the deck or out front during the day. We checked in and were shown upstairs. They include all equipment with their classes so it's nice you don't have to bring a Pilates mat. Our Pilates instructor was super excited and informative. She explained why we were doing certain poses, the history of Pilates, what muscle groups you should feel the movements. The Pilates studio has great views with expansive windows. We got a tour of the gym and different rooms. My one issue was when I asked of they have reformer Pilates classes I got a very nonsensical excuse for why they don't (you can get the same benefit if you do our yoga, bar, and mat Pilates classes in conjunction and it's not as good as the private reformer class which they do have). Otherwise the facility was very clean, had a sauna, 400 classes a month and they all but guarantee no more than 1/3 of any kind of machine is in use at a time. The monthly fee includes everything but the smoothie shop, merch, and private lessons. I seriously considered joining but have another membership for now.

I joined Equinox last September. It's been a year and I am leaving for some personal reasons but I will give credit where it's deserved. Started out at 198lbs ~28% body fat Now ~155lbs ~12% body fat No Equinox did not make me do it - I did it myself for myself but Equinox helped a lot. (oh so did fixing my diet - eat a lot of veggies less meat) Sean Bohn opened my eyes to yoga and showed me that Yoga is not just for weirdos. He is a super chill guy who I believe in his past life long long time ago in a galaxy far away was a sand surfing jedi Joseph Manuel some how magically convinced me through his Precision Running class that running can be fun and group fitness can be fun too. He's super encouraging optimism is amazing and let's be honest (even as a straight male speaking) he's really good looking. Becky Riddle introduced me to pilates and barre and always made me feel welcome even when sometimes I was the only guy in class. And her classes made me realize how incomplete my body is and actually helped me a lot with strengthening my core so I could fix my squat form. Chad Neal is my favorite cycling teacher. He is the one who really got me into cycling and taught me how to cycle with correct form. He not only helped me burn ~700 calories in 45 mins in his classes but also made sure that I used proper form. I used to just bounce around a lot on a bike but Chad would come by before and even during class to make sure my form was good. Now I don't have sore back or tight treps/ necks after I cycle and I appreciate that a lot. (his Anthem class was that class I wanted to go for my last day at Equinox but I couldn't make it due to work :( ) Anthony May - I discovered his classes near the end of the year but I really like his group classes like definitions, master of one, etc. Also I am going to really really miss his signature quote at the end of all of his work outs "All your trouble just goes away". I may not actually be remembering it word for word but I will always remember the positive energy that gave me. Ashely Horwitz really knew how to put some pepper on my ass to get me going in her classes. All she wants from you is to be at your best in her class. If you have played Pokemon before - yes, she is basically the final and last gym trainer who gives you the final badge. P.S the maintenance crew there is amazing and so are most of people who work there. I especially appreciate the trainers who walk around the gym like a hawk looking for un-racked weights to make sure the gym is organized.

Reminded me of a gym you'd find at an apartment complex :/ too small and outdated equipment. Also, way too expensive for what it is.

Toilet paper everywhere and overall woman leaving behind items in lockers and on the floors. This is very disappointing because I have been to $10 a month gyms that have been cleaner than this gym so Idk if this on the guests or staff, but if wasn't for this gym would be 5 stars. I hope this gets resolved because I wouldn't trust using and bathing in the woman's locker room.

I like the stair masters because they are all working. However, they are lined up in front of a beautiful picturesque window. While stepping on the machine, I see the top of the windows. The worse part of exercise in front of a TV, my face is less than 3 feet from the TV monitor. What the hell? I don't want to get a tan while working on my legs. It's hot as is. The gym was closed from September 30th to October 19th, 2025. When it opened on October 20th, there were not many people for about a week. Now, it's very crowded. I had been going to the Dairy Ashford location and the park for my daily exercise during this time. Because it's a 24 hour gym, it doesn't mean it's a bus station or travel center for everyone to take shower and sleep here at night. I noticed a man on his wheelchair always parked next to the first row of treadmills. OMG. I had to walk around the mirror pillar to pass that point with incoming traffic. Sometimes, other spaces are taken because they put too many machines between the pillars. Management, it's either ask the man to sleep somewhere else, go home or remove one treadmill. He is there every night I workout after 11 pm. Not sure if he lives there or waiting for his ride to finish working out or whatever excuse it is. I wasn't too concerned at first. But it's getting annoyed. I have seen other homeless people visiting the gym before. They don't bother other people but their stink cause a lot of anxiety in the locker room. Well... rant over.

To find it the quickest way is to input 5100 W Alabama St in your GPS where it will take you to the Orange Garage of the Galleria. From there you'll eventually start to see barely visible signage directing you where to park (Level 3). The official name of this location is Lifetime Galleria Tennis and it's considered a Diamond Level location. I called ahead of time to see if they had other gym amenities besides the tennis courts and they said they do have a workout area with weights and cardio machines but it's not at the same capacity as a traditional Lifetime gym. I decided to check it out anyway and the facility is about 90% tennis courts and 10% workout floor. The workout floor is extremely limited. There's only a few machines for lifting, I think I counted 4 treadmills and 4 stair masters. I was surprised at how small the place was. But the tennis courts are massive. I think this used to be owned by a different gym and rebranded into a Lifetime Fitness because I know for a fact this location hasn't been here for that long. I'm a bit disappointed on the upkeep of the facility. It doesn't feel like a Lifetime Fitness, it feels like an old dungeon. The renovations that were made to turn this place into a Lifetime Fitness seem very sloppy. There is no pool. No studios for workout classes. But there is a LifeCafe. If you just want to play tennis it's a decent place. But my first impressions weren't great. For $279 a month, I don't think this is worth labeling as a Diamond Level location. The staff is very friendly though, I'll give them that.

The pool also has a 9-foot deep end and a few lap lanes. One downside is there's very little shade around the pool area. Inside, there are free weights and cardio areas, basketball courts, TRX setup, and several group fitness rooms offering classes like yoga, pilates, Zumba, pickleball, and other fitness programs. The instructors and staff have always been very friendly and welcoming. The men's and women's locker rooms also include a steam sauna and hot tub, which are nice amenities. However, the steam saunas are frequently closed or broken for maintenance, so I'd recommend calling ahead to confirm what's currently working before visiting. Another downside is that the lockers require you to bring your own lock--they do not have built-in combination locks like many newer gyms. They offer memberships for different age groups, and another huge plus is the free covered parking garage. However, during weekday evenings (around 6 p.m.), the garage can get pretty full due to after-work crowds and youth programs. I also like the weight room as it has an impressive selection of smith machines and cardio equipment such as the treadmills which have fans incorporated into their machines. There are 3 things I have noticed that I don't like: 1. the weight room doesn't have a bench that allows you to do workouts in declined mode and the staff wouldn't let me donate a commercial bench with that option. so Declined DB or BB press cannot be done which is strange as it is offered at most corporate gyms. 2. DB selections for the most common weights sets such as 10-25 lb are lacking with only 1 set of DB weights per designated weight for a gym that might have 15 people working out in free weight room (the very least offer *3 sets of 12 lb dumbbells). 3. the men's locker rooms wooden benches and the three leather seats by the tv are stinky dirty and we know this bc every-time I placed my towel on the seats or the bench to change out of my clothes; this foul smell is left on the towel. The smell is so potent that it transfers to my gym bag like trash left out on the sun for several days and I find myself having to wash the towel and the gym bag just to get the homeless stench off. I have learned to avoid the men's locker room like a plague and instead use the lockers found across the gym to put my belongings.
