Lunch time

Really good food and great prices. Have not been to Texas in a while and was in San Angelo. Loved this spot. Came here first and glad I did. $24.00 for all this. 1/2 pound of brisket, 3 sides, and a Mexican coke. Yummmm

Pretty solid BBQ. The staff is super friendly, and service was top notch. We got a little bit of everything. We will be back!!!

First off, the food is good. We ordered st the counter, and they made it right in front of us. The restaurant is cozy. They had a few tvs with some sports on, not loud when we went. I want to come back and try all the sides.

Checked YELP for a good local place to stop for lunch on the road from Ruidoso to San Antonio. The PIT was highly recommended so we cut though town to find the food truck parked on a concrete slab inside a big chain link enclosure. Wooden picnic tables with shade umbrellas provided a dining on site option. The menu - aaahhh. Brisket, chopped beef, pulled pork, sausage - by the pound, on a sammy or wrap, in a baked potato - so many options! We placed our order with a big guy with a bandana on his head (one of the owners). Our choices were the jalapeno cheese sausage (tender and flavorful!) wrapped in a flour tortilla, the signature Jailbreak sandwich, and a side of cheesy squash. The Jailbreak is a soft bun smeared with peanut butter and a big blob of grape jelly topped with a nice slice of brisket. I know it sounds weird and possibly gross, but it was FABULOUS. Super tender brisket matched with those other distinctive flavors somehow really works! Take a chance and try it! The squash was cooked to perfection and SO DELICIOUS. We sat in the shade on a hot afternoon eating fab food and smiling at our decision to get off the route and find The PIT. Don't miss it!

Nice place now that the inside is open. Second time here, tried the Friday special- The Jail Break. Don't knock it until you try it! Bottom bun smothered with peanut butter then sliced brisket then grape jelly squeezed on top. Sounds weird but tastes pretty good. I did miss putting bbq sauce on it, but it's really a good twist on a traditional pb&j. Came with a side and a drink for $9.99!

If you have not tried the jailbreak it is a must. Best bbq sandwich I have ever had and worth every penny.

The only thing that I have ever ordered from this place is the pulled pork barbecue sandwich, and it's pretty good.

Fantastic Texas pit BBQ. The brisket is amazing and tender. Everything was cooked to perfection. Get the side of beans.

Pork was under cooked, the "toasted bun" was just plain white bread brisket was alright. The best part was probably the soda.

Ate here for lunch on a recommendation from a coworker while I was in town…read more Typical Texas BBQ joint atmosphere, quaint with a hint of BBQ smoke lingering in the air. The Food: WOW, absolutely amazing Texas style BBQ. I had the 2 meat plate, brisket and sausage with 2 sides, fries and beans. The portion size was Texas sized and this meal ended up being lunch and dinner. The brisket was Smokey and moist, the sausage had an excellent flavor with a good crisp on the skin. Fries are Fries, kinda hard to mess that up, and the beans were. The staff were friendly and smiling the entire time. They answered all of my questions and actually engaged us while we were there. I will definitely return here next time I am in town.

I was greeted as soon as I walked in the guy behind the counter helped me with my choices. I was looking for either 2 or 4 piece chicken tender meals since there are two of us for dinner. As far as FRIED chicken their only two options (excluding BBQ) are 3 or 5 piece tenders or a bundle of wings w/tots or fries. I opted for the 5 with tots so we both could have at least 2 tenders each. As I waited I noticed the restaurant was pretty clean, the drive thru was busy and looks like they were also getting a catering order ready for delivery. My wait wasn't that long perhaps 5-7 minutes as the chicken is cooked fresh when ordered. None of that precooked crap under a heat lamp here. We really liked our chicken tender dinner w/tots and the assorted dipping sauces on the side. Nice portion size enough for 2 people for sure. No pics to post as I forgot my camera but will definitely post pics on our next BBQ mission. They do have a nice BBQ menu and I'm not sure why their online menu doesn't show chicken tender meals???

So today is Wednesday and every Wednesday is the BBQ pulled pork sandwich for just $3.00 yes thats right $3.00. You can order sides, coleslaw, chips, potato salad and macaroni salad but it will add to the $3.00. As far as my 2 choice meat dish with 2 sides, it wasn't bad but coming from Kansas City, MO, I've had the BEST BBQ. I really don't like seeing bottles of BBQ sauce on my table to squirt on smoked meat. Slather on the BBQ sauce while you are smoking in people and slather it on several times. This is the 5th BBQ restaurant we've been to since moving here in Jan 2026 and not one place had burnt ends. Anyway, the restaurant was somewhat clean a little dingy looking inside but non the less clean. I'm not fond of seeing partial loaves of Walmart brand of white bread on each of the tables. Whose filthy hands has been inside that loaf of bread? NOPE, not happening with me, YUCK. I'm still giving 4 stars.

Now, I'm born and raised mostly in Kansas City, MO, home of the world famous American Royal and American Royal BBQ so I know BBQ! My second taste is authentic Mexican food having lived in Southern California. OK back to BBQ, we decided on Bodacious simply because we have driven past it numerous times and it's close to historic downtown. The restaurant is very clean with plenty of seating inside and outside. We were welcomed in and the friendly team member took our order. The menu has several items to pick from and I was really hoping for burnt ends and did not see them on the menu. I haven't had burnt ends since leaving Kansas City back in 2013. Our wait wasn't very long until he called my name. Due to low supply of ribs my husband was only able to get a 1/2 order with his coleslaw which was ok because they discounted the price by 1/2 so not bad. I opted for the 2 meat dinner with 2 sides. I would have like a little more of the meat as I mostly got sausage. We both loved our meals, tender flavorful meat, great baked beans and the coleslaw and Mac-n-cheese were good as well. The prices were comparable to other restaurants in the area plus they have a desert choice too. While we were sitting and devouring our dinner, we noticed a lot of carry out orders so that was nice to see their carry out business was busy. We try to avoid chain restaurants and stick to mom & pop businesses and we prefer to do business downtown or as close to it as possible to support our local businesses. Those to the N, W, S, E and rural areas of town can support those outer-lying businesses. We will be returning customers and I do recommend you give these folks a try the next time you have the urge for BBQ. I hope you will be just as pleased as we were with wherever you choose your next BBQ dining.
