For one, I noticed in my old review I…read moreclaim they carry Nike's 6.0 line of sneakers but not Nike SB: that has now changed, and they do carry Nike SB and are the only store in the region to do so. They have most of the SB line over at their skate shop next to Possum Creek Skatepark, which is only logical since SB stands for skateboarding, but they have a couple models at the main 13th Street location, also. They also carry sneakers by Vans, DVS, Fallen, and a couple other skate-oriented brands. Their selection of sandals is legion and includes Reef--like, really a lot of different models of Reef. Pretty much anything you could want. The second reason for writing this review is to note that Freeride, despite being an indie store, actually often has lower prices on things like boardshorts and sandals than chain stores like PacSun. You'd think it should be the other way around, that the big chains could afford better discounts, but I've picked up a pair of boardshorts here that were around $55 when the MSRP was about $65. Don't expect everything to be that great a deal, but know that they will not be more expensive, at least, and may in fact be less-expensive than mall stores. The owner, plus the young couple who run the day to day operations of the store, are really chill and all the staff are pretty cool. They won't try to sell you something but are more than willing to help and are also able to do so. We're fortunate in Gainesville to have a surf shop of this caliber, seriously.

Once we picked out a few pieces Diane helped us into the dressing room, gave honest, dead on advice and brought more pieces that augmented our selections. She stayed beyond closing, never once mentioning we were keeping her. In the end I got two hats, two swim tops and a bottom I could use with both tops. My mom got a coverup. Pricing was actually very reasonable, although there were some high end lines. Diane was worth her weight in gold. Will go there again next year when we are back in town.

There was a swimsuit situation in my family so we looked up available options. Bikini Co. popped up and they were open on Sunday! Yay! We headed there as soon as they opened at 11. Leah greeted us immediately and asked about sizes. She showed us how the racks were organized & sized and I was surprised she had so many options available. They have so many styles to choose from whether you're looking for something that's barely there or a swimsuit that offers more full coverage. Even the bra size tops are available for the fullest figures. We all tried on at least 5 suits that fit well and had a tough time deciding between which ones to purchase!! Even when we found a top that worked but couldn't find a matching bottom, Leah helped us find bottoms that would coordinate and look great with the tops. We've had bad luck in the past with purchasing suits online (ugh) or trying on for hours and giving up after being discouraged. The experience changed our outlook on swimsuit shopping and showed us that the experience can be enjoyable. Next time we need new suits, I know exactly where we'll be heading. They carry a huge range of sizes *in the store!!* that you can usually only find online, with bands from 28 to 46 and cups A through L. Schedule a same-day appointment and you will be sized by an employee that knows bras like the back of their hand. Even if you've been professionally fitted before, this will still be better--I was previously a loyal customer of Soma because they were the closest store that carried large cup sizes in a small band size, but found out today that I am in fact two band sizes smaller than I thought. I received individual attention and left feeling taken care of and comfortable that my purchase was worth every dollar I spent. Every time I pointed out that an otherwise perfect fit rubbed in one place or dug in at another, I was handed another option to try on and the problem was solved. My fitter made up a customer profile for me, with notes on what size I was in each brand and style, and even set up a wishlist in my account of the items that I couldn't afford today but will definitely be coming back for. I also appreciated that I was not upsold in any way--I received a full hour of individual attention (YMMV on busier days) and was not pressured to buy anything more than the one bra I left with, except for a gentle suggestion to buy a bottle of budget-friendly lingerie soap to extend the life of my bra. In addition to regular bras, Lion's Lair also carries sports bras and bikini tops in an equally broad size range, alongside men's & women's underwear, swimwear, and an assortment of charming gifts.
