We visited the pines on a Monday lunch time while passing through Ironwood. Overall, it was just fine! The coffee was actually very good. The waitress was SO nice and she was on top of things. She was the only service staff and it wasnt a slow lunch day. Great job to her! The food was fine, we had breakfast items. I saw in the review on yelp that there are many vegetarian options.... Well that isnt at all true. There are salads and omelets/eggs/pancakes and that was about it. I had the veggie omelet and I appreciated the fact that the veggies were fresh, they definitely could have been cooked a bit more. Plus there was no cheese and I had asked if there was cheese included. Still tasted good and there was a decent sour dough toast. So overall fine. The country skillet was excellent though the sausage patties were overdone but the gravy made up for it. Smoked brisket hash was really tender, wish the potatoes had been peeled but very flavorful. Each dish we ordered was absolutely delicious and done exactly as it should! Really impressive and it set our day to right tone and mood! Busy! Busy! Expect to wait on a Sunday morning. The blond lady that seated us was super friendly. The food was pretty tasty. Pancakes are not the nasty bulk crap you get elsewhere. I added blueberries, they loaded it up! Eggs benadict was the one to beat at the table. Sausage not so great. Dark haired waitress never came to check on us and unless you are a regular, she didn't even see if I needed more coffee. She kept asking all other tables, did ask when we had finished our food. Came by for breakfast the day before leaving town and the food was so good. I got the Pines Skillet and the hollandaise sauce on it was really good. Only issue I had was I asked for over easy eggs and they were more over medium... but that could have been because of the sauce. The server was really good. read more

5 Star Alert! During our visit to Ironwood, we managed to the iconic and vintage home of Pines Cafe! This open dining floor and service area is a stellar example of what home-cooked meals are made of, literally! Pines cafe skillet is an absolute bomb shell with their amazing Hollandaise sauce! I splurged on the massive 3 buttermilk biscuits n gravy. Oh man, they do put the buttermilk in these biscuits! Tremendous service and a blissful experience! We came back the next day! read more

My husband and I were starving as we rolled into Ironwood early afternoon. The Pines came up on our Yelp app and, whenever we're presented with "breakfast anytime," we decide to hit it. Now, I'm not 100% sure it's breakfast *anytime* but they do at least serve it until 1pm, when we rolled in. The place is charming. Very "upnorth" woodsy diner vibe. The kind of place we LOVE when we're on the move through smaller towns. The bar seating is awesome and I was half tempted to pull up a stool but in the end we opted for a comfy booth. Excellent diner fare. My husband ordered the ham and cheese omelet. I got the eggs and ham. It came with a HUGE ham steak, two eggs, hashed-browns, and the option of pancakes vs. toast (which is ALWAYS selected if I'm given the choice). Potatoes were crispy, eggs were cooked perfectly over easy, and the pancakes were fluffy AF. Coffee was hot and kept coming thanks to our awesome waitress. Waitstaff here is fantastic. We asked for some recommendations of things to see as we passed through town and several of the staff members came over to chime in. Looks very regular heavy, which is awesome. They also serve ice cream via the counter. Saw a few kids walking out with cones. Lovely! Would definitely return. read more

Cash or check only y'all, but there's an ATM in back if you're like me and don't carry cash or checks. I wasn't sure what to expect, I walked into an outdated, but homey cafe. There were a few tables filled with locals chatting away. I was greeted quickly and told to choose a table. The employees were all so friendly. Any server walking by would top off my coffee, and ask how I was doing. I ordered the steak and eggs, it was about $8.99. Cheap, but then I factor in the ATM fees...boooo. My 5 ounce ribeye steak had great seasoning, but it was quite chewy. Sunny side up eggs were perfect, and my hash browns were crunchy. I had a choice of pancakes, toast, or a biscuit. I had the biscuit and it was fluffy and buttery. Overall, good place for a quick breakfast with some friendly folks. Just remember to bring cash. read more

Our group of 12 stopped here on the way to Munising and discovered a gem of a place for our road trip lunch. We had no idea where to eat but stopped in a downtown beauty shop and got good advice from the friendly beautician and her customer. Ironwood has much small town charm and thanks to our lovely Pines Cafe server, we got a quick dose of it. I had a delicious 3 egg veggie omelette with crispy hash browns and a biscuit. You can have breakfast all day at this place! Portions are large and your meal won't break the bank. This is an old school diner with a map on the wall where you can add a pin to your home town. There are pins located all over the world. They also have an old wooden treasure chest filled with toys for kids to enjoy while they're there. Our waitress told us about how the cute regular toddlers immediately run to the treasure chest when they arrive. There is a kitschy wooden carved bear in the corner that gives a whimsical touch to the old fashioned charm. One of the locals offered to take a photo of our group and others weighed in on where we should go to get maps and take another outside group photo. The Pines Cafe is THE PLACE in Ironwood! We tried this on a whim (and admittedly, our usual spot was closed unexpectedly), and were both extremely pleased! Plenty of seating available at the (end of April), the waitress was prompt and attentive without being overbearing, excellent food quality and flavor. The only thing that detracted was a very strong musty smell when you first walk in, not sure if it was soaked carpeting or what the issue was but we got used to it and enjoyed our meal very much. Restaurant is part of adorable hotel. Love this place! We special ordered their cookies that take like heaven! Mixture of butter cookies with mini chocolate chips. We ordered 2 dozen to take home with us. Delicious fresh bakery items daily along with great coffee/latte selections. My brother stayed here with his wife while visiting our father in the next town over (Hurley). We came down to eat at the restaurant for breakfast. We loved the friendly staff, and food was delicious. We had grilled muffins with maple butter (yum yum yum) French toast in a skillet, steak and eggs, biscuits and gravy....to name a few items. They have a mini arcade downstairs, great area to send the kiddies to play. There is also a super cool bunker room to rent for large families to stay in. Sleeps 6 people with 2 bathrooms, tv area room, and kitchen, and is less than $130 to stay the night. Next time my brother comes up to ski with buddies they are staying in the large bunker room. My brother and his wife and young son enjoyed their stay in the hotel and would stay here again. We loved the bakery items so much we are stopping in our way out of town to order more cookies to go (call about an hour or so ahead of time and they will bake them fresh and ready for you to pick up...about .50 cents a cookie I think). read more
