Pine room is in my top 5 of Louisville Restaurants. Never had a disappointing meal here. The interior is so cute and has such a great atmosphere. Love when we catch the live piano player as well. It's cozy inside, but feels luxurious in a fun and bright twist. Food is awesome! I've had so many great meals. The cauliflower is so good, even my kids beg for it. Service is always great, but you have got to get reservations! Brunch is also really good, but they stopped doing that for a while during COVID and I'm not sure if they have brunch hours anymore. read more

My mom and her best friend go here on a weekly basis and always rave about it. So finally I went with them, my fiance and 14 yr old son. I didn't order an entree myself as I had already eaten, but did order a cocktail thay was well made, light and very refreshing. I don't recall the name but it had like, blueberry and ginger beer, served in a copper mule cup. Three of the five of us got the fried chicken and all stopped their plates. My boyfriend said the black pepper biscuit was amazing. The table shared the nachos - some of the prettiest nachos I've ever seen with thinly sliced radish and pickled cabbage. Even my boyfriend, who is a very picky eater, said they were the best nachos he's ever had. I shared the donut dessert with my son and it was delicious. What had the makings of a diamond in the rough restaurant, we visited Pine Room with high hopes. Unfortunately, A national chicken wing and beer cheese shortage left much to be desired. I almost feel like I just watched a 3.5 hour sporting event where no one scored.. or even attempted a shot. I don't know much about the sport of cricket, but it kind of feels like I just watched that. Now I will admit there were some positive attributes that came of our experience. The aesthetic of the restaurant was a nice classy-coastal vibe, the cocktails were solid, and the piano guy absolutely stole the show. However, Louisville has plenty of upscale dining that actually stocks all of their limited menu items past 8:00 on a Saturday. If you only have 5 appetizers on the menu, maybe it's best to try and keep them stocked. Chicken wings, gone. Beer cheese? You wish. Oh you're entree comes with a nice southern biscuit? Actually no here's a sliced baguette that we tossed in the toaster. Oh your entree comes with Parmesan Pomme Frites? Well the bus-boy just came back from break with McDonald's fries and didn't eat them all, so here you go. Like mashed potatoes? Yeah I bet you do, here's the boxed version that probably doesn't actually come from a real potato, but we'll make sure to leave all the cardboard taste for your pleasure. I will say the burger was actually quite good, that's the only food item that didn't received complaints from around the table. We will not be back. Too many places to go in Louisville, bring back the Chick-Inn diner and call it a day. At least that way we'd have some wings. read more

Treated a friend to a birthday dinner and neither of us were disappointed. My martini was quite slow coming to the table, but was the only service flaw. Simple salad was chopped a bit too much (almost diced), but tasty nonetheless. Both my friend and I had the buttermilk fried chicken thigh. Great cut of the bird and prepared well. Sides braised greens and mashed potatoes paired well. The sauce served with the chicken tasted vaguely of sween-and-sour. Desserts were Tres Leches cake and Panna Cotta. Both delicious. Wow! Food was fantastic and the service was top of line. I had the breakfast burrito which was phenomenal. The pico, avocado and crispy tortillas were great together. My wife had the Kentucky plate with eggs bacon and hash browns. My daughter had the pancake with fruit. It was the thickest pancake I've ever seen. It was fantastic too. If you're tired of the restaurants in Louisville that are seemingly all the same, drive 15 minutes and find the pine room. I have been twice, once for brunch and once for dinner. I will break down the review between both meals. Before sharing those experiences, understand that the decor is unmatched, and takes you away from the same Louisville "southern" vibe everyone wants to achieve. They have attempted to be different, and have succeeded. The staff is very friendly and accommodating to menu requests. At this moment, everyone is new and hasn't really tried menu items so they weren't able to speak to some drink mixes, or dishes. That doesn't stop me from trying new things! The dinner offers classic menu items at affordable prices. The vibes, staff, and overall experience makes up for the prices in my opinion. The building itself isn't a makeshift rehab, so it could be why prices are higher. I ordered the burger, and it was juicy, tasty, simple, and filling. Brunch might be better than the dinner. I ordered the breakfast burrito (pictured). It was crunchy and soft, sweet and savory, and very filling. They do not skimp on portions here. I ordered the michalada drink with my coffee. It is spicy, not for those who are spicy sensitive. Overall, the menu is predictable dishes you've heart of with a nice twist. The food is filling and portions are kind. We loved this restaurant. Went there for a nice family dinner. The atmosphere was great. We loved that it wasn't too noisy despite being busy. Food was incredible. We love this place! The squash croquettes were amazing with a nutty satisfying texture. My husband got a drink with egg whites and it was the perfect combination of alcohol slightly sweet and fruity. This used to be the old Chick Inn, for those who remember that restaurant. This is a huge upgrade to the interior compared to the casual joint before. I loved the decor. The parking lot wasn't very well lit and I parked far away. Personally it should be better lit so you can see anyone coming and going. I was alone and didn't like how I couldn't see well. The service was ok. I appreciated her punctuality. I really enjoyed the fried chicken. I could do without the cauliflower purée. It was very bland. However this is where The Pine Room get a 2 star review. My bill was $31.47. I left a $6 tip. Total $37.47. However the next day my bank cleared the bill for $39.47. Granted it's only $2, I'm not worried about that. But I called multiple times an left messages to have someone call me back and I never got a single response. I asked the friends that were in my group to see if their bill was for the right amount. We ended up figuring it out, no thanks to The Pine Room. The waitress put my tip amount on my friend ticket and her tip amount in my ticket. She noticed hers was for $2 less. So my frustration with this is, they don't even care to rectify a problem with their customers and this was dealing with the customers money. Clearly it wasn't important to them. Which makes me give a 2 star. I'm not worried about $2, but it's the principle. If your employee isn't ringing up tickets right this should be a concern to them. But clearly it's not. Thankfully for me it was just out on my friends ticket so we didn't worry about it. But what if it's for a larger amount? Be careful going here. It's bad business. I'd like to update my review. Since posting this I've received a nice phone call from the manager who was very apologetic. To go above and beyond he even refunded me for the entire bill. I certainly wasn't looking for this outcome but it's shows a level of service that I'll stand behind. I appreciate him reaching out and making things right. I had bad experiences at other restaurants and the way management handles those situations determines the final outcome of that experience. So thank you for reaching out and apologizing. Louisville being the melting pot it is, has new spots opening left and right, however, this place made a very positive impact and did not disappoint! Despite going for an early dinner, the Pine Room was packed (I would highly recommend a reservation, we had one). The service was kind and had an extensive knowledge over the menu and it's items. It's such a charming place from the road that we finally made a last minute reservation for dinner. It's even more charming inside! The cocktails are stellar. We ordered the squash croquettes (nice and crisp,but couldn't tell it was squash), special burrata salad of the day (yummy), pasta bolognese (very different but not bad) and shrimp Po boy which was nice. The stand out was the Cherry pie. Oh my. I don't often eat desserts but it was well worth the 20 minute wait. Gave us more time to drink in the super cute atmosphere and finish our lovely cocktails and fantastic wine by the glass. Great service, too. I'll be going back to fine tune my ordering. The potential this restaurant has is amazing. Gorgeous property and not a decoration out of place. Super clean and everything that deserves a great review. However, I can extend more than 2 stars after trying the food. 1) baked cheese was an appetizer that was a strange flavor with the stuff they put on top. Some sort of sweet and Smokey chutney 2) my wife has the steak. Sever said it's about 6oz which we were ok with and expecting for $39 a great piece of beef. It wasn't; strangest texture ever with a medium cook in the center but the outside was tough and gummy almost. Fat never rendered.. almost as if they didn't have a hot enough. Literally they sprinkled kosher salt on top. Literally the worst steak we have had in a LONG time. It was served with a bed of lettuce that was light on dressing. It also came with fries that were super bland. Frozen no doubt. Could have been great. 3) I had the shrimp and grits which was good ($14), not great but worth it at $14.00. Average flavors with great sized shrimp. The gravy was luke warm with a slight layer of cooling gravy. Again; didn't seem hot enough. The desserts sounded and looked great on another table but we weren't interested as more concerned on average flavors. We just were so excited to visit here as it looks adorable and super quaint. Craft Drinks are good and nice open bar. A little loud but with great food that's easy to overlook. Unfortunately the food seems to be a big short coming. Wish they would take off the "fancy" and stick w burgers, fried chicken, fresh cut fries, easy pastas and simpler salads... hoping improvement of quality comes.. read more

I left the restaurant feeling like I needed a gallon of water. The ugly: our waitress. It could have been they were short staffed or she is brand new to waitressing, but she was not efficient. It took her 5 minutes of walking by our table to help others before she even acknowledged us. So bad that we didn't order an appetizer because we didn't want our meal experience to be hours long. Food was out prompt but there was little follow up. She didn't bring me a refill of my soda when asked and it took forever to get the check after she removed our dinner plates. Ok place. The Pine Room has quickly become one of our local favorites here in Louisville. The wait staff and Steven are always very friendly and helpful, and the cocktails and food never disappoint! If we are coming last-minute, we will often sit at the bar and it's always so fun to talk to the bartender and try new drinks. If we are at a table, every single server we have had has been excellent and friendly. The burger and fried chicken are some of our favorites in Louisville. The donut fritters are out of this world. Went last night for dinner and all I can say its the most overpriced place. I don't mind paying a premium of the ingredients fit the price but trying to charge high end prices while providing cheap frozen food and trying to pass it off as high end. Had the shrimp over grits app and nachos.. I could tell nothing about either fish was fresh.. I've seen them using the excuse that we are working out the bugs just give us time... that's a pretty sad excuse. The Sirloin is 30+ dollars for the smallest dry piece of steak. Only complaint is size of portions. Needlessly small with all entrees. Husband ordered fried chicken and received one piece.
