The Pine Room was a lovely spot to celebrate a couple of family birthdays. We opted for outside seating and they seated us on the covered patio, which was lovely. The shades for the sun and the ceiling fans made it very comfortable. Our server was lovely and very sweet and accommodating. My mom called ahead to ask about us bringing a cake since I had previously purchased a cake from Rawnaissance before plans changed to dining out. They said we were welcome to bring it and they could even store it in the fridge for us and serve it after our meal. They did just that and even found a candle to put in one of the slices. Among our party, we had a shrimp po' boy, grain bowl with chicken, mushroom tacos, and fried chicken. Everything was very tasty. I really liked their skinny fries. I wanted to love this as we celebrated our wedding anniversary here recently and I had looked forward to giving it a try. The food was good (I had eaten one of the best burgers I have ever had), I'm sure the cocktails would have been wonderful but, while mine arrived promptly, my husband waited nearly 40 minutes for his before finally getting our server's attention to request a beer instead. The service went down hill from there. At one point, I raised my hand for a time to ask for some ice cream to accompany the delicious but dry fritter donuts before giving up on the effort. When the server finally checked in, the bill came at lightening speed; adding insult to injury on the service front. So, for ambiance and decor I give 5 stars. For food flavor, 4.5 stars. My husband and I visited my sister and her fiance in Louisville a few weeks ago and they suggested the Pine Room for our dinner destination! There is a great attached parking lot with plenty of space for all patrons. The inside decor is very "pine-y" using shades of green & white and has a unique cozy but crisp atmosphere. They have a great drink list with inventive cocktails that are beautifully prepared, with beer and wine as well. We started with an appetizer of crispy artichokes and they were great! Definitely a good ratio of artichoke and crispiness. For my entree I had the sweet potato falafel which is a little misleading because it was under the "sandwiches" heading, but was not served with bread, but in lettuce cups with a little slaw and a few slices of cucumber. The falafels were good, though not as filling as what I was expecting. Our host and waiter were both great as well! I would absolutely recommend the Pine Room and look forward to my next visit! read more

The decor on the inside and out suggest that you are just off a beach, very cute. Not overly oceany but classic. We got the nachos and were pleasantly surprised with the amount that you got. All the food for dinner was fantastic as well. We had the pork chop and raviolis. Kudos to the designers on this project. So we stepped in with reservations and had some wine before dinner. The list was pretty solid. The wines by the glass tasted pretty fresh as if they weren't sitting around too long. Huge plus. A lot of restaurants don't bother keeping tabs on the by the glass program. Appetizers were pretty solid. We kept it simple with the fries and brussels. Some complimentary cheese type crackers were given to us but they were kind of weird and not very good. The entrees were just ok. Pork chop was overcooked, yet garnished nicely and tasted good. The burger was truly the best thing of the night. It was perfect. The pappardelle was really sad. It was soggy and had no flavor at all. It was also a super small portion. The fried chicken was pretty solid besides it sitting in a deep bed of what I imagined to be a hot sauce and butter type of mix. It would have been better on the side because it was truly soaked in it. Overall, I liked the service and how nice it looked. If you haven't been to the Pine Room for brunch, you have missed out. Decided to check out the Pine Room today at the last minute, and they had a ton of brunch reservations open. Shocking considering how quickly brunch places fill up in Louisville, but I think this place flies under the radar due to the location. But honestly, it was a less than 10 minute drive from our house. It's not far, people. Don't let the location scare you. It's located in the old Chick-Inn location, for all of you old-school Louisvillians. They have remade it into an adorable spot with the cutest wrap around porch for outside dining. Our group ordered grapefruit mimosas that were served just the way a mimosa should be, mostly Prosecco with a splash of grapefruit. We started with an order of donut fritters for the table, which are covered in cinnamon sugar and come with a sorghum apple butter and oat crumble. If you don't order these, you're doing it wrong. They are coated in a buttery cinnamon sugar mix and incredibly fluffy while also being buttery, which is a hard balance to keep. They literally melt in your mouth. Unbelievably delicious and I would come back just for those alone. We all ordered a different version of the Kentucky or California plate. Simple, but all perfectly cooked. My eggs, over easy, came out hot with the perfect runny yolk center. The toast is stupid delicious. Toast is usually something thrown on to a plate as an afterthought, but not at Pine Room. It's crispy and pre-buttered and I'm pretty sure they grilled it. The nice dude who was helping our server (sorry, didn't catch your name) brought us some decent strawberry jam to accompany it. The side of hash we shared was less hash-y and more roasted potatoes, but equally delicious and covered in cheese. Overall it was exactly what you wanted from an uncomplicated brunch menu: simple and cooked perfectly. Our service was super attentive but unobtrusive which is exactly what you want at brunch. There was time to relax and linger but we never felt abandoned. Kudos to our server, Heather, for knowing exactly when she was needed. Overall, honestly the best brunch experience I've had in awhile in Louisville. Part of me hopes you'll visit for brunch, part of me selfishly hopes it will remain a hidden gem! I will be back for dinner - and many a future brunch. Until then, I will dream of the donut fritters. read more

Been here a few times but it's overpriced with poor menu diversity. $34 gets you one piece of chicken, an ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes, bitter nearly inedible greens, a small salad with only Parmesan or vinaigrette, (not even ranch) and a chunk of tasteless bread. No gravy, no butter, no options. You get what get. At Our Best Restaurant, for $15, you get 3 pieces of your choice of tasty chicken, 3 scoops of mashed potatoes or a loaded baked, tons of gravy, tasty cornbread or buns, large salad with a real choice of dressings. No comparison, and Louisville folks need to take a drive in the country. read more

I have been driving by the Pine Room since moving to Prospect, for 5 months or so... After running a few errands my wife said: "Why don't we try the Pine Room?"...... So off we went... We arrived around 7 on a Thursday. I found one of the two open parking spaces... As the parking lot foretold, the restaurant was packed. Always a good sign. A quick glance around the dining room revealed several large groups... and the bar was full as well...After a short wait, we were seated at a small table for two. The menu is limited compared to most places I have eaten, but the selections all looked very appealing... I decided on a Shrimp Poor Boy with my wife selecting Bolanase... Both dishes were very good. The young lady that was serving us did an excellent job, as well as the water boy... One important observation, they take reservations and I recommend making one because from what I observed, their table turnover is an hour plus....... So if you get there and they are full with no reservation, you may have a long wait. We were lucky, we got the last open table for over an hour... read more

Let me say that the artichokes were AMAZING! The rest of the experience was a bit of a disappointment. My spouse had the Shrimp Po boy and I had the grain bowl with grilled chicken. His shrimp was oversalted and my chicken was dry. Our waiter, Aaron, wasn't attentive. Normally, I would understand if he were slammed, but he was not. I was hopeful for the dessert of donut fritters but it fell short. The glorified donut holes were dry. Not once did Aaron ask if we enjoyed our meal even when only 1 out of 6 of the donuts were eaten. It's a shame as it was an anticipated visit. read more

Truly exceptional! My husband and I really have only started wading back into dining at restaurants after getting vaccinated. The Pine Room was a great place to go as someone who's still a bit nervous being out and about. I'm sure it'll change soon as the governor loosens restrictions, but when we were there (5/21/21), tables were well spaced, everyone was masking when away from their tables, etc. Our server, Chelsea, took great care of us. The food was outstanding. Cauliflower appetizer - light crunch, sticky glaze. I had the burger (comes with fries), and my husband had the mussels from the appetizer menu with a side of broccoini. Both were just really well done - husband said the mussels were about the best he's ever had, and he's had a lot because if he sees them on a menu, he gets them Dessert - panna cotta, which I will always get if I see it on a menu. Theirs was outstanding - buttermilk panna cotta, a small scoop of raspberry sorbet, a quenelle of softly whipped cream, and a bit of granola. The contrast in flavors and textures was so fun. Saving the best for last, though - the cocktail menu at The Pine Room is OUT OF THIS WORLD. I started with a Clover Club, then moved on to a Sold, and finished with a paloma. The Sold was magical - a combination of coconut and floral (mainly lavender) that I had never had before. Wow. This is a must visit if you're in the Louisville area. I was staying out by the airport and glad I made the drive. Outstanding service. Engaging, friendly and charming. We had the cauliflower to start. Perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with a bit of spice. I went with the grain bowl with grilled salmon. The bowl was flavorful and plentiful. The salmon was a bit over cooked and slightly dry but had good flavors from the seasoning. I also had the Panna cotta. Lite and creamy. Perfect with a glass of Pinot noir. By far the swankiest 3-star restaurant in Louisville! Fairly certain they were out of 1/4 of the items on their menu and despite the expansive cocktail menu couldn't make a gimlet? If you want the full Menu you apparently need to be prepared to make ressies before the silver haired prospectors at 5 o'clock!! Sure, they absolutely have a beautiful Resturant, and a nice selection of cocktails! The piano guy was also nice, until he left.... No pretzel bread, No chicken wings, and apparently No biscuits for the fried chicken- which was every bit as good as KFC!! (at least we were told the first two items where not available instead of getting a dish with substitutes - Surprise!) Let's face it, there are a lot great restaurants in Louisville without frozen French fries, mash taters from a bag and chicken as good as Lee's, charging 30$ a head.... If you don't really care (about any of it), live in prospect, or have incredibly low standards/expectations, heck, you'll love this place! Came back to dine on the porch, but we decided it was too warm. And we even ordered the same entrees as last time because we enjoyed them so much. But we did try the appetizers and desserts this time. The Pine is great at everything! The Brussels sprouts were awesome and the shishito peppers were great too. The desserts were heavenly. The bread pudding was beautiful. The bread was slightly crispy yet light and airy inside with a delicious sauce. I highly recommend it. Also loved the cookie with the vanilla ice cream, sorry I don't remember the name for it. If you like toffee or brittle, this is better! That perfect burnt butter, sugar, nut combo taste and the ice cream was lovely. We were told that the menu is changing soon. We ate at The Pine Room after being told by several people what a cool place it was. The atmosphere is nice and the decor is beautiful! The staff was friendly upon our arrival even after we got there late due to some car problems! So thank you for that. The reason for the two stars is that we were so disappointed with the food. We got the nachos and those were pretty bad to be honest. The chips tasted cheep and store bought. I got the goat cheese ravioli and my husband got the shrimp po boy sandwich. Both came out stone cold. We couldn't even ask for new food because our waitress was out talking to another table for about 20 minutes and also forgot about our wine that I specifically asked for with dinner. All in all, we had a good date together but felt really disappointed and cheated of a good meal and spend $100 on a dinner that we didn't enjoy after so many recommendations read more

The server was pleasant, although she did not bring me the correct dish initially. She did however correct the error. What I was disappointed in was the food. Every dish ordered had some strange tastes going on. The combination of spices and flavorings was off. The quality of the ingredients seemed to be good, but whoever is making decisions on the flavorings and spices has some work to do. For example, I ordered a Caesar salad and the dressing was so spicy, I could not eat it. I ordered the pork chop dish, but the pork chop had a very strange sauce on it that completely ruined the dish. Louisville has a deficit of good privately run restaurants. Love the cozy coastal ambiance of The Pine Room. We started off with the fried artichoke hearts - right out of the fryer with just the right crispiness and a tasty dipping sauce. For the main course, we tried the buttermilk fried chicken and the steak. The fried chicken was delicious served with a type of honey hot sauce over puréed/mashed cauliflower and a piece of thick cornbread with a hint of sweetness. While the cauliflower is a healthier option, I would have preferred a more traditional mashed potato side. The presentation of the steak wasn't my favorite- it was served already sliced and while it was a quality piece of meat- I found it a little bland. The french fries were excellent! read more

My wife , friends and family have enjoyed the Pine room on numerous occasions since its opening. Reservations, walk in table service (they reserve several tables for walk ins) or bar service are exceptional. Jeremy and associates at the bar are the top mixologists in town, best drinks around hands down. When we dine as a couple we prefer being at the bar. The menu has standards but has seasonal changes. We have never had a bad meal on 20+ occasions. it is a short menu, which puts some people off ,but I would rather have a short menu that is executed flawlessly than a 8 page menu that consistently fails. Great fish (love the salmon), great steaks (NY strip special tonight),outstanding hamburger and a shocking bolognese for a non Italian restaurant. Tasty appetizers and salads with fun deserts. This was our first time dining here. We arrived at 12:30 with brunch being served until 2:00 on Sundays. Our server was prompt, courteous, and willing to please. I ordered the Breakfast Burrito. It was absolutely fantastic! My daughter had the Kentucky Plate and loved it as well. The restaurant is pleasing to the eye. There is seating indoors, outdoors, and at the bar. My only complaint was that it was too quiet. A little background music would take care of that. I'll definitely be back! read more
