The owner and the other diners were all very friendly, and they gave us, two Chinese travelers just passing through, plenty of warm greetings and kind attention. I especially want to emphasize how clean the place was. The forks and knives were wrapped in napkins and even sealed with a sticker. It was a very standardized and thoughtful practice that immediately made us feel reassured. As for the food, I personally thought the salad was very good and a nice option for keeping calories under control. I ordered the fried cod and fries -- probably a mistake on my part, since I had simply wanted some seafood -- and for a moment it almost made me feel like I was back in the UK. My companion ordered the steak medium rare. As Chinese diners, we are not particularly used to meat cooked that way, but we still finished it. The quality of the meat was good, though it was a little too fatty for us. That is one of those things a typical Chinese stomach can sometimes struggle with. The whole place had a warm, lived-in vibe. The menu said the restaurant had been around since 2001, so that makes 25 years now. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get the food bc I had dinner plans, but I did stay for a couple drinks. They have a great selection of spirits and cocktail specials. My friend got a tequila sunrise, so I followed suit. The pour was quite generous, I must say, and I'm def not complaining. The drink was smooth, with the perfect amount of tequila and sweetness. The bartenders working were both friendly and sociable. The vibe was relaxed and is a great alternative when things get too crazy at the dam. While I only got drinks, I'll for sure be back.
