What: cat cafe. This was our first cat cafe. Price: 30 minutes for $6.47 per person or you can book more time. Book your admission on their website. Ambiance: when you walk in, the entrance area has the cafe where you check in and can buy coffee, tea and vegan baked treats. You then walk into a small room to remove your coat and shoes. Then you carefully enter the next main room so that you don't let any cats out. There's are also two small rooms for the cats to do their business and eat/be alone. There were several cats (about 14?) and comfy seats and lots of lounge and climbing areas for the cats. There's also lots of cat toys. The cats are available for adoption! We enjoyed the experience. Tip: follow the posted rules!

The Pawsitive Cafe is a cat cafe which houses many adoptable cats from six local rescue groups. Three resident cats live there as well and aren't up for adoption. The space is brightly colored, calm, and welcoming. They serve coffee, tea, and sweets from Red Fern. The cats are definitely well cared for. There are televisions playing nature shows, lots of cat trees, beds, and toys everywhere. Cafe staff are firm but gentle with patrons about not playing with or picking up cats who aren't in the mood. The cats have spaces away from guests to use litterboxes and to go for some quiet time if they're sleepy or overstimulated. This is a fun place to destress for a bit and pet some fluffy animals. And maybe adopt if you're looking for a pet! They have found homes for 66 cats since opening a year ago. My one issue with Pawsitive Cafe is that it isn't accessible. I have a sprained ankle and I had to climb steep stairs to get in. If they do have an accessible entrance, it wasn't obvious.

Love cats, kittens, good coffee, and treats? This place has them in abundance. There's a cafe in front with seating, tasty vegan goodies from Red Fern, and a huge cat play area in the back. The atmosphere is spacious yet cozy, with plenty of soft couches and colorful decor. For the kitties there are toys, beds, and lots of perches. It's a haven for anyone who wants to play with kittens & cats without having to clean a litterbox. Yes, it's heaven on earth. My son had his 8th Birthday party here today. It was our second time here and the owners were extremely helpful, welcoming, and easy to communicate with. We kept the party small (5 people) in the interest of the kitties comfort. They let us use the cafe space and were SUPER attentive to our needs. We opened the presents in the cat area and the kitties definitely approved of the empty bags. I can't wait to go back again!

Besides coffee and snacks, there are other things for sale like stickers, mugs, cards, and jewelry. We did the pumpkin painting event and paid $12 which included 2 mini pumpkins, painting supplies, and time in the cat room. The cats get along amazingly well for how many are in there together (maybe 10?). There may be some hisses or swats between cats, but as a cat owner I'll tell you that is completely normal. We pet them in between our pumpkins drying. The cats come from two different rescue groups and all are up for adoption except for Michael, who is the owner's cat. This is a great place for animal lovers to support local rescues and play with cats.

If you've ever been to a cat cafe, the experience is universal: book your appointment in advance, arrive on time, and go in when you're told to. The Friendly Feline is new and as such, it was easy to book an appointment. Walk ins are possible, but I'd recommend an appointment just to make your life easier. My mom and I got there a few minutes early to check in, and once it was our time, we were given a timer that indicated where we were in our hour. Then we went inside! There were five cats in residence that day, and there is a list of guidelines on the wall (basically, don't piss off the cats and use common sense). We sat down with a few toys and a laser pointer and waited for the cats to come to us. Overall, the cats were friendly but happy to let you know when they were over it and ready to walk away. The hour floated by and in that time, we were visited by all of the cats, with one even hopping up on the couch. There were three of the five that I felt were extra friendly and those cats circled around for extra attention. We had a great time at the Friendly Feline and I'd absolutely go back, even though Greece isn't exactly next door. It's never a bad thing to have more cat cafes and that means more cats find their forever homes sooner than they might have without cafe patrons having a good time.

While there the vets found he had gastroenteritis, an ear infection and significant weight loss. Unnoticed by me at his adoption, he was improperly vaccinated and was not protected by the mandatory vaccinations all cats should have. After informing them of Orion's hospital stay and what happened, Toe Beans made the choice to tell me that the tests/diagnostics the vet did were unnecessary and that I should've just called them if I was having concerns about Orion's health. They are NOT a veterinary clinic. They also made the choice to assume the vets were incorrect about the improper vaccinations and tried to frame that as the vets trying to get more money out of me, I confirmed with 2 different vets that Orion was incorrectly vaccinated according to the records I received at his adoption and that he would need to be restarted on the vaccination schedule. Toe Beans attempted to gaslight me about what I was told at Orion's adoption, I was told he was quarantined for "mild sneezing" but was assured it would "pass in a few day" and that it was nothing to worry about by the employee assisting in his adoption. There was no mention of a suspected illness/infection or mentions of him having diarrhea at the adoption. There was no mention of any current ongoing medical treatment at his adoption, and I was not sent home with any type of medication for him. All I received was his ppaer work, a bag of dry food, a can of wet food, a blanket for his carrier, and assorted treats and toys. As evidenced by previous reviews ear infections are commonly missed at this facility and based on my experience they do not review medical records thoroughly enough before placing cats in a group environment. It has also come to my attention that upon receiving their cats they do not take them for any type of vet assessments as the only medical records I received were from when he was still in the Cayman Islands. They only take the cats to the vet when something is noticeably different, a risk when you don't know a cats personality as you don't know what changes to look for. Go with a reputable rescue or shelter that does regular vet visits when they receive their cats and are able to properly monitor their health. Toe Beans would rather pin all the blame on the new owner and the vets who worked to ensure the health and comfort of the cat than take accountability for their mistakes and actions. I was told on June 2nd that the rescue I adopted Orion through would reach out to me about my concerns regarding his hospitalization and the lack of care he received at Toe Beans, I have yet to be contacted by them. TLDR; Don't adopt from this cafe, they do not take care of their cats and will become extremely defensive and argumentative when confronted about this.

Some of that can be overshadowed a bit by the rather surly woman who works at the desk. I do feel bad for her as I'm sure it's not an easy job to do but it can definitely dampen the experience. Beyond the staff and volunteers, the shelter itself is depressing as hell. The two rows of kennels that face each other in the middle are intimidating to walk down and the dogs really seem to trigger each other, very stressful environment. The building needs a HUGE makeover. Also, It smells awful, even when you first walk in. I understand there are animals there but the whole lobby doesn't need to smell like urine and various other unidentifiable smells. It doesn't even smell that bad where the dogs are contained, why so gross out front? Anyway, I'd give five stars because I love our dogs so much and would def support from them again but had to take off a couple of stars because the building itself and overall mood is quite abysmal. It seemed there have been efforts lately to change that but they've got a loooong road ahead of them.

I grabbed him b/c I saw a collar but quickly noticed he had no tags. I walked up/ down my street asking if anyone recognized him - no luck. So I brought him home and gave him water and cat food (b/c I only have cats). He's a sweet boy, full of energy, I posted on FB and the local neighborhood sight (Maplewood)... I did all the things and hit all the buttons. I called 911, who dispatched Animal Control, then they advised me to bring him over to Verona Street. While there, a rude ass, tall woman with straight hair, came to the door (with the security guard) and would not allow me to leave the dog... after I was told to bring him there. She asked me who told me to bring the dog there, I asked if I could put the dog down to show her on my phone (that was at 3%) she refused - I was trying to show her the phone number on my soon-to-be dead phone - while balancing a dog. But I shouldn't be surprised this isn't the first time I've encountered RUDE ass women at Verona. If they don't like their jobs, maybe they should consider a different field. Maybe next time, I will turn a blind eye and just let the dog wander and hope that he doesn't get hit by a car. Sadly there won't be a next b/c i will not get involved as much as I love animals - - I will NOT get involved. I hope that the pup finds his family. To that RUDE woman I encountered, today... I hope you step on dog poop and drag it into your car every day until Dec. 31, 2024.
