My wife's sandwich had lots of onion and mushrooms filler. The upgraded onion strings were good though. We used to love the place but now it's just okay at best. Too bad.

The steak was terribly greasy, really small not even bite sized pieces. Then, the kicker was, they used Kraft processed slice. Technically classified as cheese, but not on. $15 sandwich! That is grilled cheese at home cheese, not eating out cheese! I couldn't even finish my sandwich due to the greasiness of the meat pieces mixed with the melting blob of chemical 'cheese'. I don't eat out nearly as often as I did a year or two ago, it's just getting too expensive. So when I do, I only spend my money on places with really good food. I have been here many times with our family and I can honestly say I've never had a thing I didn't like. The most recent time we came, I had the vegan zoodle dish and it was great! Most places don't have something to fit my super limited dietary needs, but TOC did and it was very tasty. The managing of the restaurant has been the negative part in our experience. For example, we came this past Easter with our extended family (our yearly tradition we usually look forward to), we've had a reservation for weeks, and they weren't ready with our table for 15+ minutes after our reservation time, and especially with our group having two 88 year olds, it's not comfortable or safe to make them wait that long with no table seats. When they did seat us, they gave us 1 waitress for probably 25 people, when in years past they've given us 2-3 servers (and that worked great). The server we had was over and above nice and helpful, so none of it was her fault, it was just the restaurant planning side of things that was a disappointment. Our reservations were at 1, we didn't eat till almost 3. Almost 2 full hours to get our food. Granted, it was a holiday, so I didn't take off more stars for that, but that's never happened to us before and we all left with a metaphorical bad taste in our mouths. So hopefully this was just a bad day they had, and if it was, I'd for sure come back. But if that's the new normal, I don't think I would.

We had the Baby back ribs plus two meat platter. We actually added a third meat for $4 more. Besides the baby backs, we had brisket, chopped pork, and burnt ends. All of the meats were fantastic! For sides we had the Wilbur Beans and red skin mashed potatoes, along with the pickled onions and hell fire pickles. We love them all. I love going into Dave's and walking around the restaurant looking at all of the cool vintage signs and pictures hanging on the walls. The pictures of Dave in front of all the old historic bbq joints all over the country are really cool too. Stop in at Famous Dave's in Rockford and have a great meal like we did.
