The server pulled our chairs out, the host was kind and smiley and our waitress was so down to earth. Mila the founder was also here greeting guests haha. The decor was nice, lots of flowers and girly things, my wife loved it and took pictures. The breakfast burrito was killer, the lavender lemonade while not very purple was out of this world. This will be a new staple every year when we come for the week. We look forward to next year when we will return, the locals should be very happy they can dine here whenever they want lol

Also the sign said "pancake house", and I like my pancake houses local, not international. What was going to happen here? Anything could happen. All possibilities existed at the same time. The only constraint was the menu. Oh, the menu. Dammit. I had to follow the written rules of the restaurant when ordering. It was not the free-for-all I had in mind. But that's ok. That'll do. It'll be fine. I got some delicious french toast sticks, which is a superior medium for french toast, if we are being honest. They were slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the way a gourmand would envision when thinking about french toast. Being that I was in New Jersey (and mandated by state law), I ordered pork roll as a side. It wasn't the pac-man style cut, but the little corner cuts, which I prefer (though sometimes they look like an iron cross and that can be sketchy if the place had a German flag or something). The pork roll was cooked just the way I like it. A little crust, a deep color, and piping hot. We got a plate of fruit, which was...wow, I don't even know where to begin. It was a plate of fruit, sure, but it seemed super in-season and fresh. I mean, sure, it is blueberry season, and strawberry season just ended, but both were so perfect on this plate. Staff were super friendly, even the mirrior universe Elmo outside. I'd recommend this place for anyone, but it is probably really great for families with young kids.

The place got pretty packed pretty quick but after I ate, I understood why. The coffee was decent, the service was pretty good and the food definitely hit the spot. The staff is also absolutely wonderful friendly, attentive, and they really help create a great dining experience. Unfortunately, the older woman who appears to be the owner or manager always comes across as very unwelcoming. She often seems annoyed, frustrated, or just mad at the world, and it definitely changes the atmosphere when you walk in. It's disappointing because the rest of the team works so hard and the food is truly outstanding. If it weren't for the amazing staff and excellent food, I honestly probably wouldn't return. Thankfully, they're the reason I keep giving the place another chance.

Started with some urgently needed coffee while we read the menu. I ended up getting the Lavalette special - two eggs, two pancakes, bacon, hash browns and toast (I rarely eat like this anymore so I was absolutely stuffed). Wifey ordered the Avocado Mash special. The avocado mash was seasoned perfectly with some lime and not overly salty. Toast could have been slightly more toasted, but the tomato was very good for an April tomato. Very good coffee, nothing super special, but hot and tasty. Food came quickly and was great. As I said, a cery cute place, but I bet this place is PACKED during the season. It was about half full by the time our food came so we got here just in time. Another place I'd 100% recommend.

My parents went back on their own trip and ordered a pork roll & cheese on a Kaiser roll sandwich (see pic for the ample serving size) and mentioned they had a morning/mid-day live musician serenading them while they ate outside. So fun! They offer outdoor seating and also lunch (I believe they close around 2p). Their fun and funky flavored "pressed waffles". From the Plain Jane (what we ordered) which is just a Leige Waffle dusted with powdered sugar, to the Lava Flow, topped with banana, walnuts, peanut butter, and maple syrup, there's a little something for everyone. I noticed they also have paninis made from the waffles like The Hangover which is pork roll and cheese, or The Joey which crispy bacon and cheddar cheese. Yum! We tried their sweet cream cold brew and nitro cold brew, both solid choices. We also tried something fun ~ a frozen, vanilla affogato to-go in a popsicle sleeve. Honestly so innovative for beach-goers and those that want a pick-me-up on the move. Also perfect to throw in your cooler for the shore. Our server was energetic but clearly overwhelmed, leading to minor delays. However, several more servers arrived just as we were finishing up, so the rush might just be a matter of timing their shift changes. A fantastic, budget-friendly spot for a reliable breakfast.
