Ice Cream and service is great. But how do you serve food & drink with no public restroom.

This is almost the worst I've cream experience I've ever had. I wanted really creamy ice cream. Instead, I got hard ice cream full of ice chips and watery soft ice cream full of tiny pieces of unmixed. I had ordered the dulce de leche on the bottom and soft chocolate and vanilla twist on top in a cone. But when she went to put the soft ice cream on top it came out in a circle around the edge instead of a normal ice cream swirl. And she put it on a cup, which was fine, but she went to add a swirl on top but the soft ice cream was unfinished. I told the girls that something was wrong with the ice cream and said it was having problems. I don't know why you would serve this. read more

They have bad furniture wich is supper unsafe for people and charge them when they break

We had a great breakfast here on a Sunday morning in October. Plenty of outdoor seating available. Our waitress was great and even brought out some water for the dog. 4 of us got the Harbor Island and one the Himalaya Scramble. The Harbor Island was prosciutto, egg, avocado, gruyere on a croissant. The croissant was super flaky and buttery and the sandwich delicious. The tots on the side were good as well. The Himalaya Scramble had eggs, potatoes, peppers & onions, gruyere & balsamic. It was very different for a breakfast dish and really went well together. I find it to be very affordable for the area as well. Can't wait to stop in again for lunch or dinner! read more

A group of us went to the Parlor on Grand Central Ave ( Rt 35 N ) last evening. Formerly known as Salty's, this new bistro is a great addition to the neighborhood. The new owners operate the restaurant, which serves American and Asian fusion food and the ice cream creamery which has over 25 different flavors. Snacks, sushi rolls, salads and entrees encompass this menu. Though small, with no specials available, the selections look very appetizing. And the food was excellent. We ordered bowls of lobster bisque , with large pieces of lobster immersed in it, very meaty. The sushi rolls were fresh and outstanding. Their salads are huge and delicious. And the salmon was excellent and fresh. They only serve soft drinks, so BYOB if you are inclined. read more

Walked in on a Monday. A little busy. I was at an other Lavallette establishment for dinner. The food there was excellent. I walk into this place formerly called Salty's. Washed out from hurricaine Sandy. A decade back .was here as a kid. Like everything this place had a nasty modern atmosphere to it. No one greated us. Full from the last place I asked where the bathroom was. I might as well had been talking Some other language. "I dont Know was the underage mans' reply. Well ask someone please. No bathroom. A group of us came (on 6/26) to the Parlor Creamery & Bistro based on friends who are lifelong residents of Seaside. We wanted to treat a couple who took me and my family out kayaking. This restaurant is BYOB and is a combination of Asian fusion and American food. They're also known for their ice cream. For the life me I couldn't wrap my head around it but went along and trusted our friends. We had reservations and when we arrived our table was ready right outside in front of the restaurant. Which was great. Our apps for the table were a couple of Sushi rolls. Entrees: Pasta with shrimp, pork chops, burger, salmon and ahi tuna. Our servers (young kids at least they looked it. I'm sure college students) were polite, gracious and accommodating. Overall, our food was well prepare and the service was excellent. Next time we're in the area, we will definitely visit again even if it's just for the ice cream. read more

We only tried the ice cream here so I can't speak for the food...however, the ice cream was delicious! There were so many flavors and even more options for toppings. You could get anything from sprinkles, to brownie pieces, to crushed cannoli or jelly beans! I tried the brookie blast with Nestle CRUNCH, and it was essentially a chocolate lover's dream. Every bite had an explosion of cookie dough and brownie bites. My sister tried a new flavor, sugar cookie, and she said the taste was similar to that of the animal crackers with icing. That scoop was loaded with cookie pieces and rainbow sprinkles (bit that didn't stop my sister from ordering extra sprinkles on top!) My mom had bourbon brown butter truffle, a unique flavor that I haven't seen at any of the other ice cream shops around here. We all ordered small cups, but we got heaping scoops that were almost overflowing the cup! The only downside of our visit was the service. When we arrived, there was a line out the door and into the street. After waiting about ten minutes, we still hadn't moved a step. After 20 minutes or so, it was finally our turn to order. However, the girl scooping our ice cream was very polite and gave us a ton of ice cream. read more

Seems like some of the ice cream is still from the previous season. We ordered 6 or 7 ice cream orders and some tasted icy and freezer burnt. Some containers were not filled. I ordered a hot fudge sundae with soft vanilla. I received hard ice cream with no hot fudge. I was told they don't have soft ice cream even though there was a machine in plain view. Delicious freezer-burned Hershey ice cream!!! The only good thing about this place was the variety of flavors, but they are out of literally every flavor all of the time. This is not a new issue either. This has happened numerous times in the last few years and has gone uncorrected. Chocolate? Nope. Soft serve chocolate? Machine broke. Chocolate marshmallow? All out. Black cherry? Try again. Rootbeer float? No more rootbeer. Maybe start by telling me what you DO have! How does an ice cream place run out of chocolate? Looks can be deceiving. I thought this quaint ice cream "parlour" actually was serving real homemade ice cream and with any luck, gelato. I was disappointed to find out that they serve HERSEYS ice cream (ick!). And when my 7 year ordered one scoop, and I ordered a scoop the server said 8 bucks - but wait... The young ma behind the counter said 8 dollars was only for my sons scoop! And mine would be another 7 dollars and change. After I already asked to pay for Both first. Give me a break. 2 scoops of Crap ice cream for 15 plus dollars? And to think I gave the server a tip... 2 scoops Total of HERSEYS ice cream for 15 dollars. They are out of Their mind. First restaurant that I've ever turned the meal away and gave a zero tip. Terrible service. We could not find our waitress, were promised a meal that arrived too late - to the point I turn parts away because we lost out appetite. We almost ordered pizza next store things got so desperate. When we flagged this, it wasn't addressed. In the end, the evening turned out to be a disaster because of the service. We left the Parlor in a poor mood having felt we were treated poorly and ignored. Mind you we were seated at 8:30 (not exactly rush hour) and the crowd had thinned out by 9:30. The table behind us had the same issue. Never saw or heard from management. I am surprised because they pride themselves on being a family owned and serviced driven place. Their was ample time and opportunity to turn the experience around but no effort was made. I appreciate COVID makes things a challenge but this was more than that. We had the perfect brunch here! It is a byo which is a great way to start a weekend morning. One of us did not want breakfast food and was able to order a burger at 9am. The avocado toast and omelette were both excellent! Their vibe and decor is great and everyone was so friendly. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other dishes! read more

Have been twice. Really good food in Lavallette. If you're not in the know, most places are BYOB and this is one of them.

Great little find hidden in the ice cream shop. Delicious! Empanadas were fantastic. Fresh Ricotta with Balthazar toast was amazing.

This is a new favorite! The inside of the restaurant is very nice. Our food was amazing...it's different than your typical breakfast place. The scrambler topped with balsamic was so tasty! As well as the bacon. We will be back for sure! Hoping they open for dinner soon if the breakfast tasted that good the dinners would be great!! read more

This place hits all of the marks for a feast place to have dinner and dessert. The menu is broad but not so big you can't figure out what to order. The sushi is next level made with care by a true experienced professional sushi chef who's artistic presentation makes it look as good as it tastes. The non sushi menu is crafted with thought and care and top notch. The sides and appetizers are ALL excellent. This summer I've eaten here at least 10 times and I will keep going back. The staff is nice and friendly and genuine. The selection of ice cream is HUGE and all fresh made flavors. There are many places to get coffee on the island but this place makes a great espresso and other coffee cafe drinks and you usually don't have to wait in any long lines. Stopped by during a visit to the jersey shore. We ended going 3 times. We went the first night and got 2 waffle cones with the oatmeal flavor. It was delicious. We also went back the next day for an espresso and fresh lemonade. It was fresh and delicious. The third night was had to have the oatmeal again. After hearing good things from many people, we decided to try to stop in Sunday night. We were walking around the area about 30 minutes before we had planned on dining and as we passed the restaurant we happened to notice the hostess not wearing her mask properly (nose wasn't covered). My family and I sat outside for dinner . The food was ok, and the service was horrible. They allowed patrons without a mask to enter the ice cream section of the restaurant, they should politely remind people to wear a mask inside when waiting online to order ice cream. We witnessed several people enter the place without a mask and being served Ice cream. In particular, one man who walked in to order ice cream with his golden retriever dog without a leash following him inside..we love dogs, but allowing this man without his mask and his dog off a leash..was ridiculous. The friendly dog also came very close to my children outside , and we felt very uncomfortable with the man coming to our table without a mask on getting his dog. The servers or manager did not say anything to him. We will certainly not be visiting this place again. read more

Loved this place last year and was coming numerous times. I don't know what happened this year but food is coming out cold to the point it's not worth eating. This was the third time I came and had the same results. It's a shame because they have a good menu and good quality items used in their meals. Plus is good coffee. read more

I've never been to a restaurant that almost made me cry. Me and my 4 friends were so excited to eat at the parlor as there menu actually looked pretty decent! Little did we know, the parlor's menu is actually just a pretend menu they like to use so they can play restaurant. What do I mean by that? My friend ordered a grilled cheese that the menu said had Vermont cheddar, American, and provolone on it. Sounds yummy right? Well there version of a grilled cheese is just cheese because nothing about that sandwich is grilled. It was un toasted bread with once slice of craft cheese NOT MELTED. Pictured below. Since the menu is just a recommendation of what should actually be served, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that all of our chicken sandwiches were on hot dog roll rather than ciabatta bread like the menu said. Also, it took over a HOUR for all our food to get to us and there were maybe 5 other tables seated. I think during that hour they must of drove to McDonald's to get a large fry to split among the 5 of us because we each had maybe 15 fries on our plate and they tasted actually like classic McDonald's... I really wish we went to McDonald's. As you and your guest wait an hour for your food, you can look around the restaurant to see the 10 uncleared tables with half eaten food that's just been sitting there! It was really fun actually because me and my friends went to the parlor not knowing all the staff there was playing the silent game! So as you wait there for over a hour, don't expect any staff members to come up to you to apologize for the wait, or give you an explanation about where the food is. But at least the parlor is a great place to bond and meet new friends! The table next to us of 4 was also waiting a hour for there food which the parlor must do on purpose to allow everyone in the restaurant to bond. Eventually, a server brought one of the girls next to us plate!! Then, 10 minutes later they brought another girls plate... then 10 minutes later they brought the 3 girl her plate and finally, 10 minutes later they brought the 4th girl her plate! And of course, at our table, I got chosen to be like the 4th girl and I got my food 10 minutes after all my friend's got theres! I'm so honored the Parlor chose me and my 4 besties to ruin our day. P.S. we Stan the ice cream. Not a reflection of that. Only reason this has 1 star and not 0 is because we love the ice cream. read more

Unless you're prepared to wait about an hour for your breakfast, stay away until the owners get their act together. It's really a shame because their menu is terrific for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Three times we subjected ourselves to their very poor service. Teenagers who are sincerely trying to serve their customers but too inexperienced with no management in sight. Understaffed as are most places on the Jersey Shore this summer but still no excuse. Their avocado toast is very good and their sushi on the dinner menu is excellent, if you don't mind waiting. The service was great! My friend ordered the chicken. We felt for the money the piece should have been larger. It was was very good, though.I ordered Pesto Shrimp with rigatonI. The shrimp was very tasty, however he should have labeled it lemon pesto. It was very lemony and a spice was added that was not included in the description. After passing this place for a few years because it doesn't really appear to be a restaurant and more of just an ice cream place that sells food. The menu is great, the food was excellent and the young waitress was very nice. The place would benefit from a little more mature managment to make sure the timing was better and the service was more consistent. What a great place in Lavallette, N.J.!! The old Salty's is now a very nice ice cream, coffee and food heaven. I have been coming down to this area for the last 25 years and this is such a welcomed addition. The staff is very friendly and pleasant to see you. The food was amazing and so delicious. I will definitely come back again. The cauliflower was amazing and the empanadas were fresh and both came with delicious dipping sauces. The 8oz burger was complimented with peppered bacon, heirloom tomato, Gruyère Swiss cheese, butter lettuce on a toasted English muffin. Loved this place. In the new post covid world, we ate at a table on the sidewalk outside. We started with The cauliflower appetizer and the Mexican street corn appetizer. Both were fantastic. I had the ahi tuna entrée which was also fantastic. Service was great and prices reasonable. And it is BYOB which meant that they had my favorite beer available to me. Highly recommend this place. And when you are done, go to the ice cream parlor next door. I have no idea if they are owned by the same people but the ice cream is the best in Lavallette. read more

Went to this place with unbelievable food and the coffees out of this world . To full for ice cream to early in the day ,but will be back. The thing that got me was the name big sign outside says SALTYS but its called THE PARLOR . Have to scratch my head on that one Salty Parlor the The Parlor that's salty. We stumbled onto this restaurant last evening and just WOW. We had delicious tuna ceviche and garlic shrimp appetizers, followed by the Coconut shrimp roll. Dessert was a choice of ice cream from their parlor. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. A perfect meal! read more

Last summer we frequented the parlor for breakfast. This is their first season doing dinner so we tried takeout recently and ordered one of everything. It was one of the best meals we've had down here. It's not fast food pickup, this is high end American/Asian fusion type food. To start, I tried all three sushi rolls and they were all amazing. The wings were great. For entrees we had the paparedelle, and the salad which were also amazing. Obviously tried the ice cream and it was also great with a good selection. The Parlor's menu is top notch! I love the avo toast, himalaya scramble, and "A Chicken Sandwich" --sooo good! And their cold brew with pistachio syrup is delicious! The staff are super friendly and the menu is even better. My family and I went 2 mornings in a row, each getting something different for breakfast each day. Everything came out hot and delicious. Coffee is great and flavor shots didn't add gross artificial sweetness. Prosciutto crisps are so delicious and the avocado toast was to die for. Had a great acidity and creamy texture. I was down the shore and it was pouring this place was still so accommodating with the outside seating, I'm indecisive so I had our server pick my drink she was conscientious and asked if I had any allergies and then returned with a delicious cold brew with oat milk and peanut butter flavor it was delicious, when it comes to ordering I love to be a wildcard so I panicked and ordered a big sarge with was insanely good with tots, this place was really very busy for a rainy day, & for seeming a bit understaffed the service was still so friendly & informative. I did notice while I was there an incident where people complained about their food being cold after they had been sitting there talking over it for five minutes before they started to eat, when they complained their server offered to take it back in warm it, or remake it & they just seemed hard to please, because after waiting three minutes they decided to just leave, they were apologized to profusely again, not charged for any of their coffees & made a loud obvious statement upon leaving about them not leaving a tip. Their server was so polite & apologetic, I felt they were just very disrespectful about it a misunderstanding. I will for sure be returning here to sample more of the menu. read more
