This Kohr's had me thinking 5 stars for sure just because of their excellent customer service. This location is right on Rt 35, next to Barnacle Bill's. They actually have a small parking lot that many don't realize exists. You have to drive up the next side street towards the beach, then head down the one way road to their location. Pull in and you'll likely see some empty spots... Unless it's a Saturday. The custard here was delicious. What really stood out was the customer service. First my 82 year old father dropped his cone. They eagerly and happily replaced it for him. Then, when peeling away the paper from my cone, it buckled and collapsed. So mine fell too. When showing it to the guys behind the counter, they again were eager to help replace it. I was just Wow'd at the service here. They really want you to be satisfied.

I had ordered the dulce de leche on the bottom and soft chocolate and vanilla twist on top in a cone. But when she went to put the soft ice cream on top it came out in a circle around the edge instead of a normal ice cream swirl. And she put it on a cup, which was fine, but she went to add a swirl on top but the soft ice cream was unfinished. I told the girls that something was wrong with the ice cream and said it was having problems. I don't know why you would serve this.

My parents always selected the famous Creamsicle orange and vanilla swirl, while I transitioned to ordering the Strawberry and Banana swirl once that became an option. I was thrilled to see their counter on the Jenkinson's Boardwalk recently and was even more excited to see that they now offered almond milk-based flavors. I had initially been so disappointed when I had assumed that I would need to skip Kohr's because I no longer eat much dairy, so the discovery of the vegan flavors brought me sheer joy. In terms of these non-dairy varieties, I had the choice of vanilla swirled with orange or with chocolate. I went with the renowned orange, but wound up finding it very sweet. I think I would choose the chocolate next time, but it was nice to reminisce with a cup of the creamy treat.

If you're coming for the summer and don't mind the whole experience of taking a number, waiting in line, talking to East Coast locals, and taking in the sweet smells of the bakery...then enjoy the wait! The "Crumb Bun" or crumb cake as we call it, is what we also come here for because it's the "it" thing us West Coasters don't get on our side. What I noticed is they do individual pieces, a whole cake that serves 6-8, platters, with Bavarian cream, filled with slices of cinnamon apples, and a bag of "just the crumbs". We went with a whole crumb cake to take back to feed the family/guests, and a few decorated Sesame Street cookies. They have everything here though - from donuts/pastries, bagels/rolls/bread, fun cookies, cupcakes...you name it. They also have coffee! All in all get there close to opening, pre-order if needed, or just enjoy the crumb cake ride.
