This feels like an old school ice cream shop in the best way. The kind of place that feels like it hasn't changed much in decades, and they should probably spell it "shoppe" because I think that's how they did it back in the day. What do I mean by that? I'm not really sure. But the prices are right, they've got tons of flavors and options, you're served by some friendly teenagers, and there's an enormous outdoor seating area if you decide you don't want to walk the Asbury Park boardwalk with your cone (or cup or whatever). I love that they offer a small, medium, and large option for cups and cones, and that the large is only $7. There's also a "short shot" for $3.50, which is not just the size I want to give my kids so they don't overdose on sugar, but also the only size I want to eat myself as well. It's a single scoop of high quality ice cream, and it's perfect. I can also somehow get out of here with ice cream for my whole family for less than a single sundae in Brooklyn, and that's a beautiful thing. They've got dozens of flavors, but for me, it's all about the salted caramel pretzel. My wife is always trying to get me to split that and another flavor with her, but I don't need anything else. If you like creamy ice cream with smooth texture and with substance, not watery, not too sweet (but perfect) this is your place. I got the Nutella crunch flavor on a wafer cone and it was SO good, I'm still dreaming about it. I ate the whole thing. Because it's so creamy and has natural fats and sugars from the cream, they don't add too much sugar and it's just perfect. And it's not watery so it doesn't melt and run down your hand. While staying in Ocean Grove after dinner one night we decided to go get ice cream. We found this place while walking one day and exploring the town. It looks like it came out of a movie. It is so cute with the lights outside and the overhang area where you can sit outside and enjoy your ice cream. The place gets busy. It is small sides so the line is normally outside. They have a whole bunch of different ice cream flavors for you to pick from. I had the small salted caramel pretzel and it was more than enough for me. I like the chucks of pretzel in it. For two small and one medium the bill was about $15 which I thought was pretty reasonable. We sat outside in the area, which was really great for families or people who just wanted to relax for a little. Stopped in to try my first egg cream since I'm visiting the area and had a delightful visit to Day's! I came in with a mission to try an egg cream and it was delicious. We went to a festival in the area today and we stopped in to this ice cream and breakfast spot. The line was long so I knew it was going to be good. I ordered a waffle sundae which I thought was going to be a waffle cone/bowl, but it was an actual homemade waffle with ice cream on it. The ice cream was real good and the waffle was fresh and warm. Really big dessert, and it was $9, not bad. The only very minor constructive feedback is that the butterfinger topping on it was more like dust instead of small pieces. Now Moose Tracks was my favorite ice cream flavor and it's not always available at most ice cream shops and if it is- sometimes it's not the best. But this place has moose tracks that is good and it has this PB moose tracks and that now trumps Moose tracks for me lol. I was brought here by a friend after a beach day at Asbury Park . We drove over to Ocean Grove . Parking can be hellish. But if you can find one- you are set! Love their butter pecan myself! Make sure you get a small at biggest a medium. This small is most places medium but their medium is most places extra large. Day's has a vast variety of flavors, extremely organized, the outdoor seating is big, non congested and very clean. It seems like they send staff out frequently to check on the patio status. I came with my family 30 min to close and they was a long line. It went by super quickly. The staff is very friendly and quick and know how to be nice without rushing you. My group ordered, rum and raisin, dulce de leche, pistachio, trash can ( a bunch of flavors put together), and Midnight Chocolate Cookie. All of these flavors were DELICIOUS!!! Point blank. This is an excellent ice cream spot in a perfect location right at the start of the Asbury Park Boardwalk. On a perfectly sunny summer day, there's no better way than starting a nice walk on the beach or boardwalk with a stop here for some of the excellent ice cream. I ordered a small, which gets you two different flavors if you wish for the low low price of just $3.75. I chose Chocolate Peanut Butter (my default as long as they have it) and Salty Caramel Pretzel. Both were really excellent. The ice cream here is nice and dense and has some good chew to it. It holds up well under the sun on the beach. If you are not a child like me and prefer to have real food before your ice cream, you can grab some tasty tacos from Mogo which is a few steps away, and then come here for dessert to cool down before heading over to the beach. Either way, make sure you stop by here for a nice treat. read more
