Stopped by to get some bread to go with seafood bought at Ortley Seafood Market (also highly recommended) and found a lot more than a basic bakery. Cookies, cakes, doughnuts, and lots of fresh baked bread. Taylor Ham breakfast sandwiches and cheesesteaks on house made bread. Great little local business. read more

Taylor ham egg and cheese is pretty much a New Jersey specialty. No other state really understands what this God-given breakfast is all about. I've had this sandwich at about 30 different venues in the state and I have to say for fumosa. Bro's bakery had the best one I've ever had in my 42 years on planet earth. I loved their boston cream donuts. It was the main reason I went to Famosa bakery. They have completely changed the way they make the boston cream donuts. Nothing like the way they were. The Dough and chocolate are completely different. The cream inside seems like the same but you get only 1/3 of what you used to get. I was so excited when I walked into this place and saw St Joseph's in June! But the cannoli filled one tasted like SOAP - I am actually worried somebody grabbed the wrong ingredient? I keep giving this place a chance and I'm always disappointed. Have yet to get anything fresh. I don't get it. Today I got the "filled" cupcakes which actually weren't filled. Why the counter girl lied, is beyond me. She didn't use gloves and smashed her finger into the side of it and laughed but it didn't matter because it was so stale and old it was inedible. Great bakery!! Has the freshest donuts and pastries made everyday. Like all good bakery's their bread selection is excellent. I can't speak for almost everything in this place and there is nothing you shouldn't try. They do have a kitchen, to order breakfast sandwiches but I have never ordered. Absolutely the BEST cannoli cake EVER!!!! My favorite cake and I annoy my family every single year to get me one for my birthday. Yes, from another North Jersey Bakery since theirs WAS my favorite. Last year, my favorite was very disappointing to say the least so it was time to move on. I met up with the owners of Fumosa's son and he tells me, "no ya gotta try my families bakery". I loved my hometown bakery for 25 until today. I had ordered a pie the Sunday before Thanksgiving to be picked up on Thanksgiving in the am. I got my box, they had my name. Never thought to open the box. Why would I???? After dinner, to my great disappointment and disappointment on the faces of the other three people the box contained the wrong pie!!! I returned to Fumosa's and explained my disappointment only to have the owner offer me a Danish for my troubles. I understand the pie was half eaten but the previous owner/brother would have done the right thing by giving me the pie I ordered. Bad Business in my opinion. Suggestion to all who read this: if you place an order, check it before you leave. No one should be disappointed in their dessert. As for me I will find another bakery. read more

Good bakeries are hard to find and Fumosa is above average. It's small place tucked into a strip mall but don't overlook this nondescript gem. The crumb cake is good, the crullers are great, as are the cookies and rolls. Everything we've ever gotten from Fumosa was good. We stop in for a treat whenever we're in the neighborhood. Pleasantly surprised by Fumosa's! On our way to grab bagels one morning, we ran across the street to see what Italian pastries this place had. I'm a HUGE fan of sfogliatelle and when I saw they had them there, I bought one for each of us. Also ordered a crumb cake & a brownie. Sfogliatelle was definitely the winner of the bunch. Brownie was pretty good but the crumb cake was a little meh. Not horrible but nothing great. Was debating giving this place 4 stars but don't think we tried enough for that. And, this place is CHEAP! All the stuff bought up by me would be around $15, it was $5 down here. Not too shabby. So yeah, we'll be back. :) read more

So after waiting after super storm Sandy the bakery reopens . After stopping by to buy some rolls or bread from under one those pop up tent in front of the damaged bakery giving them support. I walk in standing there waiting I look at the cold cut menu and see everything Is the same price cheese, ham, salami but the slap in the face that there selling baloney for $9.50 a pound that's the thank you they give us. I just went into this Bakery and have been going there for years, however with COVID, i watched one of the workers handle money and then go and handle bread without changing her gloves. Happy to report that this bakery is open Saturdays and Sundays throughout the winter and, starting Good Friday, on Fridays as well. We're partial to the tea biscuits and crumb cake, but really, everything is terrific here. They do an excellent Taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwich, too. Service is very friendly. I too remember them sitting outside in the coldest winter weather and I'm glad to see them back in their renovated shop. Highly recommended, all year round. read more

The people working here aren't friendly, the food is expensive considering the egg was runny and the pork roll was dry, and its cash only. I even found a hair in my sandwich. I asked for a coffee and the cashier literally said no. I thought she was kidding, but then didn't get a coffee. Don't even know what to make of that experience. read more
