After my disaster at CJ's, I didn't want to go back, even though one of the stylists who did not ruin my hair does a really good haircut for my daughter. But I wanted to try somewhere new. Enter Hairbar. I chose this place for my 9 year old to get her haircut for her first day of school. She has wavy/somewhat curly hair and she wanted it straightened, along with a trim. The stylist took her back, shampooed and then brought her to the chair. She straightened it first, and then cut it with her standing up. My daughter was cringing the whole time she was getting the blow dry, and finally said the dryer was hurting/burning her scalp. The stylist commented that she burns her own daughter all the time, which really wasn't all that comforting. I could tell my daughter was uncomfortable with the straightener because she was so fearful of being burned. She's never acted like that before at any salon. I just held my breath, and thankfully that part went okay. When she finished the back of her hair, I could tell that her haircut was visibly crooked. I asked her to fix it, which of course meant taking off more length and then she kind of haphazardly cut the sides in a tapered look, but not even on both sides at all. She could tell, I guess, and then just kept snipping away at the sides. For $35, I felt that's a bit steep for a child under ten's haircut. They did have a 10% off offer on Yelp, but she denied it, saying they don't accept it. Well, someone should take it off the Yelp check-in page then. The other part I didn't like is that she literally stared at me the whole time I was paying, as in watching to see how much tip I was going to give. I gave the standard 20%, but felt uncomfortable being observed like that while trying to pay. Nice staff, but I can't say I'd come here again. The next day, I was speaking with one of my colleagues and she said she had been there once, and that she didn't like the haircut or style afterwards and never went back. Guess it's back to the drawing board.

I initially visited for a haircut and returned the following day for color. I showed my stylist pictures of exactly what I wanted: dark brown hair with lighter caramel highlights. Instead, I walked out with extremely brassy, orange/red highlights that looked nothing like my inspiration photos. After giving it a couple of days and hoping it would grow on me, I checked Muse's website and found their Client Satisfaction Policy, which clearly states that complimentary retouch appointments are offered if requested within 7 days and completed within 14 days with the original stylist. I followed those instructions exactly. I called, explained my dissatisfaction, and specifically stated that the highlights likely needed to be covered entirely. I was scheduled with the same stylist, with no mention of additional charges. At my appointment, I reiterated that I wanted the highlights gone. Instead, they were covered with semi-permanent color, meaning the red/brassy tones will resurface. To make matters worse, I was charged for the correction. When I questioned the charge, two employees + the stylist confronted me at the front desk, insisting that my situation "didn't qualify as a retouch" because we "covered the highlights". They even acknowledged that their website was misleading but refused to honor the policy. After 10+ minutes of an uncomfortable and embarrassing back-and-forth, they agreed to refund $67, leaving me paying for a correction that should have been complimentary. I had already spent nearly $575 at this salon before this appointment. This was never about the money. It's about principle, transparency, and accountability. I provided inspiration photos, didn't receive anything close to what I requested, followed their published policy, and was then charged again for a temporary fix. The entire situation was handled unprofessionally, and I left feeling embarrassed for simply expecting them to stand behind their work. I will not be returning and would strongly encourage others to reconsider before spending their time and money here.

Since I couldn't get a response, I had to go to the salon in person. When I spoke with them face-to-face, they acknowledged the situation and told me they would fix my hair free of charge the next time I came in. They also suggested that I wait because applying heat to my hair twice in the same week wouldn't be a good idea. When I later reached out to schedule that appointment, they completely changed their story and told me they would not be fixing my hair for free, despite what they had previously promised. This wasn't my only issue with this salon. On several occasions, I noticed I was being overcharged and had to bring it to their attention to have it corrected. That made me question their business practices. I initially chose this salon because I was new to the area and it was convenient, and I continued going because I wanted to support a local business. Unfortunately, after being ignored, having promises broken, and dealing with repeated pricing issues, I've decided I won't be returning. I value honesty, consistency, and good customer service. Sadly, my experience here did not reflect those values. After that, you're led to the service area that has multiple stations with curtain separating each. I was concerned about noise and privacy but it actually felt very private and quiet with light music. I decided to try the Ultimate which is 90 minutes. My service was relaxing but I wished there was more scalp massage and less focus on a face massage. They started out focusing on your face, shoulders and some neck but I was there for the scalp massage so I just wanted more of that. Hair drying is also not part of the service but I rather air dry usually so not an issue for me. Plus my hair also felt amazing for days afterwards thanks to the extra conditioning treatments. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience and looking forward to my next one!

I could be wrong here, but I've seen dust on their surface and arty structures. Also, I really don't like how they blow dry and comb your hair with their fingers. Not just a little bit while blow drying...but all throughout! It just feels a bit gross. I mean, who knows how clean their fingers are! I also hate the way they wash your hair. They actually have a separate girl that wash your hair (instead of the stylists)...and this girl is just not good! She has zero strength in her fingers...and I hate the way she even touches your hair! Possibly THE worst hair washing experience (experiences) I've ever had in ANY salon. I can't believe someone that's actually hired for this job (hair washing) does such a poor job! Despite liking the location and pricing, service and overall quality is always an issue. I may give it another try...but if my thoughts and feelings are confirmed once again on my next visit, I'll just find another salon in the area.

I find this salon thinking it's a salon. I get there and it was hard to find she wasn't clear on instructions when i called, and when i find the place it's just a small room. And it was dirty too. she had stains and things left out, old waxing sticks just sitting with the new ones. I have a bleached undercut and asked her to touch up on my roots because my birthdays this weekend and i want to look good for the beach. she rushes the application like dye is flying it hit me in the face and everything. she also rushed cutting my hair and you can kind of see in the pic how choppy it was. But she curled my hair and that hid everything so i was happy until i got home and my sister and i were going to fix the cut we noticed plenty of problems. you can just see the pictures speak for themselves. i texted her the next day saying id like to talk, she called me and asked for the pics so i sent them. she then called back and said she could fix it then made an appointment for me. then proceeded to blame ME for my hair looking like this. mind you i've been dying my own hair for 7 years and this particular style for 2years and it has NEVER looked like this. i make sure my hair looks good because it's my hair why wouldn't i? I got to the salon and told her i wasn't comfortable with her trying to fix it and that id like a refund on at LEAST the bleach. she told me she didn't see my text or the pictures i sent which is a lie because she called me in regards to it. she tried arguing with me over a refund and tried saying she can't do that but she runs the business so? i was telling her no she didn't even do what i asked, i asked for roots not to lighten the rest. that was her own decision and ignored my roots. i also don't think it was crazy to ask for the 110 back for the bleach job because her website says 65 and up for touch up. i understand the "and up" part but she also tried to fix where my natural hair was growing in and the black on top to try and make it look more natural (i can still see the line in between) so she charged me 110 for the brown, 110 for the bleach, and 52 for the cut. I also have her a 55$ tip. she tried sending me only 60 and i had to tell her no you didn't do what i asked. i also got the FLU after coming here! This whole week i've been opening the store alone and made no contact with anyone but going to her salon. i'm not going to point blame on her because you can get sick from anything but the timing and me not being around anyone leads me to believe i got sick from her. please don't go here it's a waste of money and time. and if you do ask to see her stylist license because how do you even have one if you do this? Its crazy to me she let me walk out like this. (the pic with the curls is when i got it done. you can see how choppy the cut is, and i wanted it shorter and she literally told me no) (she also threaded my eyebrows and did not shape them)

So lemme start with this my best friend had an appointment with this lady called lathern for her hair color, she's on her way to & receives a call "10 MIN PRIER TO HER APPOINTMENT" from lathern and says "hey sorry I can't come to work" wow really 10 Min before ?! Anyways long story short she made one of her co worked do her hair & guess what ?!?! Horrible hair color completely opposite to what she asked & on top of it "W/O asking or informing she used bleach on her hair & yup "more then 4-5 inches of her hair fell off!!! Yup and when she called lathern worrying & crying about her concern all she had to say was that your being too demanding & dong ever come to me I don't need your business wow what a great customer service!!! So after her calling at the salon they finally agreed to try to fix her hair... She went to Salon & lathern did not even cared to say hi or greet her it's ok that's wonder full customer service!!! I booked a partial, and asked the stylist to just give me a refresh on my blonde and bring it up. I left the salon looking more brown than I came in (I attached a photo). Not only was it not what I wanted, but it was patchy and uneven. I DM'ed the stylist and she had me come in a few days after. We talked about the miscommunication, and I felt like she didn't even listen to the tone or placement I wanted. The new blonde she put in DESTROYED my hair, was patchy, left bands, and was a completely different color than my ends. I thought about not leaving a bad review because they did give me a refund, but my hair is so damaged the new stylist that fixed it was appalled. I've never had this happen to me. Definitely won't be back, and now I have to spend even more money trying to repair my hair. Edit after owner response: I was pretty shocked to see the response left by one of the owners. No, no one followed up with me. I had to call after my second appointment and request a refund. The only reason they needed up giving me a refund is because I had a graduation a few days after and there was a salon closer to me that could fix it. Originally they told me they typically don't offers refunds because they want the opportunity to fix it. I'm sorry, but in my opinion, if I've been to a Salon twice in a week and they still continue to mess up my hair, I'd rather go somewhere else. Not only that, but the amount of money I had to pay to get my hair fixed was considerably more because I had to pay for a color correction. My hair was also really damaged, and the new stylist was hesitant to even put color on it. The amount of money I've paid in treatments is ridiculous. Super disappointed by this response. I feel like an honest review was needed so that way you can take the appropriate steps to reprimand the stylist and provide appropriate training.
