The Parish was a last minute choice for my wife and me with another couple for dinner. None of us had been there before and we trusted the recommendation of a coworker of our friend and that trust was not misplaced! My wife and I shared some chargrilled oysters, some gumbo, and the blackened grouper dinner. Everything was outstanding but I have to say the gumbo was as good as any I've ever had! As always, my review would not be complete without a few words about the service. From the time we walked in the door the staff was outstanding. The hostess greeted us immediately, found our reservation and assured us we would be seated promptly. The owner passed by shortly after. He also greeted us and assured us we would be seated shortly! Two things as I entered this business. I drove three hours before eating here. 1. Nice greeter at the hostess desk. Nice Gracie behind the bar. 2. Oyster shucker had head down on the bar. WTF? Ordered oysters but when I saw they were the size of a quarter I cancelled. Hated to bother the guy. Gracie was great. Brought me bread and butter. I ordered Ghost River Ale three times. Ordered crab claws. They came out hot and fresh. Two sauces to dip in. Really good beer, food, and ambience. I hated to see a slacker on the oyster bar but I guess that is what we have become. Absolute the best restaurant in Hernando hands-down. Hernando plenty of Mexican restaurants a couple, fast food, restaurants one rundown steakhouse. However, this place checks all the blocks. When I have people come from out of town to visit this is the the first place I'll take them. read more

Went to happy hour today at 3pm killer deal on the oysters! All the dishes we ordered were delicious. I would recommend checking their Facebook page for daily specials. I've been going to the Parish for over a year now. In the beginning we were going every week until we tried everything. We have never had a bad meal. Being from the West Coast I'm picky about how my fish is cooked, Everything is always perfect here. I watch their Facebook page, and when I see something I just have to have, we head up for dinner. We usually try to get there early enough for Happy Hour. Them Buck A Shuck Oysters go down like a fat kid on a See-Saw. We usually start with a dozen of them, and another dozen off the grill. Usually a Cup of Gumbo. Make sure you get a lil loaf of there homemade bread to sop up the butter from the oysters. By the time we finish that all up, dinner is usually ready. We almost always have the specials. They have the greatest servers too. My Favorites are the Bartender if you are lucky enough to get her one table she does, and Liz. They are on top of everything! The Parish is one of the best place to eat in Mississippi. It's right up there with The Half Shel Oyster House way down in Biloxi. I can't pick a favorite. read more

Nice seafood restaurant in Hernando! It's nice to finally have something different in town. The food was very good, and the service was very attentive and fast. Crawfish bread appetizer was amazing. Good fried crab claws. Fried seafood platter was huge. The fried shrimp that came with it were incredible. Huge and plump! Already crowded at 5pm on a Wednesday so get here early! This place is brand new and some kind of wonderful if you like oysters, shrimp, crawfish and fresh fish. All I can say is Wow. WONDERFUL food! Reminded us of our favorite place in Bon Secour near Gulf Shores - without the 5 hour drive! We had the fried crab claws and chargrilled oysters for appetizers. We shared an entree- the seafood platter with fried grouper, fried shrimp, fried oysters, and stuffed crab. This place is a treasure and I hesitate telling people, because I don't want them to make the wait too long! We got there at 5:00 and waited 25 min to be seated (which I thought was very reasonable). Literally every bite was a treat and delight! The dessert took a little long and they comped it, which I didn't expect at all! The server was so Southernly sweet and the place had a homey feeling. The owner came by and checked on us. I saw him chatting with other customers like we were in Mayberry. It made me want to move to Hernando! I would recommend this place higher than 100 on all points. I knew when I saw all the cars in front of this storefront type restaurant, we were in for a treat. Great seafood in Hernando MS. Wife and I arrived at 3:30 on Saturday afternoon, and were seated after about 45 minutes. Ordered crab claws and jumbo crab cakes for appetizers. Crab cakes were not very warm, and a smooth consistency. Was hoping for actual chunks of crab inside. Crab claws were hot, delicious, and plentiful. Remoulade dipping sauce was really good as well. We ordered shrimp dinner and Alaskan King Crab legs special for our mains. Be sure to finish appetizers before you order more because ours arrived within 5 minutes and we were still working on the apps. Both mains were delicious. You can order seafood broiled, fried, or blackened and there is also a selection of boiled seafoods at market price. Saw a beef filet special on menu as well, but we were there for seafood. Wife wanted the fried jumbo shrimp and she was not disappointed. Came with sides of fries and cole slaw. 1 1/2 lbs. of Alaskan King Crab Legs special came with sausage, corn, and potatoes. All were very good. Nice beer selection, and we were told you can bring your own bottled wine. No liquor currently. We enjoyed the food and experience. I have been to the Parrish a ton of times and the service has always been great. Tuesday the food and service was great- but the way we were treated was terrible. I was a bartender and server for a long time so I know the restaurant industry very well. I was absolutely appalled at the way the manager or owner kept trying to rush our party of 6 tonight. Constantly pointing and staring at our table while we were having a family dinner. The party of 8 that was waiting also kept looking at us. Every few seconds another busser was coming by and grabbing everything off our table down the napkins and silverware while we were still eating our meal and then dessert. The hostess was also standing there with a spray bottle waiting for us to hurry up so she could clean the table. I have never been rushed out of a restaurant like that before. It was extremely unprofessional and after that experience we probably won't ever be back. We spent over $270+ in there tonight for dinner and being rushed and stared at made us uncomfortable and was extremely rude. Apparently our party of 6 and spending over $270+ was an inconvenience for you tonight and you just wanted us out of there so you could seat the party of 8.
