This place is mid. We stopped coming back from Chicago since it had good reviews. The lady at the counter was nice. Our food took a pretty long time to come out considering we got sandwiches. When we did get our sandwiches, one was completely wrong. We decided it wasn't worth waiting another 15-20 minutes for a new one. The sandwiches themselves were fine. Nothing amazing, nothing terrible. Personally I didn't love the environment. If you don't like nonstop Christian music and groups of women loudly cackling in the corner, this probably isn't your place. They did have cool snacks in their store and the desserts looked good but we didn't try any. Edit to add the bathrooms were really clean and they also had Narcan in both the men and women's which I think is a really cool way to keep an eye out for your neighbors. read more

We had our grandson from Naperville for a week. We met our son at the Pantry so he could take his son home. We arrived first, ordered our food and were eating when our son arrived. He ordered a sandwich and asked for no mayonnaise(he's allergic). It took a long time for his sandwich to arrive, and when it did, it was covered in mayonnaise. He took the sandwich back to the counter and the clerk argued with him about his requesting no mayo. Again, he has allergy and is very cautious to avoid getting sick. At that point, he explained that he didn't have time to to wait for another sandwich, and asked for his money back. After more arguing from the "lady" who claimed to be the owner, shoved the money back at him. He came back to our table to retrieve his 6 year old son who was finishing his cookie. He sat down for minute while his son finished eating. Immediately the owner comes barreling out of the kitchen screaming, "I thought you were in a hurry"? "You just wanted your money back." I said do you really think he drove 3 hours just to order a sandwich, and not take one bite, just to ask for his money back? She kept yelling that he didn't specify no mayonnaise. She was relentless! I finally asked her to please walk away from our table so we could finish eating. Our grandson was terrified. At point, she starts yelling, "I own this place, you get out! At that point we left. All this over the price of a deli sandwich. Needless to say we were all in shocked over her insane behavior. If you go there, eat whatever you're served or suffer the wrath of the boss "lady". read more

We stopped by for coffee in the middle of a road trip. The location is a little hidden, but easy to get to. I was shocked to see the cashier and barista not wearing masks. The coffee was fine, but it took a while to get our drinks. My son's latte was very sweet. Lovely little place next to Holiday Inn Express right off the interstate. I had the bologna sandwich and it was delicious. I shared a chocolate chip cheese cake and it was also very good. It was a lovely day and we sat outside enjoying their nice porch. Staff was friendly and service quick. They also have bread, jam, etc. for purchase. Hello. I had lunch today at the pantry cafe. There is a sign on the door requiring masks, yet no one, staff or customer alike, were wearing masks. The woman who took our order and money, the woman who brought out our food, the woman who was cleaning the tables and the woman who refilled the tea all failed to wear a mask. This spot is quickly becoming a regular for me. I love the atmosphere and the coffee is amazing. I am usually here for breakfast but I've been known to stop by to grab some cookies or some other treat too. The only complaint I have has to do with the breakfasts. I'm not sure what you call the sausage they use, but it is the least sausagey sausage I've ever had. It's pretty flavorless. Giving them one star is a stretch. If I am making this review, you know that this was a horrible experience. I have been to this place multiple times for lunch & really like their food. Hadn't had a bad customer experience but this time was a whole different ball game. Not only did it take them over 10 minutes to make a iced coffee but they served me a cup of iced milk with a splash of coffee. I asked for it to be re made, seeing how I paid nearly 5 dollars for this. I stated if this was going to be a problem to remake I would leave. Another 5 minutes later, I was handed a cup of watered down iced "coffee" which she made in the back this time around. I hope your parking lot enjoys that water down cup "coffee" cause I know I won't be nor will I be returning to this establishment. Not because the food but solely because of the way I was treated. Newer business/restaurant to Tuscola, family owned and ran with owners usually on site. Near the Holiday Inn Express, across of the outlet mall. Recently expanded their hours into the evening. Includes a deli-cafe and Amish-style bulk food store. Cafe features many coffee drinks and specialty sodas; sandwiches on homemade bread and homemade soup, baked goods, and fresh salads. I enjoy a sandwich on the marble bread, toasted. Toasted means "panini style" - pressed. Very yummy. I recommend getting cheese on your sandwich as it's good, Amish cheese. Special is often half a sandwich and soup for $6.25. Everything is always high quality and very yummy. Not the biggest portions (which can be good - I hate having too much and feeling wasteful, or stuffed) but very satisfying and in-line with the price given the high quality. I'm glad they've expanded their hours. Be sure to check out their facebook page for the daily special. They have a few couches, a few tables and some bar height tables. Not the biggest place around, but I've never had a problem finding a seat. How can The Pantry only have one review!? I'm creating a Yelp account just to add another. This place is awesome. The sandwich's, the huge salads, the soups, the tea and coffee drinks, I've never had anything there that wasn't good. Talk about awesome service and kind people. Any time we've ever had a problem, they've always made it up in some way. Not even really "problems", just inconveniences. Like, sorry we are out of the soup you wanted, but pick a free dessert to make up for it! And that's not been a problem recently, that was closer to when they first opened and were still figuring out quantities and such. As for the bulk food side of the business, they've added stuff everytime I've been in there. Candies, spices, extracts, snacks... everything. They've got some awesome fresh produce right now, and it's pretty much the only place my wife and I buy eggs anymore. Farm fresh eggs, and they are the biggest I've seen. Everything is local. AND you can buy the salad dressings that they make in house! (The poppyseed is awesome.) So pretty much, if you havn't been there, go. If you have been there, you probably are still going on a regular basis. If you went and didn't like it, go again just to be sure because this place is one of the best in town! read more

Amazing. Must stop and eat here. Small business with amazing food. The broccoli and cheese soup was delicious. Sometimes it has a grainy consistency but this was perfectly smooth. I had a roast beef sandwich on white bread with pepper jack cheese, lettuce and pickles. I got it toasted and would highly recommend it. Loved it! Just stopped for lunch on our way home from southern Illinois. We wanted something besides fast food or a chain meal. Its They have a great selection of sandwiches made with fresh meats and cheeses that you can get on a variety of fresh baked breads-grilled if you like. I got the turkey sandwich with provolone, mayo, cranberry sauce and green peppers. Delicious! The side of pasta salad was very flavorful. There also salads, a couple of soups, coffees, and what looked like all homemade cookies, desserts, and other sweet treats, but we were too full to eat any. On one side of the building there is a store stocked with "pantry" items. I bought some rice grown in southern Illinois more naturally high in protein that I can't wait to try.
