Cuban spiced chicken panini - soooo good
    Mary K.

I don't know why I waited so long to come here! Came here to grab lunch with a coworker and was not disappointed AT ALL! Located next to Avenue N (its parent company, which I have been to). Parking is limited in the lot but street parking is available. Luckily when we got there, no one else was in line. As we waited for our sanwiches to be made, the line got longer. I knew I wanted to try their black bean salad/salsa after seeing it on their offerings off the website, so I got 1/2 lb of that - just wasn't sure what to get for lunch. I settled on the cuban spiced chicken panini and let me tell you, it was DELICIOUS! Crusty buttery sourdough, moist chicken breast, smashed avocado, bacon, cheese....I'm sad I no longer have it to eat. It's probably one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. I had to refrain from eating all of it, so saved half of each of my choices for the next day's lunch. The black bean salad was so fresh tasting - shredded carrots, corn, red onion, red pepper and had a little kick - I NEED to find a recipe to mimic this dish. It's a bit pricier that your usual lunch takeout - I think I paid about $15 for my meal. But it was worth every penny. They have ready to go salads, pizza slices and what not. They also had baked goods, sauces and all sorts of concoctions. Labels read a lot of their things are gluten free, so that's a nice option for those who seek it. Def going to make a visit back here! Be sure to check online as it states their menu may change daily. Nom nom nom.....

    Italian panini

I stopped by today around 4pm for a quick dinner. I have been wanting to try this place since I last dined at Avenue N. It was hard to find because from the street there is no sign. I didn't know if it was in the same building as Avenue N or what because both times I have been in that building (for both Seven Stars bakery and Avenue N, I have never seen it.) Long and behold it is right next door! I got an Italian Panini, a cup of Chicken soup and a bag of chips all to go. I sat outside at one of the tables to take in some of the warm weather while it lasts. The panini was great, full of flavor and just what I was expecting. The soup however, was a total fail. It was so hot as if it was sitting on the stove for hours just boiling away. I never complain about hot soup, however the soup was so overcooked I couldn't eat it. Everything tasted the same, that over boiled taste where everything takes on the same flavor. The chicken was no longer chicken, it had cooked for so long that it was shreds of angel hair like pieces. This is definitely a cute spot, and I hope to be back soon, however bad soup is a deal breaker for me.

If you are looking for a nice lunch spot, this is where it is at. Upon walking in you see this amazing assortment of fresh salads and pizzas and sandwiches. They have lots of local products like the amazing pickles for you to buy to go. The assortment of paninis was so unique, I ended up with the Cuban sandwich which was so tasty. They had a variety of soups and prepared salads (buffalo chicken, kale, quinoa, everything!) The seating is limited but they do have one table that can fit up to 6 people or can split up to smaller tables. Staff was very friendly and will make any adjustments to your order. So whether you want a good sit down lunch or you are looking for some food to go for dinner or lunches, this place is just great! Will be back soon! Please note: you cannot see the sign from the road, just pull into the plaza with the bakery.

    Sopressata Panini

Doing a bit of work in the neighborhood, I stopped in for a quick bite of lunch at the Pantry. Let's just say that this job might need an extra site visit or two, right around lunchtime. My sandwich was fantastic. I would have a hard time turning down thinly sliced Sopressata laid upon anything. But toasted into the middle of what was essentially a grilled cheese sandwich, with Gruyere mind you, this was irresistible. The slightly hot and spicy salami was further lifted by the push and pull of sweet and sour, a jam of Balsamic glazed onions and Walnuts. All on perfectly crisp, light fresh white toast. A really great sandwich.

I wasn't comfortable in here. The seating is minimal, and there's no table service. There were a lot of flies buzzing around.

Me and a couple others came here for dinner on a Sunday. There was a decent sized parking lot right…read morein front of the building for about 5-6 cars. Inside, there were about 10-12 tables. Since we were 5 people, we joined a couple tables to have more space. We went to the counter to grab a menu and decide on what we'd get. To have a diverse plate, we decided on pasta and meatballs, a large grilled chicken sandwich with everything + mayo, and a large pizza 3-way combo - onions and pepper, pepperoni, and sausage. They don't have 2 L bottles of soda, but they were nice enough to let us know we could go buy one across the street at the gas station (downside: they are not refrigerated). They also asked if we wanted everything at the same time or whenever they're done; It was a kind gesture. After about 20-30 minutes, the food came out. It was hot, fresh, and overall, everything was delicious. The pasta and meatballs came out in an aluminum container, about 5 in x 8 in. There was a good amount of red sauce and 4 big meatballs. The meatballs were really delicious, with the red sauce being average, and the pasta cooked a bit longer than al dente. I usually prefer white sauces, but red is the only option they have. They couldn't cut to the sandwich is 5 pieces since it would create a mess, so the best they could do is 4. The sandwich was toasted perfectly. It had a good amount of chicken. The toppings were fresh. Although it was a simple sandwich, I was very pleased with the taste. The pizza was good. My only complaint would be that I wish it were cooked a bit more for a crispier experience - in hindsight, I should've specified this when ordering. This also goes for the veggies where I wish they were grilled to have a slight char before putting it on the pizza or allowing them to get crispy. However, I think flavor wise, it was good. The sausage was really delicious and the cheese, although it didn't have a pull, it was the right amount and tasty. We paid about $50 for this food, which was good considering the 5 of us ate and left satisfied.

A nice lady greeted us and brought us to a table and gave us menus. We had grabbed canned sodas out of the cooler area, assuming that's how you do it? The pickles and slaw were rocking! My friend and I decided to split an order of potato latkes which come with apple sauce and Sour cream. I tried both ways and preferred the sour cream. I got the pastrami on rye and added ground mustard which was provided along with salt and pepper on each table I could only finish half. My dining mate got the turkey melt (toasted grilled) and loved it. I really want to go back and try the patty melt with Mavens relish. Get a macaroon! I literally ate mine in 2 sittings because it was so good and big!

Come for the décor, stay because your food hasn't arrived yet…read moreAfter seeing WhatDidYouEatTodaySir hype up Marvin's Delicatessen, I figured it was worth the ride down from the Boston area. I love a good deli. Unfortunately, this wasn't just disappointing--it was borderline comical. Let's start with the good: the place looks fantastic. Clean, modern, really well done. If Yelp rated based on interior design alone, this place is pushing 5 stars. Now... the rest. First clue something was off--the dining room felt like a walk-in freezer. Not exaggerating: every single table had people eating in their coats. At some point you have to look around and think, "maybe we turn the heat up before someone orders a side of frostbite." Then came the wait. And the wait. And the wait. Close to an hour for deli sandwiches. During that time, I had a clear view of the kitchen, which turned into dinner and a show. Plates were coming back nonstop--wrong bread, wrong orders, total confusion. It was like watching a live-action blooper reel. Eventually, our food arrives... and of course, it's wrong. Back it goes. No big deal--mistakes happen. Round two: soup comes out with vegetables after my wife clearly explained she has an allergy. The waitress caught it (thankfully), and back it goes again. What finally came out can only be described as "chicken soup in spirit." It tasted like someone waved a bouillon cube over hot water and called it a day. No seasoning, no substance, and I'm pretty sure the "chicken" made a brief guest appearance and left. Her sandwich? Also wrong--and somehow included onions and mystery vegetables. So that was basically game over. I ordered the 50/50 (pastrami and corned beef). I say "ordered," but identifying what actually showed up was a bit of a guessing game. The meat was dry--painfully dry. The pastrami (I think?) had the texture of kindling wood and looked like it had been sliced by someone who just discovered what a knife is. Tough, stringy, and completely lacking that juicy, melt-in-your-mouth quality you expect from a deli. The waitress seemed nice enough but didn't really know the menu, and the kitchen was clearly in full chaos mode. One guy--who I assume was the owner or manager--was running around like a man trying to put out ten fires with a squirt gun. At some point, we just started laughing. Not because it was good--because it was so bad it crossed into "you can't make this up" territory. Maybe I'm spoiled coming from the North Shore, where delis take pride in their corned beef and pastrami. But if you're going to call yourself a delicatessen, you've got to at least get the basics right. This place has the look, but none of the execution. I wouldn't go back. I wouldn't recommend it. And next time I'll just stay north of the border where the sandwiches actually show up correctly--and edible.

We were there for the wings anyway, as RI Food Fights brought us here. We got the Maple Bacon Bourbon wings, a side of fries and the giant pretzel The wings were good! Not super crispy but the glaze coated them well and clung to the wing nicely. The menu said they were smoked before they were fried, but outside of the generous amount of bacon bits that were part of the glaze, I didn't get much smoke in the meat itself. Otherwise, we liked the glaze. The fries are the more expensive, clear coat kind that hold their crisp longer, which I appreciate. They were great plain or with ketchup. The pretzel was warm and perfectly soft. The beer cheese that came with it was excellent. And the blue cheese dressing was as well that we got with the wings. It had a great blue cheese flavor without giant chunks of cheese. They also offer pizza and a number of handhelds that all looked interesting, so I'll have to come back soon when the full kitchen is open!
