The first time I ate from the pantry, my coworkers had suggested it to order in on a Friday. I had the turkey panini, and I was hooked! The sandwich had turkey, cheese, bacon ( I picked off), greens, and a delicious aioli sauce. I suggested that my husband and I go in and try it a couple months later. It is located in the same plaza as Avenue N in Rumford. The storefront is made up of a glass "garage door" so it is pretty cool and unique inside. Service was prompt and friendly. Hubby tried the Cuban, he loved it, and I, creature of habit, stuck to my turkey panini. Once we ordered, the sandwiches came up faster than I expected. I had to use the bathroom and had to go next door to Avenue N. The owner or manager held the door for me, and was very friendly. Everyone that we have met there is friendly. I wish I loved the pantry as much as 4 years ago me loved it. I went today and got their special sandwich, bbq. Just a sandwich in regular size bread pressed as a panini, and it was $12!!! I had no idea until I had to sign for it! The special board didn't have a price and all the other sandwiches were around $8 so I thought it would be the same. Even worse, one bite in and I was disgusted. The chicken was not cooked well and had that rubbery texture where you have to really pull with your teeth to break it. I threw it away after 2 bites and I'm gagging thinking of it. This could be a one off, but I'm really bummed about wasting $12 on my one spend day of the week! I have some other little gripes that honestly bring down my old rating too. We bought some stuff from the shop, which is still really cute and offers a lot of local (though very upcharged) stuff. And when we checked out, there's a line for tip! Everyone feels weird leaving a tip line blank, so why is it there! Just to make us feel awkward?!? All they offer to drink is hot coffee or cold brew, everything else is a deli or store or serve yourself food so why even tipping! Located in the market area near Avenue N and Seven Stars Bakery, The Pantry is a tiny restaurant that packs a ton inside. As you walk in at first you think it's just a tiny marketplace/corner they have fridges full of a various assortments of food from Milk to Eggs to Bacon to Jams. They have potatoes and local candies and just about anything you might need for a quick supermarket run. Now then you notice they have a glass display with different salads and meats to purchase as well. The seating is very limited so I would suggest 4 is the biggest crowd you should roll in with, unless you want to stand while you eat. They have three tables with max seating at 4 and then they have some barstools and counter seating spread around the place. When I walked in I went with my fiancé, and she told me the Veggie Big Mac was the best thing since sliced bread. When she talks I listen and trust me the Veggie Big Mac is dope. We each got one, and it only took around 10 minutes to receive it. It looks like a Big Mac, it smells like a Big Mac, and it even tastes like a Big Mac. I might add that it may taste better than a Big Mac with the added bonus that it a black bean burger so it's a healthier option for ya! Now if you aren't interested in the Veggie Big Mac, maybe you should check out the Chicken Cuban or the steak sandwich or the soup of the day. I don't know why I waited so long to come here! Came here to grab lunch with a coworker and was not disappointed AT ALL! Located next to Avenue N (its parent company, which I have been to). Parking is limited in the lot but street parking is available. Luckily when we got there, no one else was in line. As we waited for our sanwiches to be made, the line got longer. I knew I wanted to try their black bean salad/salsa after seeing it on their offerings off the website, so I got 1/2 lb of that - just wasn't sure what to get for lunch. I settled on the cuban spiced chicken panini and let me tell you, it was DELICIOUS! Crusty buttery sourdough, moist chicken breast, smashed avocado, bacon, cheese....I'm sad I no longer have it to eat. It's probably one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long time. I had to refrain from eating all of it, so saved half of each of my choices for the next day's lunch. The black bean salad was so fresh tasting - shredded carrots, corn, red onion, red pepper and had a little kick - I NEED to find a recipe to mimic this dish. It's a bit pricier that your usual lunch takeout - I think I paid about $15 for my meal. But it was worth every penny. They have ready to go salads, pizza slices and what not. I have to say I was completely disappointed I spent 70.00 on sides and a pie for Thanksgiving. The Stuffing was just Bread and Brother had no flavor no seasonings not piece of anything in there at all? I can't say enough about this place after having been here for the first time today, in love. It's very farm chic upon walking in, the girls behind the counter were super friendly and greeted us right away. It was a bit after lunch time so not particularly busy but we had a look at what was on display and quickly decided. I had a beet Ruben which was meatless but not at all lacking! The kraut, cheese, beet and crispy bread was a great combo on such a lousy cold day. My mother got a frittata and beet salad which was lovely with creamy cheese and pecans. My fiancé had the chicken Cuban which he said was delicious with fresh chicken and creamy avocado. He had a side of the couscous salad which I tried and I loved! I stopped by today around 4pm for a quick dinner. I have been wanting to try this place since I last dined at Avenue N. It was hard to find because from the street there is no sign. I didn't know if it was in the same building as Avenue N or what because both times I have been in that building (for both Seven Stars bakery and Avenue N, I have never seen it.) Long and behold it is right next door! I got an Italian Panini, a cup of Chicken soup and a bag of chips all to go. I sat outside at one of the tables to take in some of the warm weather while it lasts. The panini was great, full of flavor and just what I was expecting. The soup however, was a total fail. It was so hot as if it was sitting on the stove for hours just boiling away. I never complain about hot soup, however the soup was so overcooked I couldn't eat it. Everything tasted the same, that over boiled taste where everything takes on the same flavor. The chicken was no longer chicken, it had cooked for so long that it was shreds of angel hair like pieces. This is definitely a cute spot, and I hope to be back soon, however bad soup is a deal breaker for me. read more

I have come here twice now, once when they hosted a couple small local food businesses, and once for their own food. When I went in yesterday, two sandwiches caught my eyes, the Veggie Mac and the Bulgogi Steak and Cheese. I went with the bulgogi steak and cheese. It was AMAZING! The kimchee, the meat, the cheese, and the spices all went together so well. And it was filling, two of us split the sandwich and were filled. It isn't a "fast food" place, I was probably there 5-10 min from walking in the door to walking out with the food (ordered to-go), but it well worth the wait. The employees are pleasant, the interior is clean, and there is a nice selection of local groceries to browse while you are waiting for your meal. Doing a bit of work in the neighborhood, I stopped in for a quick bite of lunch at the Pantry. Let's just say that this job might need an extra site visit or two, right around lunchtime. My sandwich was fantastic. I would have a hard time turning down thinly sliced Sopressata laid upon anything. But toasted into the middle of what was essentially a grilled cheese sandwich, with Gruyere mind you, this was irresistible. The slightly hot and spicy salami was further lifted by the push and pull of sweet and sour, a jam of Balsamic glazed onions and Walnuts. All on perfectly crisp, light fresh white toast. We are new to the neighborhood and had heard good things about the Pantry. It surely didn't disappoint! I had the roast beef panini and my husband had the turkey. Both were delicious and fresh. The Pantry also has a good selection of potato chips; we got the spicy dill chips and they were a bit out there, but awesome. Since we're new in town, we'll definitely go back one night and pick up some of their prepared foods. We tried a sample of the sriracha mac and cheese and it was on point. My only complaint is that some of the products they sell are seriously marked up. You can purchase the DeVine salad dressing at Dave's Marketplace for about half what the Pantry sells it for. I hope to follow up with a second review soon enough. The thing is, I can't believe I have to rate this place with only 2 stars - the idea, and the quality of food here is great...it's just not delicious, or worth the price tag. Granted, I've been here only a couple times since they opened. I have had soups and sandwiches and some prepared salads, none of which I will write about with enthusiasm. In fact, the last cup of soup I had can best be described as vegetable water. It was a vegetable soup composed of mostly edamame and onions, a smattering of root vegetables and the occasional pattypan squash. Must've been some kitchen leftovers from Avenue N the day before (which is creative, and fine, but could have used more...something.) I added salt and pepper but it didn't do very much for the flavor. Everything is always a little bland. Plus, the cup of soup I took to go was maybe 6oz and cost me nearly $7. It did come with two big slices of white bread, which was a nice accompaniment. But, I found it kind of humorous that a soup so plain would come with the plainest variety of bread. Maybe something with a little more crust or toasted would have helped. I did have a tuna wrap once that was good. I'm not really big on wraps, but this one was assembled nicely. The tuna wasn't overly mayonnaise-y, and I was given options like lettuce and tomato. The chocolate chip cookies are really good - that I remember well. A perfect chip-to-dough ratio. Mmmm... One thing I think is important to point out is a microwave. Yes, a microwave. Do with this note what you will. I want to acknowledge their staff. Such nice gals! Really chipper, warm, and helpful. The space is clean and beautiful. They do a good job in creating a welcoming and comfortable ambiance. Also, I think their store is a fantastic idea. The Pantry isn't just a lunch spot, it's a local food shop. Along the walls you can find local goods like milk, cheese, jams, and even some produce. I wish their selection was more broad, but I'm sure they will expand over time. Such a good idea! Plus, there's not too much going on in Rumford in the food scene, so this is refreshing to see. I'll keep going back every once in a while in hopes to be "wowed". Fingers crossed..... read more

Avenue N has expanded! Just like LaLaiterie has Farmstead - a winning restaurant and store combo side by side - Avenue N now has The Pantry! Don't miss it, it's a separate entrance. The Pantry features delectable prepared foods (mains and sides) to purchase deli style by the weight in addition to a short but snappy list of grocery items like maple syrup, honey, peanut butter, granola, pickles, cranberries, oil, vinegar - every gourmands dream. They also have a handful of tables and an appealing eat-in lunch menu with soups, salads, pizza, and creative sandwich list (dijon-caper dressing? yes please!) Gripes? No coffee. Maybe it was an off day (day after Thanksgiving). Maybe they have good reason not to serve coffee being wedged between 7 Stars and parent restaurant Avenue N. But my gut tells me they should have coffee considering they have tables to sit and lounge at and they sell a number of other beverages (including Yacht Club seltzer!) The prepared foods looked mouth watering. The grocery items carefully curated. But it was lacking that special something something on the service and ambiance front. That said, it was the day after Thanksgiving which - which is just a weird day for all businesses. I look forward to returning during the week at lunch time to try one of the sandwiches and sides and reinvestigate. The food looked too good not to give it another go! We were in town for 3 days and ate here for lunch every day! It really just got better and better. My husband ate the Housemade Honey Brined Turkey Panini, which was plenty of food for him and was loaded with tons of turkey and applewood bacon.. He was a happy man. I changed it up every day and picked a few of their salad options like the spaghetti squash salad.. incredible flavor! The best salad offering in my opinion was the beet and tomato salad. It was as beautiful as it tasted - they used red and golden beets and red and yellow tomatoes and topped it with goat cheese. I would highly recommend this place. Picked up lunch for r my daughter and i. She had herb chicken and chick pea salad which she enjoyed. I had the frittata and brussel sprouts with pancetta which i did not enjoy. The frittata had absolutely no flavor and the brussel sprouts were hard. When i called to mention this i was told sorry but the brussels are not supposed to be cooked , they are blanched. This should be on the sign as i like my brussels a bit edible. I would give 3.5 if i could read more

This is a welcome addition to the area. They sell much more than sandwiches (they have a great selection of prepared foods), but on the day I went I had their turkey panini with a side of potato salad and they were both really good. Seven Stars has a mediocre cousin in the same parking lot and it is "The Pantry". Where to begin? The selection, which they build up on the Facebook page, is not consistent and is very limited. The space is not much bigger than my bathroom. Judging by what they did have, the quality didn't justify the price. The beauty of RI is that there are many other places to get coffee, sandwiches, salads, edibles, specialty market items... The only thing that keeps it from being one star is that the staff is friendly. The owners need to rethink their mission statement. read more
