I got samosa chaat to go and was pleased with the dish -- it was a decent size portion and relatively filling. My order was ready quickly and the staff was friendly. I loved the outdoor patio area!

We were looking for somewhere to go for dinner when we spotted The Pakora Bar. Turns out to have only opened a couple of weeks ago, but this place definitely deserves to be a success. The staff in there were extremely friendly and nice, and explained all their efforts to ensure the food was suitable for vegetarians and people with gluten-intolerance. Despite their best efforts, there was a slight potential issue with cross-contamination, but they happily cooked some fresh pakora and samosas in new oil. The food was delicious, with some terrific sauces. Don't go expecting a restaurant experience, as it's more of a street food café. However, if you like your food fresh, hot and tasty then this is a great location. No alcohol license yet, but they've made an application.

So glad I trusted the yelp reviews and took the time to come here! Also glad I had skipped breakfast because the food was phenomenal. I especially enjoyed the cauliflower pakoras, but the vegetable curry was also delicious. Very well seasoned and pleasantly spicy for my rather potato-level taste buds. Very friendly and attentive staff.

Looking for a small evening snack after enjoying cocktails next door, the Pakora Bar had caught my eye since we arrived in Edinburgh and I'd been wanting to try it. Service was excellent! Everyone was friendly and helpful. I couldn't decide between the fish or paneer pakora. Our server suggested we do half and half. I love being able to have that option especially being generally indecisive and always wanting variety! It was the perfect option and the perfect amount of food for us. Each pakora dish also comes with a sauce. Again, our server suggested we try two different ones and he would give us half of a spicy sauce and half yogurt based and we were only charged for one sauce. Both pakoras were fantastic. Especially the fish, it was so flavourful. I highly recommend this place and wish that I could have more time in Edinburgh so I can come back and try more dishes here!

Amazing food for an amazing value, and the service was among the best I've ever had, if not the best. Thanks for the personal service and delicious meal!

Found this place walking through Edinburgh and was very happy with my experience. The small cafe with community seating offers a great setting for this tasty food. We got the pakora's: paneer and veggie haggis, both were very good and spiced well. We also got the spring rolls which were cooked to perfection. Overall I was happy with my experience here!

These pies are a great light lunch or snack when consumed by themselves. Or one can get a variety of them and make it a meal. The pies are made fresh daily and displayed in the glass case at the counter along with other British style fried foods such as Tattie Dogs, Sausage Rolls, etc. There are a variety of the infamous pies offered. We tried a Steak and Ale pie and an Original Scotch Pie with brown sauce packet for the pour over. I enjoyed mine (Scotch Pie) and could've eaten a couple more God willing. Along with an Irn Bru, this was a satisfying and affodable meal. Definitely give this place a try when in the area.

They make perfect snack sized pastries that let you try a variety without getting too full. Compared to other local pasty shops their baked pastries use better ingredients and are better cooked. I love how flaky and golden colored the pasties were. You'll find a variety of traditional pasties here as well as some unique creations worth checking out. My kids loved the hasbrowns wrapped around a sausage so much we ordered an extra one even though they said they weren't hungry before. This is located in a busy area and there are a small amount of seats inside against the window and a small table next to the drinks. There isn't any seating or place to sit outside so I wouldn't plan on eating here.

One evening in Berkeley, California, out to dinner with some friends at a Korean restaurant, I…read moreshared that I was heading to Scotland in July of 2019 and asked if anybody had been and had any recommendations for places to go. Probing why I was going a little, they got out of me I am of the Gordon Clan of Aberdeenshire, a Scotland of Old clan. One of my friends exclaimed, "Gordon!" He paused, looked me directly in the eyes and said, "You know we're rivals right?!" He is Nate James Lindsey. A member of the Lindsey Clan, one of the Gordon Clan's rival clans in Scotland of Old. Once we addressed our rival ancestries, he recommended to me The Baked Potato Shop in Edinburgh, the city I was flying into/out of for my first trip not only to Scotland, but to Europe as well. Well, I might as well go I thought, how bad can a rival clan recommendation be. The night I arrived in Edinburgh, 5 July 2019, I entered The Baked Potato Shop and was greeted by a friendly worker. After looking over the menu, I went with a baked potato loaded with vegan chilli and vegan Macsween haggis. After placing my order, paying, and getting the baked potato I thought the only thing missing from my first ever evening in Scotland was bagpipe music. No sooner had I thought that than I heard the sounds of bagpipes wafting across the cobbled lane out front of the Shop. Across the cobbled lane I went, lured by the wail of the bagpipes. After listening for a bit and providing a tip I returned to the guest house I was staying the night at. The food was delicious and filled my travel-tired belly. The haggis was the first I had of any kind, vegan or non-vegan, and it was an immediate favorite. Offset from my departure time zone by 8 hours, I went to sleep soon after eating. I woke up early the next morning ready to go. Turns out the baked potato and toppings cured my jet lag in less than 24 hours, quite remarkable. What a way to end my first day in Scotland, a recommendation from a member of a rival Scotland of Old clan yields tasty food. I will however note that I am also of Irish descent, so I am still not sure what to make of the recommendation in light of the Irish Potato Famine... Ahhh, Scotland of Old lives on.
